"If it's not TOO high up, maybe we can form a pyramid, with whoever is at the top retrieving the vase?"
Kitt Theos

"It's probably best to go along with Mun's plan, it's the safest way I think." Kitt says as he studies the structure, and retrieves a rope from his bag.
Do we need any rolls?
Kitt flings his rope up in towards the structure with a grappling hook and asks his eidolon to pull it down.
Mun of Ashava
|
"Ahhh, hold up." Mun steps forward to block Kitt's throw. "Let me make sure it isn't magical!"
Casting Detect Magic
Mun studies the vase and cage to make sure that he will be able to use his Mending spell should the vase break.
GM Tyranius
|
Mun detects no magical auras from the cage nor the vase. Climbing on each other shoulders allows the Pathfinders to reach the vase and the contents within.
Sealed with a wax-coated cork, the vase contains a number of red paper envelopes, each embossed with an elaborate hand-painted print of a jade phoenix. The envelope holds a folded invitation to attend a performance of a traditional opera from Lung Wa entitled Dawn of the Jade Phoenix, to be held at a small theater in the Foreign Quarter.
Each of you grab your invitations and quickly retreat from the room as more groups pour in behind you. Heading south you find another drain shaft that you slowly crawl through. After roughly forty feet you reach a room that contains a trap door leading back to the warehouse subbasement beneath the warehouse’s arena.
Smelling strongly of sewage and the invitation itself isn't until tomorrow. Now might be a good time to secure a room in the inn for a bit of rest as several folks give you a wide berth as you look like homeless folks that like in the foulest corners of Absalom's sewers.
Please try to be a bit more descriptive in your posts. More roleplay with the rollplay makes for a far more enjoyable experience for all. I want to know what you all are doing for the evening as you prepare for bed. :). The inn contains one double bed and the rest of the rooms are single beds. Will place a map of an inn up for fun for your tokens as we have a day for some good roleplay. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Talondreal

The paladin will spend the evening, after eating, in prayerful contemplation of his actions for the day and will pray for those whose lives might have been lost.
Mun of Ashava
|
Mūn arrives at the inn, grateful to be out of the sewers and back into civilization. He claims a single room to himself, and spends an inordinate amount of time making himself clean and presentable. He avails himself of every service the inn offers, calling multiple times for more hot water and many, many sponges and rags to help him get the job done.
He does finally emerge into the common area of the inn, late into the evening service, and selects a shellfish stew along with a crisp wine for his dinner.
"One day I'm going to do some work for the Society that doesn't require new clothes. A sewer?" He looks down at his outfit, which looks every bit as good as it did at the start of the day. "I apologize; I did the best that I could."
"So, an opera tomorrow?" He looks down again at the invitation that he's brought with him. "I don't believe I'm familiar with Lung Wa; I imagine it's our host's selection. He has a flair for the dramatic, so I imagine it will be interesting."
Kitt Theos
|
"Opera's don't really sound like our thing, ain't that right Terra." Kitt replies Mun as he gobbles down on some chow, tired and somewhat smelly. He continues to feed bits of scrap to the Eidolon. Eidolon's don't really require nutrition but she does not seem to mind the snacking, and she looks somewhat fat.
At the end of the day, Kitt returns to his single room to clean himself up, double checks the windows, locks and hides his invitation somewhere safe, on Terra. Later he does a bit of review of the events that went through-out the day, calculating how to make each encounter faster and more efficient. If only we did it this way... Maybe I can share this with the rest tomorrow. He continues throwing ideas at a silent and unamused eidolon, until nightfall. As soon as he falls asleep, his eidolon vanishes back into her home plane.
Iddo Blackstone
|
Iddo slowly devours his soup, examining various crevices and nooks in the wall which he may not have noticed earlier. He nods absent-mindedly at Mun and Kitt's conversation, taking a moment to let Kitt's reply sink in. After a longer-than-expected delay, Iddo joins in.
"How can someone not like the Opera? It combines all the coolest parts of our society into one big musical affair."
The young storyteller contemplates his usage of the word "cool" as he gulps down another spoonful of soup and continues.
"I've been to the Opera once in Oppara; my parents took me to see what high Taldan culture looks like. My first Pathfinder Society mission was also to the opera, but I didn't enjoy it very much. Maybe it's because of the zombies that attacked us in the middle."
Iddo finishes his soup and without another word clambers up to his room.
Xukong

Xukong keeps its mask on even while it eats, using a clever built-in hinge mechanism beneath which extraordinarily sharp teeth can be seen.
"Dominoes, anyone?" It inquires after finishing, proffering a fine set made of jade.

