Before the Start
Leira begins to cast Enlarge on Ulfgard.
Ulfgard brings up Longstrider. He then becomes really big.
Leira cast Haste on the party.
Retcon Ragnir's movement to include Haste.
Round One
Leira fires a pair of arrows at the second big cat. The first arrow appeared to glance off the creature's fur. The second sailed over its head.
Unperturbed by the sudden presence of a pair of Dwarves and a Human, the Ettin steps over the crenelations to get to the Dwarf wielding this really long spear.
Haskyll takes the opportunity to strike the big Ettin as it crosses the makeshift barrier. Now without cover, the Dwarf Cleric cuts into the double-headed monstrosity.
Took the liberty to use Haskyll's first attack as his AoO. He would not have the -4 on this attack.
Both heads scream out in a harmonic pain, then swing at the Dwarf Cleric with a pair of wicked looking spiked flails. The Right Side flail just missed glancing off Haskyll's helm. But the Left Side flail strikes the Dwarf Cleric squarely in his side.
Right Side flail: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 252d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 6 = 15
Left Side flail: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 312d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3) + 6 = 15
Haskyll takes 15 points of damage.
Anga burns the Ettin with a pair of Scorching Rays, one for each side.
Seeing a meal approach the first big cat pounces on the Dwarf Warpriest. It tears into Ragnir grabbing its prey.

grapple: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (18) + 23 = 41
Ragnir takes 41 points of damage, and has the grappled condition.
The second big cat moves to see what the first one was up to.
Kaos moves over the crenelations and attacks the Hill Giant cutting into its big belly.
No charge as the makeshift crenelations were in the way.
Haskyll drives Heartspit into the Ettin. Eyes roll back into two heads as the double-headed giant falls down dead.
An enlarged Ulfgard moves onto the battlefield.
@Ulfgard - I did not move your character. You may change direction in light of previous actions.
Retcon Droja's movement.
Droja runs toward the grappled Warpriest as her Giant Wasp stings a section of rock.
Screaming almost like a baby the Hill Giant swings once, then twice, at the puny human. He bops Kaos with the first swing only to miss the human with his second.

Ragnir falls into the pit, but away from the big cat.

Looking over at the Crying and whimpering giant, Haskyll quickly surveys the field.

Round Two
Leira moves forward and creates a magic pit under the two big cats, including the one holding Ragnir. The big cats leap out of the way of the pits, but Ragnir falls in taking a scrape on the way down.
Falling Damage to Ragnir: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
I forgot to update the tally section that the Ettin was already dead. With the Hill Giant being easily handled, I will direct Anga's Magic Missile at one of the big cats.
Anga casts a Magic Missile at the first big cat.
The first big cat roars after being struck, but then sets its sights on the Half-Orc. It carefully but swiftly moves around the pit then sinks its teeth into Droja.
Big Cat 1 bite: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (15) + 18 = 332d6 + 8 ⇒ (1, 3) + 8 = 12
The second big cat sees Leira. It pounces on the Rogue Arcanist tearing into to her with a bite and a pair of wicked claws. The big cat grabs a hold of Leira.
Big Cat 2 bite: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (14) + 18 = 322d6 + 8 ⇒ (6, 3) + 8 = 17

Leira takes a massive 43 points of damage.
Note: The first big cat was unable to charge and could not use its pounce ability. The second big cat had a clear path to Leira and could use its pounce ability.
Kaos swishes then swashes striking the Hill Giant three times.
Haskyll asks for and receives a spiritual waraxe that appears behind the first big cat. It cuts into the feline.
Ulfgard finishes off the Hill Giant. It lies dead at the top of the right section of the wall.
Droja yells out that, "We could use some help here!"
The Giant Wasp flies quickly to engage the second big cat.
Droja takes a step toward the pit, then launches a wave of terror in the general direction of the big cats.
It was close, but Droja could shape the cone to effect both big cats, but not Leira or the Giant Wasp with a Fear spell.
Big Cat 1 Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Big Cat 2 Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
The first Big Cat flees from Droja heading south away from the party and ignoring the mule.
The second Big Cat is shaken. It releases its hold on Leira.
Droja's Reflex Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Droja stumbles then falls into the pit. She looks at Ragnir, "Well! Isn't this a fine mess we have gotten ourselves into."
Falling Damage to Droja: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4
The Hill Giant dies poorly.
Realizing that trying to climb out of the pit would be futile, Ragnir steps back and he too asks for and receives a Spiritual Weapon to aid the situation. It appears near to Leira and slices into the Big Cat.

Round Three
Leira slides through a thin break in the fabric of time and space to the other side of the pit, and closer to the wall. She then hits the big cat with a pair of Scorching Rays.
Finally, she puts a Feather Fall on the party standing on the wall.
Note:Both the Feather Fall and the Scorching Rays have a 45 foot range with Leira. I moved Leira to a place that was within 45 feet of Anga, yet still within 45 feet of the big cat. Truthfully, I think Kaos would have needed to be within 45 feet as well, but the maneuver was too cool not to let it happen for the sake of the story and overall narrative.
Anga will do something truly heroic.
The second big cats looses its prey. It roars as it is hit by a pair of rays. It turns and sees the big wasp. It leaps and attacks the wasp with all it has. The Giant Wasp is mauled, shimmers, then disappears. The big cat preferred the taste of Leira over this over-sized bug.

