Does anyone have any experiences with or opinions of the Fantasy Grounds virtual tabletop? I'm eyeing it as a possible Black Friday purchase, but is it more for real-time gaming rather than play-by-post?

Maybe this site Roll20 would work better for you. You can get a free version to test out and then pay for whatever you wish. I use it in a Strange Aeons game I am in and it works fine for me :)

A few of the games I am in use Roll20 and while i like the google drive better Roll20 is popular cause it works rather well. I have considered fantasy grounds before but I know nothing of it and I always seem to be broke when it is on sale. But I am interested in any answers you find.

I'm mostly looking at FG because Roll20 doesn't have APs ready-made and it's very appealing to have all the work done for you, which FG offers.

Yeah but since I already own the PDFs, it's only $7 per book, which I think is very reasonable.

I think that FG is likely better for Virtual Table Top than PBP, but it is beautiful. I have a membership that I got given that I have not tried out yet. If you would like, I can try and figure it out and show you around some time when we’re both online.

Hi guys,

Just to let you know my Rise of the Runelords game is looking for two additional players - using the GMs words when I asked about roles needed/wanted:

'I'm never all that worried about roles, but if you want a super diverse group, you'd likely be looking for some sort of arcane spellcaster, perhaps a survivalist, or an investigator type. We've already got the heals, the traps, and the brawn ^^'

Another player added we also have the Stealth, since our Rogue is pretty good at it - bottom line, we are a Barbarian (me), a Rogue and a Cleric at the moment, and we are looking for two more to round us up.

In all honesty, the game has hit a few slumps (which PbPs do not?), but is worth every bump in the road as the GM is very experienced and creates lots of customized and off script content, and the players are actually roleplayers ;)

If any of you are interested, please let me know - technically speaking, we have just about finished the Burnt Offerings part of Rise of the Runelords, and are currently at level 3. Not sure if we are leveling up soon.

So, a (hopefully) amusing story that I think you guys would appreciate. The scene is mid-morning maybe a week or so ago, after I've come off of working two night shifts in a row. After having made a few posts for PbP, but not to every game, I go downstairs and crawl into bed. My husband is awake, watching videos on his phone. We talk for a few minutes and then I settle in to watch something that he wants to show me...and next thing I know, I'm being nudged to move.

Husband: Hey, this is nice and all but the snoring right in my face isn't really doing it for me.

Me: *rolls over, mumbles* Hokay, I'll try and get a post up later...

Husband: ...What?

Me: *still mumbling, but starting to wake up a bit more* I said I'll try and get a post...oh...

Husband: *now laughing* Orly?

Me: Wait, no...shut up, don't laugh at me...

Husband: I will, because that was hilarious!

Me: *rrrrrrr's into my pillow, then promptly falls asleep again*

The lesson I took away from this is that I probably PbP way more than is healthy for one person :P
