"Sorry..." Relas sighs at Globlob. "Maybe Palo can readjust me to do something else next time we can sit down to rest..."

"Doesn't look like it wants to follow me...guess it's not completely mindless then," he adds. "Guess we'll have to take the fight to it! I'll go be a distraction!"

The eidolon turns and moves back up the hallway and towards the entrance of the room, stopping just before going in. Spotting the mummy-thing hiding just around the corner, he tries swatting at it with one of his paws.

"Relas, wa-fine, go get yourself eaten," Palo grumbles. With the corridor leading into the room so narrow, she decides to wait for the inevitable charge from Biggun and anyone else before taking her chances with approaching. Remembering the wand from earlier, she pulls it out and readies it.

Palo will draw the Burning Hands wand, but otherwise hold her position for now.

The warchanter snorts in amusement and shakes his head, lifting a hand to point at the eidolon before he scurries off again. "Is okay. Not every goblin or kitty good at same thing. You find what you good at." Hefting his bow, he reluctantly meanders into the passage toward the waiting undead monstrosity. A bit after the more burly of the adventuring group, of course.

If I hadn't been counted as delaying before, Globlob'll delay until after someone bigger. If so, he'll head up to the very edge of where the undead thing can be seen and fwip an arrow at it.

Moving into the hallways, Biggun grunted as he found his path blocked. "Stupid cat in Biggun's way!" he complained.


Relas moves to the very periphery of the room and, seeing the mummified creature standing behind the corner, claws at it… and, as he does so, all hell breaks loose within the tunnel behind him; the BoomRav shouts angrily, an arrow from Globlob fizzes past his head and Biggun, shouting about things being in his way, clatters up the passageway…

Note that the Adherer has DR/5

He leaps high and summersaults over Relas, incidentally making it very difficult for the creature to take any attacks of opportunity before landing and moving to the side. "Watchit Furby! BOOMS coming through!"

Once settled, he turns and fires at the creature...

Welp, so much for being useful in this combat. Enjoy the +1 folks, Globlob can't do literally anything against this critter with his DR.

Forcing his way through the tangle of cat and bandages, Biggun finally found enough room to attack. Swinging his chain in a circle, he lashed it out against the mummy thing.

Solie rubbed at her eyes and muttered about crazy dreams. She felt like she'd been sleeping or something for something like a hundred years. She sat in the darkness looking up to the top of the pit for awhile while the sound of battle clanged about her throbbing head. Solie hated oversleeping. Better to just close her eyes and wait until they stopped being such loud hallucinations.

...

Her nap, however, was rudely interrupted by a sharp shrieking noise that rang through her body head to toe. It was worse than a loud sound after a hangover.

"Ow ow ow OW! Noisy imagination BE QUIET!" she bellowed up the shaft of the pit. "STOP STOP STOP!"

The following sounds did nothing to help her headache, so she continued to whine and moan and yell about them, hitting the walls of the pit angrily.

"Ack, it's got me! I can't move!" Relas exclaims as the weird 'bandages' wrap around him. Deciding that this is another situation where the best defense just might be a good offense, the eidolon attempts to bite and scratch for all he's worth!

Hearing Relas' cry, Palomia storms up the hallway. "Oh for the love of-!" she snarls as she see the predicament her eidolon has gotten himself into. "You will need a bath after this!" she sighs as she mutters a few words and points at the Relas, who instantly becomes covered in a fine layer of grease.

Palomia moves up and casts Grease on Relas.


The BoomRav shouts again... but this time it achieves little more than knocking some rubble from one of the walls close to the mummified creature – Globlob’s arrow is equally ineffective, the creature moving Relas around as a form of shield… Relas claws and bites, but grappled tightly, he can’t quite land a telling blow…

…it is therefore a dramatic turn in the tide of battle when Biggun, chain singing as it swings, lumbers into the room… and crashes solid iron down against his strange foe…

GM Only:
Adherer = 21/30

…and then, pulling at his chain, Biggun realises that it has somehow become stuck against the creature’s body…

It is a DC14 Reflex Save to avoid it becoming stuck… and, if it does stick, it is a standard action DC17 STR check to get the weapon back (provoking an AoO).

The creature continues to grapple with Relas but Palomia’s companion becomes increasingly slick with a greasy, and slightly unpleasant smelling, gel… and Relas literally slips from the creature’s grasp.

Adherer, Maintain Grapple: 1d20 + 15 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 15 + 5 = 26, Grapple Lost

…and, above the noise and confusion of combat, a familiar voice shouts out a complaint – from the pit towards the north of the room, a female… and somewhat cross sounding voice, ”STOP STOP STOP!”.

