Game Master Valmoon

Hello Everyone!
I Have been on the player side of Pathfinder for a little over a year know and as time went on my desire to GM only grew. So with out further delay here is what I am looking for.

As the title states this is a Skulls & Shackles campaign.

Character Creation Guidelines
1st Level Characters

Race: Core, APG, UC, UM, ARG (no custom races)

Class: Core, APG, UC, UM, UE
Archetypes: Core, APG, UC, UM, ARG, UE
Abilities: 20-pt Buy

Alignment: No Lawful Good, all else is allowed (but, your character needs to "play" well with others)
Wealth: 150gp

Character Traits: Two traits, One Must be a Campaign Trait from the Players Guide. (no rich parents)

What I'm Looking For
1. minimum of 1-2 posts per weekday
2. creative and interesting backgrounds
3. optimized character's are welcome as long as #2 is fallowed
4. Again, play well with others

You don't need a full character sheet for the application - just the background and character idea.

Recruitment will be open until August 31st.
Those picked will be posted September 1st around 2:30pm - 3:00pm CST.

wow. no lawful good but all evils allowed. that's new.

also does this mean all Pathfinder Companion and Chronicles archetypes are out of the question?

Put me down as very interested. Been a while since I played, but I'm thinking Halfling gunslinger, lots of sailing skills, escaped slave turned buccaneer, but too hot headed for command, yer basic bosun or first mate type. I imagine a great deal of swinging from ropes and shouting ill advised comments about an adversaries choice of mate :)

I can be convinced to allow a Lawful Good character in, if I feel the class can play well with evil types.

As for Pathfinder Companion and Chronicles archetypes, (I forgot about those.) as long as I get a link showing me what to expect and it can play well with others. I will give it a equal chance of acceptance.

(After all I'm just the Story teller so to speak. Player enjoyment is one of my main goals. )

cool. I'll check out the SNS Player guide now. I also like how you're giving everyone equal gold. that tiny difference makes a lot at level 1, and makes Paladins into kings with both good starting stuff and money.

It helps a lot of classes.

Here's a character that I've been shopping around - the point buy and build overall would need adjustment but the background is solid, I hope. At levels past 1st she'll probably be leveling as a Court Bard, poissibly another archetype instead.

I will submit this character for review. Will need to treak some things possibly (starting gold for one) but if character does not work let me know and will go with another one.

I'll submit a female, half-orc Cad (fighter archetype) with neutral alignment. I'll put the sheet up under this alias. Taking Dockside Brawler campaign trait.

Gunslinger background up.

Liking the character backgrounds so far.
If you have any questions comments of concerns feel free to ask.

characters:
Lucia Rhitu - Human - Summoner (Synthesist)
Afzara - Undine - Summoner (Synthesist)

Embrianna - Half-Orc - Fighter (Cad)
Henk2 - Human - Fighter

Willis Cana Dhum - ? - gunslinger

showed interest.
Hoogie - Paladin?

Submitting Henk the whaler/pirate. Son of a pirate who has been sent out on his own by his father to make his own way.

Boy, ya can't be riden my coattails yer entire life. You are a man now and it is time to make yer own way. COme back to the Shackles when ya have a new life, and git yerself a wife. This creaky knee needs a babe to bounce on it.

Still adding a bit more to the background and character sheet, but it's almost done now.

kinda want to but not all that familiar with how to play online campaigns like this.

Sent you a private message to help you out.

lol no. I just asked about the LG thing. I'm making something now. I just type really long backgrounds, personalities, and appearances. this might take a while.

About 85% done, man its been a while :)

Sweet, I've been waiting for a Skulls & Shackles game to open up.

Looks like you're good for physical characters, so how about a sorcerer? Human, half-elf, or gillman, bloodline to be determined, probably taking the Ilizmagorti Native campaign trait.

No problem, Take your time.

@Hoogie - Ah ok.

Sovereign Court

Hi, just chiming in - I'll be submitting an unarmed fighter, who grew up as the son of a carpenter. Posting all his details, including extended background, soon.

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring. Background and sheet are in my profile.

