Isilme turns just in time to see the massive spray of acid shooting down the hall, drenching her companions. The giant worm seemed to be considerably larger and more dangerous than they had expected. She hoped that glitterdust would be sufficient to buy them some time to get things under control.

"The great wyrm thought itself invincible; A vanquisher of foes. In a thousand battles it had stared down its foes with supreme confidence. As it gazed into the eyes of the woman beneath it, however, a shiver ran down its spine. For the first time it knew doubt..."

As she finishes her recitation, Isilme holds her palm out and blows across it, unleashing a spray of golden sparks towards the creature's head, coating it completely in the shining metal flakes she'd used so many times before.

With that out of the way, she readies her bow, channeling magic into it as she had against the allips.

Hinagiku’s stance quickly chances when she hears the creature speaking. She seems to let her guard down for a brief moment, preparing to answer back. That is until she ducks away from the huge jet of acid.

Rolling back to her feet, she speaks up the others just as Valaria launches her knives at the creatures.
”Fiendish, but wait… it’s a sentient creature? And there is no trace of corruption around… we can’t just murder it.” she says calmly as she runs towards the creature, interposing herself between the giant worm and her companions.

Just realized that detect evil is targeted when used by a paladin. Should I reuse at the beginning of the round? Also, I noticed that I never mentioned studying my domain spell… because I cannot replace it with anything. Should I consider that I will only have access to it on the next day? If there is no need for one more detect evil, and I have access to comprehend language, I will cast it before running towards the monster.

WotR Global Buffs/Debuffs: ----

Detect Evil is per the spell as a standard action, or, alternatively, a paladin can use a move action to determine whether or not a target is evil instantly (skips the 3 rounds thing). So if you want to do that then yes you can use a move action....I always assume Detect Evil is done as a standard cone.

You can assume you only have comprehend language prepared, then.

As Hinagiku closes with the creature, the worm lunges forward like a snake... she easily tumbles out of the way.

Gargantuan Death Worm Will Save vs glitterdust (Dirge of Doom): 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 5 - 2 = 22

When the ludicrously large worm comes bursting out of the shadows, Ehren's eyes go wide... only to be shut again as he is doused the monster's acid, powerful enough to overwhelm his magical resistance. Ary uses a swift action to change stances to +good-aligned, then full-action attacks Wormy McWormface, with a five foot step. Anevia fires a force arrow from cover at Wormy McWormface, using Pinhole Gambit, and tries to snipe (Not sure how tremorsense interacts with stealth; it knows her square but can't necessarily 'see' her, right?). A successful hit from Ary will trigger Armiger's Mark (+2 AC to not-Ary allies, 11% Spell Failure), leaving her with one use left.

As the snowball from Ehren simply leaves a glossy sheen on the creature Ary frowns. "Well..." She then hefts the hammer, bringing her stance from wide to narrow. Each arc of the Lucerne Hammer is highlighted by energy that doesn't spread, nor linger. Acid drips off of her still singing her, "Spread out. I can't easily reach my scale, Val, can you?"

Anevia pops out of her cover to fire off a force sword. "Monster hunt..?" she asks, raising an eyebrow to Xanderghul.

Hinagiku:
The creature has a moderately evil aura.

Tremorsense: still need to make a perception check to trump stealth for sneak attack purposes (it finds squares, like blindsense, rather than ignores concealment, like blindsight)

Thunk! Ary's first strike is too weak to do much more than cleave off a chunk of armored flesh. On her second attempt, Ary's blessed hammer punches through the worm's rocky skin, and she feel the sickening clunk as it digs into its innards. The worm reels and cries in pain, writhing in agony as she pulls her hammer back from the wound. Anevia looses off another force sword, aiming at the wound that Ary left. It smashes off another chunk of carapace with another solid thunk!, leaving a prime opening for the others...

The worm roars with pain and confusion. "መግደል ... እገድላችኋለሁ ... ሥጋችሁ ትንንሾቼ እንዲሞቅ ያደርጋል ..." it rumbles. It takes a moment to shake the snow out of its eyes before rearing back... then launches itself against Ary. It grips her into its enormous maw, crunching its teeth into her flesh and bone. She grips her lucerne hammer and spears the roof of its mouth with the blade of the weapon... the worm screams and spits her out. She pushes herself off the ground, the world going blurry from the poison coursing through her veins.

