tfw no tpk evn tho cleric is pocket
Seriously though,
Sorry guys, I've got yet another business trip coming tomorrow. Should be back by Friday.
The battle will probably end soon, so if you roll nice damages while I'm away, you can mini-GM the evil dude's defeat and start discussing where to go and what to do with your "pocketed" cleric.
Sorry again, it's that time of the year at work. Have a nice week!

Back.
Loot requests, huh? I approve the idea (so feel free to post wishes for loot either here or in the gameplay thread), but no luck this time. If the fire-user had a means of healing he'd have used it himself and... a map? Of the Labyrinth? HAHAHAHAHAno.
It occurred to me that there are rules for an unconscious character to regain consciousness:
Recovering with Help
One hour after a tended, dying character becomes stable, the character must make a DC 10 Constitution check to become conscious. The character takes a penalty on this roll equal to his negative hit point total. Conscious characters with negative hit point totals are treated as disabled characters. If the character remains unconscious, he receives another check every hour to regain consciousness. A natural 20 on this check is an automatic success. Even if unconscious, the character recovers hit points naturally. He automatically regains consciousness when his hit points rise to 1 or higher.
Technically you guys could take one-hour long breather to (1) let Pahleg make a Constitution check (2) study the Labyrinthikas and (3) let Kekkle prepare his spells. Or just march on, hoping to find a healer.
BTW, I'm noticing the battlemaps have been helpful. Should I publish the Google docs file I've been using to offer a live player map that also helps visualise the exploration?

Goramar Midur |

Just been quiet. No posts since Monday. We have a few that have been up now on initiative with no response

Ushio Takei |

Just posting to say I'm here. Ushio cannot do much without a weapon.

GM MG |

So I spoke with mourge40k and he's been busy lately. Everything's ok, he should be back soon. He gave me the permission to GMPC Moritat during battles. Should any of you feel that your actions in combat get delayed often (Rilian, Ushio, sound familiar?), we could get an agreement for GMPCing during battles.
Something unrelated: I've noticed I have made multiple stupid grammar errors in the past. Sorry about that.

Goramar Midur |

We now have 2 people down, but we have a flask of healing. I highly suggest we get Pahleg up. Then maybe the cleric has something he can offer Goramar.

Pahleg |

Ok. Here me out.
If we give 20 souls to Pahleg he can level up. That'll award him another 7 hp at least. That'll push him into the positives I think.
Hahahaha....Hahahaha! Oh my god, that's one of the most brilliant things I have ever heard!

GM MG |

I haven't explained exactly how the leveling up system works. I was planning on having some NPC explain it but now is as good time as any.
Long story short, no objections. It's a fun idea.
Leveling up
Souls not only function as currency, but also as a means of becoming stronger. Souls can be permanently consumed to attain a new class level.
To reach a next level, a character must spend a number of souls equal to XP needed to reach next level divided by 100. A character cannot spend souls that do not grant him/her a whole level: the number of souls must be enough to reach the next level.
For example, a 1st-level rogue wants to level up to 2nd-level rogue. XP needed to advance to 2nd level is 2,000: that divided by 100 is 20. Thus, 20 souls are required to reach 2nd-level. To reach 3rd level, 3,000 more XP is needed (5,000 total XP), so 30 souls must be spent to reach 3rd-level and so on.
To do this, a character must have the approval of the party (GM discretion applies) to use the souls in the shared soul pool (in the campaign description, top of the page). Spending souls to level up takes 5 minutes and requires extensive concentration, and this time period must be undisturbed.
It is possible for one character to level up someone else in his stead. In this method, the one concentrating on the soul consumption is someone other than the one who gains a new level. This method cannot be used to give a level in a multiclass, and must be a level in one of his/her current classes.
First, increase the character's hit points, Base Attack Bonus, saves, and all level-dependent class abilities as usual. Then, if after the hit point increase the character leveling up is conscious and able to concentrate, the character leveling up decides on the new skill points, feats, ability score increases, class abilities, and spells, if applicable. If the character leveling up is unable to concentrate at the time he needs to make these decisions the process fails, no souls are spent and the progress is reverted (reducing the hit points, BAB, saves and all level-dependent abilities back to where they originally were).

Reminder (did I mention this earlier?) for those that own a Labyrinthika: you can get lore bonus to the Intelligence check made to study Labyrinthika.
Lore Bonus
Whenever you attempt a Knowledge check or an Intelligence check made when studying Labyrinthika actively, if you quote (or copy-paste) relevant flavor text from an item description or NPC's dialgoue, you can get a bonus on the check! The bonus varies depending on how relevant the copy-pasted flavor text is, but is usually +2, +4 or even +6. When copy-pasting relevant flavor text, you can make the check untrained.
(For example, if you want to roll Knowledge to see if you know anything about Bob the Example NPC and happen to copy-paste the description of Example Sword that refers to Bob the Example NPC, you can get a +4 bonus on the Knowledge check)

Ulrich of Ravensmount |

Still here, having a good time! Posting has just slowed over the weekend. I'm also a little wary of completely dominating the game since I feel as if I've posted an awful lot.
Good time to mention- I will be traveling over this coming weekend to Chicago for a wedding. Friday through Monday. I may be able to post here and there but by all means DMPC me if you need to during that time.

Ulrich of Ravensmount |

Well, they're healing potions essentially- unless the one we have from last time replenishes.
My thinking is that right now we need equipment more than we need levels. A crossbow for Kekkle (or Rillian or Moritat, if they're still around) is more options per turn for our mob of undead. Having a silver weapon and some small help vs. bad conditions like poison or disease may pay dividends more than one more person gaining a level.

Elyna |

A suit of leather armor would do me good. I dont have access to my documents at the moment, so i dont know what proficiencies i have, but studded would also be fine for me if i can have that without penalties.
I'm aware we wont find either here anyway though.

Goramar Midur |

Definitely agree. With so little gear to go around so far we might be best served ensuring we can survive for now than saving for levels. As for weapons, Moritat already has a scythe just as a heads up Ulrich. It was part of her starting equipment.
Fortunately, at this time Goramar doesn't need anything. With that last round of combat and loot I now have a rapier, shield, and leather armor. That will work splendidly for me. I believe Ushio now has a dagger as well, leaving I believe only Elyna/Rillian weaponless (I think) and they are mostly casting spells/summoning creatures up to this point.

Pahleg |

I have armor and a reach weapon, which will do nicely for me as well. I won't need any more gear until we're a little more comfortable.
Also, I want to thank everybody again for all the help you've given Pahleg. He has definitely gotten the lion's share of our collected souls so far.