The first Big Cat runs further and further away from the party.
Kaos softly lands and moves toward the big cat.
Haskyll Spiritual Waraxe moves to attack the second big cat. Then from the palm of his hands a searing light shoots forth sizzling the big cat.
The giant-sized Ulfgard charges the big cat. He brings an enlarged Agrimmosh down on the noggin of the feline, knocking it out.

In the distance, Kaos will see that the valley widens. All traces of vegetation disappear, having been cut down or trampled into the dirt and mud. Plumes of smoke from countless campfires rise into the sky, and loud, guttural speech and shouts fill the air, echoing from the valley below. Ahead, a towering edifice of stone looms over the canyon, carved into the face of a mighty mountain. Between the sheltering slopes of the surrounding peaks stretches a broad, muddy expanse where countless giants have set up makeshift camps. Wide roads of trampled earth traverse the valley floor, connecting the camps to smaller side canyons to both the north and south.

The Ettin had nothing magical, and a sack with 72 gold pieces. The Hill Giant also has nothing magical. It had 100 gold and 340 silver pieces. It also had a small pouch with an Aquamarine (550 gp), Deep Blue Spinel (120 gp), a piece of Ivory (50 gp), and a piece of Turquoise (10 gp).
The Ettin had two giant-sized flails, and a pair of large javelins. The Hill Giant had a simple large wooden club. The Ettin wore leather armor. The Hill Giant wore moldy hide armor.

Well I wounder who was paying them? Anyway any thoughts to how we proceed? I don't think our normal kill it all then talk to the died bodies stragity is going to work out so well here. @Droja Speaking of talking to the dead would you please find out if these two have anything helpful to say?
Droja
Droja looks at the wall, "Would you mind pulling the bodies off the wall?"
Once the bodies are on the ground and on the south (east) side of the wall, Droja will look over the corpses, "You look particularly compliant" The Half-Orc Oracle looks at the Hill Giant. "Yes. I know your kind. Stupid, but not too stupid."
Droja bends over the Hill Giant.

Ettin Will Save: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 5 - 2 = 9
Droja then looks at the party, "What would you like me to ask it?"
Droja
Droja looks at the Ettin, "What is the best way to the Citadel?"
The two dead Ettin heads lifelessly looks at Droja, "Once you prove yourself in the pits, you can just walk up. Though I wouldn't go in unless summoned."
"That's right!" the other head confirms.
Droja will look at Kaos, "I don't think it will know a discreet route to the citadel. It wouldn't need one."
Leira
"Ask him if there is any dwarven group in the Cathedral. We might find a disguise in" Leira suggests.
Droja
Droja listens to Leira, then turns to the Ettin, "Are there any Dwarfs in the Cathedral?"
One head turns to Droja, "Dwarves, not sure. Saw punies brought into the Cathedral in the clutches of the dragon."
The other head turns and looks at Droja, "They get all the good food in the Cathedral."
By the way, check out this image of Fighting the Big Cats.
Droja can ask one more question.
Leira
Wow! Cool art!
"Are there any contending, critics or otherwise alternative factions of Giants in the Cathedral?" Leira talks while recovering some of her arrows.
"It seems we will just have to access with sword and fire"
Droja
Droja repeats Leira's question to the Ettin, "Are there any contending, critics or otherwise alternative factions of Giants in the Cathedral?"
The lead Ettin head looks at Droja, "The Stone Giants think they are in charge, but us Ettins really are the ones in charge."
"That's right! Two heads are better than one." the other head speaks up.
"But then the Hill Giants think they are hot-to-trot because they have more numbers," the lead head speaks up again.
"There are a lot of Hill Giants around here. Too many to take on for sure." the other head chimes in.
Then both heads return to their previous state.
Droja looks at the party, shrugs, then says, "A straight up fight with this many Giants is not a good idea."

Sounds like stealth is the way to go. We need to get moving and it may be wise to let the mule go here. Do we see an area that is out of the way or at least less travelled?
Leira
" Perhaps we should explore the hills for an alternative entry" comments the girl "I can also shred us under invisibility for about a quarter hour"
Droja
The mountains on either side of the valley are near shear vertical drops.
"Unfortunately, a quarter of an hour will not get us to the Cathedral," Droja surveys the massive valley beyond the gates.
Because there is no vegetation from the gates to the Cathedral you can see it in the distance, about four miles away.

Kaos will knock one of the nicer looking teeth out of the hill giants mouth, and put it in his pouch belt. I don't speak giant but in a pinch I wonder if I was enlarged then used my hat I could pass as a hill giant. Heck I may be able to pass as a hill gaint child without being enlarged. Kaos muses aloud.
Anga Runedaughter
Aye. You're not bad for a human. Ah mean you're too tall, and the wrong shape, and your beard is frankly underwhealmin', but apart from that...ahem
Once again, Anga shows off her people skills.
Giants are a fractious lot. They are held to a task by strong leadership. Eliminate that, and they will tear themselves apart. She gestures a bit
So, we sneak past the brutes, slaughter the bosses, an rescue the villagers. Any ideas on how we do that?
Haskyll Stonereaver
Other than with difficulty. Torag rest the souls of those we can not get to.
Haskyll then looks at the others.
In the morning I will be asking Torags son Trudd, to see if he will be letting me have some of his strength to deal with these giants,
This will take longer than usual for my morning routine.
Haskyll glares at Kaos.
As for leaving this poor mule, I think that would be a poor idea. after all it has been through with us.