"kill... I will kill you... your flesh will keep my little ones warm... "

DC 12 Int or DC 17 K.Nature:

Note that the -5 AC debuff wears off on Anevia's turn, so you must go before her to take advantage of it. Armiger's Mark wears off on Ary's turn.

Still sizzling after his acid bath, Ehren looks from the lithe monk to the gargantuan worm and blanches. He had seen her topple enemies several times her size before, but the enormity of this monster put them all too shame.

"It's not likely to do anything that will put its eggs at risk," he counters, in one of the worst possible places to have a disagreement. "Angering it even more might just make our situation worse."

While not too keen on being blasted by acid again, stopping the poison that was currently affecting Ary was of greater concern to him. He knew that he could either delay it or neutralize it entirely... but given the possibility of being poisoned again, the latter seemed less practical at the moment. Ehren pulls out one of his scrolls, reads its magical text, and then presses a hand against Ary's leg.

He casts a spell, touching Valaria. As he does so, her form blurs and shifts, obscuring her true location. "I can't make the creature think that its eggs are being smashed unless I make some fake eggs. However, I can put some people over there threatening it if you would want me to. Maybe we can buy some time for a few attacks at range against it."

Though she knew she was unlikely to be able to scratch the creature with her arrows, Isilme decides to take a chance. If she could just get its attention and then attack one of the eggs, she could likely cause it to enrage. With a bit of magic and subterfuge, she could then escape while the others focused on bringing it down quickly. Or that's how she hoped it would go.

She quickly traces the rune she used to inspire her allies, filling the hall with dim silver light for a moment. As the feeling of confidence washes over her, she knocks the first of her arrows--her speed bolstered by Xanderghul's haste spell--She fires at the creature's maw, hoping to at least get it to look her way. When the first arrow lodges itself in its carapace, she knocks her second arrow. This time, aiming carefully for one of the unarmored pits that passed for eyes on the creature, she takes a deep breath. Song of Spheres, guide my arrow she thinks to herself.

Unleashing it, she turns away towards the eggs before even seeing the results and snaps off a shot at the nearest egg, hoping to shatter it outright. She then takes a step towards the eggs, hoping that will be sufficient to attract draw its ire.

"Xanderghul, now would be a good time to follow up with that illusion. I will be disappearing next round, but Anevia's suggestion should keep it focused on the eggs."

Xanderghul pushes his way towards the front, murmuring a spell as he goes. He reaches out and touches Valaria as she retreats, causing her outline to blur... she backs up a pace, reaches into her pack and draws her scale, blessing her weapon with its lingering power.

Meanwhile, Ary focuses - mind over matter - mentally pushing away the hold the poison has on her until it has none... her vision refocuses. There is no defense the wounded worm can muster against the brutish might of her swings... Ehren then uses one of his scrolls he had stashed away to help ward Ary further from poison, delaying its effects... if for a little while. From behind them, Anevia fires off a mostly-blind shot - it harmlessly clatters against the stone wall, then vanishes into thin air.

I moved Anevia on the battlemap her maximum distance she could make using fading shot.. she could move 2 squares to the right if she wants, but the tunnel is pitch black beyond that... does she want to move further?

Isilme's first shot doesn't even penetrate the worm's hide, but she is undeterred. She draws back and fires... her shot flies true, straight into its beady little eye. Afterwards she turns and fires straight into one of the eggs - it explodes into a mass of gooey acid, thick, poisonous smoke furls around the point of impact. The worm's nostrils flare and it roars - the very cavern's walls trembling with its fury. It opens its great maw wider and wider, and a spark of red electricity forms inside the darkness. The worm focuses the crackling energy all at once - and an enormous beam of lightning surges forth and into the azata bard, blinding everyone temporarily. Once the light finally vanishes, Isilme is left there, singed black from the might of the worm's attack.

