"Dretches! These Low class scum are damn near resistant to every type of magic attack save for force or sound. At least we have the divine on ourside!" He grunts it out bit by bit as he continues to dodge and fight however one claw nearly slips through But Tarov intercepts it and Julian slashes the Dretch across the throat in retaliation. He continues his quick footwork, spinning like a dervish and delivering what he hoped was a decisive and fatal blow.

"Come on you Sons of goats! Let my blade be your passage back to the Abyss!"

Surprised by Julian's insight Rowan presses the attack alongside the others. She continues to keep her shield low and in front of her as she swings around it to strike at her opponents unprotected side.

Advance alongside Tarov, Preventing the enemy from flanking him if possible.

He's fiend-blooded and *gasp* knows a lot about demons! SUSPICION! ...I kid, I kid. XD

Tarov managed to solidly strike his foe, though the dretch didn't fall - though Julian managed to bring down his target, banishing it back to the Abyss. Rowan's attack, on the other hand, came nowhere close to striking her foe, and the creature howled in triumph. Both Tarov and Rowan's foes renewed their assault with added ferocity, even as a rumble shook the ground nearby. Unfortunately, there was no way to stop Tarov from being flanked by the enemy's movements... but at least they couldn't flank both of you.

Tarov swings his weapon around once more, attempting to prevent the demon's attack from making purchase on his new companion. Undaunted, the demon dodges the blade and its teeth cut into Rowan's flesh.

Rowan kept close to Tarov, maintaining her defensive fighting, while striking what he struck when able and trying to reduce the enemy before her magic faded. The dretch reached for her its mouth wide open, the spittle on its teeth shined and she readied herself for the coming bite. However the beast takes a smack in the jaw from Tarov. As Tarov finished his brutal strike on the creature Rowan added her own strike. Bringing the shining morningstar down with a crushing blow!

Well, boosting AC won't do anything versus a critical blow. XD I suppose it could stop the critical from confirming, though... As for the duration of WaE, it's rounds for the item affected - so it's cast, then its first round would occur whenever the user attacked with it. For one's own weapon, that would be their next round.

Tarov's glaive struck a heavy blow - Julian's weapon, not so much. Rowan's followup, however, was enough to take down the Dretch assaulting her, leaving only the one opposing Julian... or so it would seem, as a high-pitched cry came from behind Rowan and a small flying creature with a jackal-like head, far too many teeth, and grayish skin suddenly unleashed an assault on her at the same time the last Dretch scratched at Tarov.

Dretch 3: Attacking Tarov

The blow was sound but the demons skin was far harder, liking cutting shark hide...

"By Desna's wings I will strike you DOWN!" His roar of challenge at the Dretch was nearly interrupted by the appearance of a winged menace in their midst now...

Planes, Rowan. XD I said -Planes-. Fortunately, you're also trained in that...

The new creature is a type of Corrupter Demon known as a Barizou - they're intentionally among the weaker servants of the infernal realms... so weak, in fact, that novice spellcasters can easily summon them up from the Abyss (which is, of course, the point). However, they remain surprisingly dangerous despite their small size - it's never wise to underestimate the servants of the Abyss. More problematically, this type of demon is capable of turning invisible...

...as it promptly did, simply vanishing into the air before anyone could react as the badly injured dretch bared its fangs and scratched at Tarov. Foul creatures, these...

She didn't think anyone would understand her and she focused her ability to detect evil in the direction the flying Corrupter Demon used to be in an attempt to locate it. If she detects an Aura she will point in its direction.

Also, I grabbed Celestial from my point in Linguistics when I leveled up. Do I need to spend some time practicing and stuff to know how to speak/understand what Rowan is saying, or do I count as fluent already?

You just count as fluent already.

The dretch finally fell under the combined force of the blows, but the Barizou didn't seem to be in the range of the detect evil power Rowan had... which miiiight have been because it had reappeared just behind Tarov, biting and slashing.

Rowan turned forcing down the anger that welled up within her breast at her foolishness. Seeing Tarov's bloodied state she laid a hand on his should and called upon the Lady of Valor's blessing to assuage and close his some of his wounds.

The sword of Valor on her chest glowed brightly as the divine might of her lady surged through and into the noble dwarf. Miraculously his wounds were greatly lessened...

She frowned as Julian spoke in the foul language of the Abyss, however her curse didn't allow her to speak anything but the language of the heavens in battle. So she sung once more. She pauses in her attacks and focuses on summoning up divine force again to pummel the demon in the nether's and hopefully drive it to the ground...

Round 8

The morningstar whistled through the air and crashed against the creature, though it wasn't enough to badly harm it. The fact that it was harmed wasn't in question, though, as a bit of blood had gotten onto the weapon. Julian's attack was likewise a hit, though Tarov's missed, and that was all the group had time for before the demon managed another furious assault.

Barizou: Targeting Rowan

Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Its claws came close to the Paladin, but weren't quite enough to hit her.

Round 9

Rowan's morningstar struck again, dealing a little bit more damage before Tarov slammed into the creature with his glaive. For all of its toughness, that was a major blow, and it let out a cry of pain before continuing its assault.

Barizou: Targeting Rowan

Round 10

Julian's blade cut into the demon's hide, and Tarov defended himself, but Rowan was the one that had the demon's attention - and as she cast, the demon lashed out in an attack of opportunity.

Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

It wasn't enough to stop the spell, though, and Rowan's spell struck it a moment later.

Fortitude: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

The creature abruptly looked quite sickened, though it hadn't taken damage from the attack. (Because reasons - a good thing to keep in mind for this campaign, considering the prevalence of DR among the foes you'll fight)

Barizou: Targeting Rowan
Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 for Damage: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1

One of its claws managed to land despite its sickness, though it wasn't a very impressive strike on its part. The demon was still alive, but just as clearly, it had been badly wounded during the course of combat, and didn't have much vitality left.