Everyone may take their turn now, I will add Solie onto the map when I can (she is in the ten feet deep pit at the north of the room). Solie – you are in the initiative order now and can act with everyone else.

When his first pull didn't do anything, Biggun squared his shoulders and gave a massive heave. "You no steal Biggun's chain, stupid head!" he yelled as the chain came flying loose. As he stumbled a bit, a very familiar voice reached his flapping ears. "Solie?! That you?!"

Grumbling as per usual, Globlob quickly drops his bow and scurries toward the edge of the pit in question. "Bigbig keep fight, Glob get gnomey!" He shouts on his way, skidding to a halt at the edge of the pit as he snatches up his whip all the while. Not having a rope may make this difficult. Squinting those beady red eyes of his, he tries to guage just how far down Solie is in the pit.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

Move: go 60 feet toward the edge of the pit, stopping when beside it. With some acrobatics to try to dodge AoOs. Free: drop bow. Free as part of the move: pull out whip. No swift. Song still has one more round before it stops.

Though she knows that she might regret it, this seems like a prime time to make use of the wand they'd found earlier. Sliding past Relas, she levels the wand at the ugly mummy-like creature...

But nothing happens.

"What...? Um, can you guys keep him busy while I try to get this thing to work?" she nervously squeaks. Then as a familiar, cranky voice echoes from somewhere very close by, she adds, "Solie!? Get over here and help us if you can, this thing needs to be cooked to a crisp!"

With his good friend Solie about to be brought back, Biggun attacked the mummy with a vengence.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 4) + 7 = 16


Apologies for no GM post over the weekend, it was a public holiday weekend in the UK so fun family times for GM Zed!!! Plus Game of Thrones yesterday evening…

The Boomrav echoes around the room as a metal ball slams into the mummified creature still struggling to grab at Relas… but, as the bandages around the creature re-layer themselves over the hole torn by the gun, it seems that the monster is unhurt… and, as Biggun pulls at the chain being slowly tied in place by the moving fabrics, the creature strikes!

Pulling a weapon free provokes an AoO

Adherer, Slam vs Biggun: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18, hitting for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Biggun is now at -1HP, unconscious and dying - he needs to make a DC10CON check (with a -1 penalty) to stabilise.

With the creature preoccupied with Biggun, Relas sees an opportunity and, covered in a slick mucus, claws and bites its mummified prey… this time causing little tears and rends across the enemy’s exposed torso.

GM Only:
Adherer = 12/30

If / When Solie attempts to climb out of the pit (assuming Globlob lowers his whip for her to climb), it will be a DC10 climb check (she may take 10).

Everyone may take their turn now (Biggun, that attack roll you made was out of initiative order as you needed a standard action to retrieve your chain... and the Adherer has knocked you out now anyway... If it makes you feel better, it would have been a miss anyway!!!

As Biggun drops yet again and Solie's yelling intensifies, Palomia waves the wand in her hand wildly, trying to get it to activate. "Work dammit!"

UMD (Wand of Burning Hands): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

Apparently swearing at things is what's needed, as the wand obliges by spouting out a large cone of flame that washes over the adherer!

Burning Hands (CL 3rd): 3d4 ⇒ (4, 3, 1) = 8 Reflex for half; wand charges remaining (4).

"About time!" she exclaims as she falls back to make room for Relas.

I'd like to use the second of these two configurations for the area of effect; just turn it on its side so it should get the adherer without cooking Biggun in the process.

Breathing a sigh of relief as Palo manages to avoid cooking him or Biggun with the wand, Relas steps forward into the room. "We're hurting it, I think! Slowly but surely!" he calls out as he continues his attempts to shred the creature.

Globlob huffs in clear exasperation as he lowers the whip down to Solie, waiting for her to take hold of it. At the sound of a very large goblin hitting the ground again, he shouts back over his shoulder, "I no have more healing! Stop dying!" Chastising done, he draws in a deep breath and prepares to belt out yet another bit of his eternal limerick.

Goblin:

"Dat some gross and sticky mummy!
Don't get eated in its tummy!
Bring out wand and spell and torch,
Burn to ash and make it scorch!"

+1 for another three rounds!


GM Roll, Palomia CL check vs Adherer's SR: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3, spell does not get past SR.

Relas manages to get another brutal bite on his foe... the sound of bones breaking within the leg that he has grabbed hold of is quite distinct...

Whilst Palomia, finally encouraging the wand to work, can only watch as the arcane flames flow around the mummified monster without actually burning it...