***OVERSEER ANNOUCEMENT***
Small groups of challengers slowly begin emerging from the tunnels, some elated at having a vase, some looking crushed with defeat as they stare at their empty hands. Victorious or vanquished, they drift off into the night to get clean and well rested after a crawl through a sewer.
Gillii
|
If no one else has, Gillii will take advantage of the double bed, hoping perhaps to find some female companionship to share it with him... or male, he's not too particular when it comes down to it. Once he's stowed his stuff and had a hot bath in some clean water, he'll head to the common room for a hearty and much needed meal and liquor to accompany it.... or is that liquor and a meal to accompany that?
Once he's fed and comfortable, he'll settle back into a comfortable position and start to sing, hoping to get others to sing with him, or at least enjoy the song, clapping along if they won't sing the choruses.
perform sing: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
After folks lose interest in the entertainment, he'll sink back to anonymity in the common room and enjoy some more potent liquor, brandy perhaps. He'll wander over to the pair playing dominoes.
"This looks interesting... mind if I watch and learn about the game?" While not particularly good with numbers, he's quick enough to spot patterns on the bricks and recognize those that match... After watching the game for a while, he yawns and begins wandering and mingling with any remaining guests, and perhaps can interest one to join him upstairs for some personal playtime with him..
he's not above using his Nereid Fascination ability to secure himself a companion for the evening... just sayin'

This is still the same day
As the day winds on Kitt returns to his room in quiet contemplation as he returns companion to its own plane for a bit of rest on its own.
Xukong decides to stay up a bit later than usual as he looks for an opponent to play Dominos with. Talondreal takes him up on his offer, though he wants to complete his own prayers and self-reflections on the day first and agrees to return in a short while.
Gillii asks the innkeeper to send a bath up and agrees as Gillii tosses the man a few copper pieces. Gillii thoroughly enjoys the hot steaming water as a soft knock is hear on the door. Getting out he finds that one of the patron weapon decided to join him after all. A lithe human woman with auburn hair lays her hand on his chest and pushes him gently back into the room and shuts the door tight, locking it behind her.
Talondreal makes his way down the hallway to his room for a small bit of quiet reflection time while Iddo reminisces on his first mission as a Pathfinder and turns in for the night to his own room.
Hearing of Gillii's bath Mun calls for one of his own to be sent to the room. growing excited he asks for extra hot water and speaks of the impending Opera tomorrow night and his excitement when the innkeeper let's him know that his bath is now ready.

Please remember at this point the only one that is still armored is probably Xukong. The rest of you are unarmored and nearly naked from bed / bathes. Also keep in mind that noone is aware of each others assassin's or what is going on behind closed doors.

I had to look this up to make sure I could do this without drawing an AoO, and it sure seems like I can.
The elf, startled and without any armor, weapons, or gear, stands in shock after the blade pierces his side. In half a heartbeat his senses return and he throws open the door behind him (move action). He steps out into the hall (5' step) and--without letting go of the handle--he immediately slams the door shut (2nd move action).
Naked, bleeding, and frightened, he keeps his grip on the handle as tight as he can manage, bracing to try to keep the door closed. He yells up and down the hallway. "Pathfinders! I'm under attack! Aspis Assassins!!! Fear Fire Foes; awake!!!" Not sure if bracing the door counts as an action; if it does, disregard that bit.

Yes- Only 1 set of doors as he is out in the hall. You guys will have to figure your own DC as each person will obviously be different. The DC starts at -5 to hear. Each door adds +5 to the DC and every 10 feet adds +1 to the DC. Either way the DC isn't going to prove too difficult once this gets further along.
Mun quickly opens the door, slides out into the hall and shuts the door, holding it shut as best as he can. With the Assassin close on his heels Mun begins to yell as loud as he can down the hallway, attracting Xukong's attention.
Kitt continues to lie in his bed as he begins to fall asleep contemplating the day and fine craftsmanship of the inn's bed.