By the way, I forgot to ask when I first posted. How strict are you on the synthesist archetype fluff?

Alivia, the Sapphire Sorceress wrote:

Hrm...If I can avoid it I'd rather not try to elbow anyone out of a spot based on having the same class or role, so since a sorcerer has already been fully submitted I'm going to try for something else instead.

Either going with a cleric of Besmara or a wizard this time around.

What happened to your previous S&S game?

Also let me know if you would prefer a different character. I had another concept but I really like this one. I can write really long and detailed about characters but some I enjoy also being kinda just basic person with desire to adventure the world.

Fire School
The fire elementalist sees a world around him that is made to burn, and he can bring that fire to consume his foes. He has also learned that fire can purify and protect, if properly controlled.

Fire Supremacy (Su): You gain resistance 5 to fire. At 10th level, this resistance increases to 10. At 20th level, you gain immunity to fire damage. In addition, whenever you are within 5 feet of a source of flame at least as large as a campfire, you can draw the fire around you for 1 round as a swift action. Anyone striking you with a melee weapon or unarmed strike takes an amount of fire damage equal to 1/2 your wizard level (minimum 1). Weapons with reach avoid this damage.

Fire Jet (Su): As a standard action, you can send forth a 20-foot line of fire. Anyone in this line takes 1d6 points of fire damage + 1 point for every two wizard levels you possess. A successful Reflex save halves this damage. The DC of this save is equal to 10 + 1/2 your wizard level + your Intelligence modifier. Creatures that fail their saving throw catch fire and take 1d6 points of fire damage on the following round. Creatures that catch fire can avoid this damage by taking a full-round action to extinguish the flames by making a DC 15 Reflex save. Rolling on the ground gives a +2 circumstance bonus on the save. Dousing the creature with water automatically extinguishes the flame. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Intelligence modifier.

Background (just last night):

Honeymooning in the region seemed like a good idea at the time. A love for romance, travel and the natural wonders of the world, be they volcano or open sea... brought Sam and his bride-to-be to Port Peril.

Samael Adroushan woke up in the shackles. He doesn't know the fate of his fiancee. But, he can imagine what would happen to a beauty like her all alone, with no one to fend for her... Inwardly he damns himself, while at the same time swearing to stay (voluntarily or otherwise) until he found out her fate... and either found her, or avenged her.

An Wizard of the School of Flame, has no place on the deck of a ship... or does he? This is the story of Samael Adroushan, or Sam... "The Accidental Pirate".

A classically trained mage, steeped in elven tradition... Sam grew fond of the Elven Curved Blade as it complimented his his graceful physique and fluid movements.

Progression - with the help of Magical Knack, will borrow from/dip into Ranger (Freebooter) for 2 levels at some point. 2-Handed fighting style, "Shield of Swings".

Sam may be a threat to a ship, but his value is in the tremendous weapon /ally he can be against other pirates.

This lends itself to becoming a mercenary of sorts. Easily filling the position of first mate.

@henk - the DM was gone for nearly a week, then a week ago, he posted, "sorry, I was gone without notice, I won't do that again, I promise." That was 7 days ago. -.-

Two of the players never even checked in, he was going to contact a few others that had applied, but I don't think that happened.

I doubt it will ever get off the ground - you're lucky you didn't stick around.

So, I'm looking for another SNS - I have this perfectly good character all made up for it. :)

Was that the one where the DM was going to take over one that another group lost their DM and had to pass it to a friend so he do the one he posted about?

Yes, it was that one - he'd temporarily taken over the other one, while recruiting for his own, then passed the other one over to his friend so that he could do his own that we all applied for.

He posted a handful of times, disappeared, then disappeared even longer. The bit that got me was that 2 players never even showed up.

I feel really bad. I am glad for this DM that the friend of your lost DM is actually running the game still. The wait for getting picked drives me crazy. I am always worried that I haven't built a character the DM likes. Then that thread had all the RP going on that some people got upset about.

Yes, I'm sorry that upset everyone.

Like some of the others, this character's flotsam from several other S&S campaigns that didn't get off the ground. The character in the profile should be build-legal.