Over a minute had passed since they had engaged these creatures and so far Julian felt fine, his legs were burning but years of practice ensured he maintained a high endurance and his scimitar blade wasn't as heavy or awkward as a mace or longsword. Allowing him freedom of movement and allowing him to lay the weight of his weapon across his shoulder in times where he was merely dodging attacks.

All and all he was a lean fighter.

This flying pest was getting on his last nerve though, so he swung again with his scimitar. Hoping to shave this puny creature down to size...

I think Rowan only took 1 damage after all of that, since Tarov stopped the initial hit before she healed herself she [i]should/[i] be 1 hp from being full. Right?

I'm actually tempted to say 'No', but...

Rowan's morningstar failed to do damage - Julian's scimitar staggered the creature, though, and Tarov's revitalizing strike sent a wave of healing energy into Rowan as the last of the demons collapsed. It seemed that the long assault was finally at an end - and perhaps more importantly, the way ahead was clear.

Incidentally, a quick look over the bodies revealed 90 GP and a Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds, apparently scavenged from the city. Only the Barizou was carrying anything of value - the Dretches didn't seem like they were permitted such luxuries.

The battle at an end the light in Rowans eyes faded and her voice returned to normal. "I Pray the Eagles Watch still stands firm, its clear that our struggle will only get worse from here on in my companion's." She was deeply contemplating the path ahead and what else they would face but for now they could only do one thing. Keep Moving Forward.

She picks up the Potion and hands it to Tarov. "It is clear the Demons dislike the two of us, but you need this more than I friend Tarov. May it aid you." She tosses the gold to the tiefling, nodding to him but saying little else as she waves for the survivors to rejoin them and presses forward to Blackwing Library.

The rest of the journey to the library is quick and quiet - though not without worries of its own, as it's clear there are still other foes within the city (and not so far away). However, as you arrive, it becomes clear that the building has been badly damaged by attacks from demons - it lies in ruins, and all that's left are the facade and great hall. Aravashnial quietly sunk to the ground as the news was relayed to him, a low moan coming out of the elf's mouth as he realized the magnitude of the destruction. The elf hasn't noticed yet, but a faint voice can be heard from within...

Tarov's words cleared his mind some but he was still fairly certain that Crusaders wouldn't be acting like this. In a calm and clear voice he explained a better plan. "Tarov, when would a crusader yell at someone to stack Books better? Think clearly. This doesn't sound right, at all. Now if they are the enemy they won't be as suspicious of another demon spawn Tiefling. Especially..." A flash of insight made him realize that his symbol of Desna would be a clear indication of where his alliance stood.

He grips the scale and transforms. He becomes a foot taller, more muscular and brutish looking. His wings remain but he creates a pair of ram horns on either side of his head and transforms his symbol of Desna into an illusory one of Baphomet. "When I look like this. But if they see all of us..." He didn't know how else to say it. "Just trust me on this. Stay just a few paces out of sight, if its a mistake we can clear it up easily with her being here." He nods to Rowan.

"If it isn't safe I will give you an indication and you'll know it when I say it." He looks to the moaning Riftwarden. "Aravashnial, is there anything of importance here? People, objects?"

"Hey, finally noticed me, have you? It's about time. Just let me finish setting this up so I can torch them and we'll be outta this dump, yeah?" At his words, the bound librarians start making frantic noises, but their binds are too tight to escape.

...It was vaguely possible the man had misunderstood Julian's purpose and identity.

Julian's taller form arcs an eyebrow before he grumbles angrily, confused before speaking in a mocking tone. "Torch them! What a waste of useful sacrifices! Leave them to me, for I have a better task for you. There is a Paladin of Iomedae nearby, bring her to me and I will be pleased."

He advances towards the group, never losing his stride nor hesitating. Appearing extremely aggressive and watching each of them angrily. He hoped Tarov heard him.

Didn't know if I needed to roll these, as Julian is telling the truth although he doesn't want them to capture Rowan, but he does want them away from the librarians... So yeah, its a hard sell but by this guys words it sounds like he Might do it. xD

Bluff if needed?: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Intimidate if needed?: 1d20 ⇒ 17

Did anyone else here what was said from the guy? Or just Julian?

Tarov grits his teeth as he gets the gist of Julian's plan. He settles down into his defensive stance, ready to strike at the men as they exit the building. "Get ready, lass. We got company," he bites out in a low voice, weapon poised to strike.

Tarov uses Defensive Focus (full-round action).

At first she felt a surge of anger before seeing Tarov tense and then she felt foolish. She was very thankful no one was looking at her at that moment. She than readied her mace and prepared to move forward. "Ready to rush them Tarov." That fool is playing a dangerous game. Than it hit her. Does he still have those vials left... She gripped her mace more fiercely than.

Move action, if it sounds like they aren't falling for Julian's trickery, move into the room. 30ft move.

Gah Intimidate doesn't work because that would take a full minute. :/

He will ready an Standard Action to throw a bomb than if they don't fall for the bluff. He will aim for whoever is grouped up. Aiming to hit the one in the center of the group or whoever is closest to him. He will keep the Librarian's out of Line of Fire. Let me know if you want me to roll.

*Rolls Sense Motive* You're lucky modifiers exist. XD

"A Paladin? You serious?" the man said, his mouth splitting into a grin. The two tieflings with him exchanged nods and formed up behind him. "This won't take more than a few minutes, though... and maybe their screams'll draw her out. Light 'em up, boys!" he said, and one of the tieflings moved to grab a lit torch from further back in the room.