Waiting on actions from Solie and Ravboom... and a save from Biggun.

Damn, low rolls for me everywhere. And sorry about that, lost track of what action was what. Kinda figured it would have missed though.

Euphoric at gaining his weapon back, Biggun was caught off-guard as the mummy thing took offence and attacked back. With the thing's limb slamming hard into his chest, he didn't have a chance to return the favor as he dropped like a sack of goblin babies.

Solie grabs the end of the whip and jumps a bit to make sure Globlob's got a good grip before she starts trying to haul herself up. As a familiar face re-emerges from the pit to the north, and Biggun carries on dying in a heap, the strange creature continues to flail at Relas... but this time, maybe finding it difficult with the eidolon covered in a slick goo, it cannot hit with either of its clumsy slams...

Relas continues to harry the mummified creature, again managing to bite and tear at it. As it gathers itself to grapple with the eidolon once more, the creature is suddenly caught in a torrent of flame and, this time, ignites spectacularly… purple and blue flames wreath the creature for a second or two before it collapses… and lies still, little more than a smouldering heap of rags…

…with a little time to take in their surroundings, the group notice the passageway to the east – from where, an ominous green glow is pulsating…

Solie finished her frantic climb out of the pit, knees scrapped for her efforts. "How you all get here? Why you kill Biggun? Am I hallucinating again?" she asked, eyeing up the group with no small amount of suspicion. She strolled up to the heap that was Biggun and prodded him. "Hmm, not dead. I fix."

She poked his nose with a quick heal.

As the healing magic took effect, one by one his lovely goblin lassies started fading from his dreams. "No, Biggin not done yet!" he yelled in his dream before waking up.

As his eyes opened, he was greeted by the sight of his old friend Solie standing above him. "Solie! See, Biggun knew Biggun find Solie!" he exclaimed with a grin before jumping up.

Ravboom hope the two of them are happy in afterlife, and have many dead rats to eat and many suns to pull down out of sky. Globlob? You sing dirge for poor dead departed Biggun and Sollie?"

Globlob nods solemnly and lifts a hand to pluck the horned skull off the top of his head. He sets it over his heart and bows his head right along with Rav. "Biggun was big stinkyface, but he our big stinkyface. He gonna be missed. And Glob dunno about crazy gnomey. She crazy." With an idle shrug, he shoves the skull back on his head and casts off any pretense of sorrow for the sake of those two.

With a glance around the area, he sets his sights on the newly spotted hallway and points dramatically. "No more time for joke, we go! Dere green place and treasure here, Glob smell it!" And so he goes, slinking off in that direction.

Stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24

"Oh I am n-OW!" Palo begins to protest, breaking off as Ravboom steps on her foot. "Fine. Biggun, you did good work swinging that chain around and you somehow managed to only hit our enemies and not anyone else - good job," she huffs. "And Solie, you did a good job keeping Biggun in line. If you were alive, I'd give you this fire wand we found."

Her part in the 'joke' played, she sighs and crosses her arms as Globlob slinks off towards the glowing passageway. "Are we done? Good. Solie, what actually happened to you? We woke up back at the village and found you gone."

"Maybe you should give ghost-Solie the wand anyway Palo," Relas chuckles, actually happy to see the crazy little gnome alive and apparently unhurt. "A ghost gnome with a fire wand would be pretty scary wouldn't it?"


Despite Globlob and Ravboom’s pronouncements that Biggun has indeed shuffled from his mortal coil, that he has kicked the bucket, that he is pushing up the daisies… in short that he is an ex-goblin, the over-sized lump of goblinoid muscle gets back up and becomes increasingly excited at having, at last, found Solie.

…the other goblins in the pit show no enthusiasm for being pulled free, even if such assistance is offered…

…and, from the eastern corridor – accompanying the otherworldly green glow, comes the sound of wheezing, clanking machinery... as Globlob peers down the corridor, he can see shiny metallic tanks, vats and vessels in a room some twenty-five feet to the east.

Nobody described the pit as having more gobbies

Ravboom does try to get the other gobbies to come out, but if they won't, he uses his rope and ties knots in it every foot, and then ties it around something solid in the room and leaves it trailing into the pit. If they come around, they can get themselves out.

"Oh wow...that's a lot of goblins down there," Relas gasps as he peers curiously into the pit. "Um, hello? Are you guys okay? The way back is clear if you want to escape..." he offers as Ravboom sets up a rope for them.

"What happened to me? Don't know. There was---" Solie trailed off, shaking her head. "Can't remember. Like a dream can't hold on to it."

"Where we going now? I'm hungry."