Sovereign Court

Actually, I think I'll pass on S&S. My apologies, and best of luck to all!

Sorry to hear that. Hope you find the game you want.

This is shaping up to be a fascinating cast of rogues.....

I like it :)

I be very tempted t' throw m'self in as an offerin' t'this game as well.

But I is all ready in a game m'self. (^_^)

Wishin' every one all-a th' very best. *Waves*

*Randomly hugz peoplez and bounces away*

I'd like to submit Malack the accursed. He's a man of most certainly ignoble birth that has made his way across Golarion several times as a mercenary and all around low life. He may have once been a great warrior but his love of ale has robbed him of any experience he once had attained. He's quick with a ribald tale that more than often is a true story and one not to be told in the company of ladies. He fights dirty and above all else is a survivor. He's missing his left eye but he's not sure who or what took it anymore. Even though he will start the campaign as a drunk and loud mouth he's the type of low life that just lacks focus. While something holds his attention he's a more than capable warrior and all around thug. He hasn't been a pirate before, or doesn't recall being one, but a pirate's should suit him just fine. He is easily distracted by women.
In terms of the numbers, Malack could be a fighter/rogue, pure fighter, ranger, barbarian or barbarian/rogue. He'll almost certainly take endurance and diehard as feats. Let me know what you think.

I will be back here sometime tomorrow with an Undine Witch, campaign trait will probably be either Ships surgeon, eye for plunder, or Ilizmagorti native.

Actually, I can't promise it will be undine anymore.

What you have is fine by me so far. If you feel inspired to post more I will not stop you.

Any of the 3 listed works for me.

(The bold is just lets me spot names on the list easier.)

characters:
Lucia Rhitu - Human - Summoner (Synthesist)

Afzara - Undine - Summoner (Synthesist)
^ If you like the current concept the most then stick with it. happy players = happy game.
Alivia Granuaile - The Sapphire Sorceress - Half-Elf - Sorcerer
^ very nice background.
Samuel "Sam" Adroushan - Human - Wizard

Embrianna - Half-Orc - Fighter (Cad)
Henk2 - Human - Fighter
Sharice - Half-Elf - Barbarian

Evil bob - ? - cleric

wolfman1911 - Undine? - Witch

Willis Cana Dhum - ? - gunslinger

showed interest.
Hoogie - ? - ?
Meditation - ? - melee type?

If I missed some one let me know.

Imma halfling

And I can post from my phone. Oh it is on...

Thanks for that, GM Valmoon. I got a couple of games at the moment. One is great and fast. Was a replacement player that made what the DM was looking for. I wasn't asking for that but just applied to enough other games that I don't mind changing if it gives me better shot is why I asked and Skull & Shackles games seem pretty intense for tryouts.

Halfling it is.

Yea phone posting = win

The Exchange

Gruff (Redneck) Jones
Human rouge (Priate)
Background Trait: Eye for Plunder
Trait: Killer
STR:13
Dex: 16 (+2 for human)
Con: 11
Int: 14
Wis: 13
Cha:13
Alignment: TN
Dual wielding Daggers

Background:

Redneck has been on several ships before. I lived in the Shackles all my life. Both on ships and off ships. I learned his skills on the streets as a young boy, after taking a dagger from a body that I "happened" found. I then jumped aboard a priate ship because the guard thought that the I killed the person. I stowed away on a shiped called "Lost Barnicales" and I when I was finally found I was put to work for 5 years aboard. Finally I was on leave and now I find myself in this Tavern after a night of Drinking and Spicy food. Listening to a Horrible minstrial.

More to come on myself here. I will post my stats later tonight.

I was missed... Thanks, Captain!

Samael "Sam" Adroushan wrote:

I'm sorry about that.

Edited the list you are now there.

....huh. Could have sworn that was still the 30-point buy (yes, really. GM was a little nuts) version in the profile. Equipment's not all there yet, I'd guess, but everything else is ready for vetting. As it's a synthesist, even at first level I expect there might be a mistake or two.

Thanks... Not sure if the Fire School is a plus or minus. But, I like the threat... Not that he'd advertise... Yet.

Malack is definitely a melee type