Ary uses 1 mythic power to dispel poison.... she doesn't take CON damage now, but she is still poisoned. Ary deals 31 damage to the death worm, grazing it. Anevia is invisible. Hinagiku adopts total defense. Isilme deals 14 damage on a crit (ignores DR per crit roll). She destroys an egg, releasing its noxious gas. Valaria enchants a starknife with good using Terendelev's scale. Ehren uses a scroll of delay poison to delay the effects of Ary's poison.... she is temporarily immune to poison for hrs/lvl. The gargantuan death worm smites Isilme and then deals 36 damage to her, grazing her. It also moves forwards.

Hinagiku tilts her head backward to get a full view of the gargantuan worm towering over her. She had been on the defensive so far, hoping the worm would focus on her, but it wasn’t so. So I can't see the map, so I don't know the distance ratios... hopefully this works.

Xanderghul steps away from the gargantuan creature to ensure some distance between him and the massive worm. He casts a shadow spell, weaving his prowess with illusion together with material from the Shadow Plane and knowledge of the multiverse. He creates a creature from the Abyss which would resist the poison of the eggs enough to survive - a bipedal demonic creature. He commands the creature in Abyssal and it dashes towards the eggs, causing one-fifth of a footfall with each step.

The creature swings a claw at one of the eggs as well.

Cast shadow conjuration to summon a fake dretch, which then dashes towards the eggs and tries to smash one. I want to create it outside of the worm's threatened range if possible.

WRONG ALIAS

Ducking around the corner, Isilme invokes her bardic magic, causing her to vanish from sight completely. "I will head for the tunnel in a moment. Hopefully it takes the bait."

Should've made it more obvious, but we have two more rounds of lingering performance from mythic performance which I used last round now.

Xanderghul:

Please click on this link for a screenshot of the current map.

As you can see, you are solidly in the worm's range, because it advanced forwards. You can indeed summon a dretch, placing it out of the worm's threatened range. There is no square that you can 5' step to that is safe. Moving out of range would trigger an AoO. Please let me know what you want to do.

-----

Audit: Isilme switched from dirge of doom to inspire courage. This adds 9 damage to Hinagiku's last attack.

Book keeping: Isilme moves to a spot with cover from the worm and goes invisible.

Ehren, Xanderghul, Valaria, and Ary/Anevia are up!

Val shifts forward, stepping up behind the monk as she assaults the worm. "Stay strong. This thing isn't nearly strong enough to take all of us together." A story comes to mind and she begins to recite. It's an ancient Varisian tale of a wanderer who faces seven days and nights of suffering until even his family believes him dead, but he emerges safe and whole through his determination and his inner strength.

I will delay until after Valaria. If someone provokes an AoO I'll cast my spell as normal (without casting defensively, counting on that the worm doesn't have Combat Reflexes or positive Dex). If she doesn't, I'll try to cast defensively. Either way I'll take a 5' step back.

Cast Defensively: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21

I'm willing to draw an AoO and maybe take a hit to open up Xan's casting window. I'm at full HP, so I can afford the hit if I fail to dodge with Sun Dips Low. I'll move forward 10 feet to I'm next to Hinagiku instead of behind her.

Ehren grimaces when the others start to destroy the eggs, enraging the worm as expected, but it was hardly the time to argue against it. Unfortunately, given the limited space in the cave and the death worm's numerous defenses, there was very little that he could do. With Hinagiku and Valaria now facing the beast head on, Ehren waves his hand, attempting to blind the worm with a flash of searing radiance.

Casting burst of radiance, centered on the death worm's bottom left corner; I don't think it should catch anyone in its radius there.
Caster Level vs. SR (Grazed): 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 8 - 1 = 10 nope

WotR Global Buffs/Debuffs: ----

Working together as a team, Valaria moves forward arrogantly, hoping to distract the monster from Xanderghul's spellcasting. The worm lunges at her, but its mouth closes around her illusionary double - foiled by the wizard's protective magic. By the time she has closed the distance, Xanderghul has finished his spell- conjuring a shadowy dretch to attack its eggs, which explode into clouds of poisonous gas - but the dretch of course, is immune to such things, and is unharmed. The worm rears up and roars, hearing the sound of its eggs breaking, even if it cannot see the perpetrator. It looks for Isilme, but sees nothing.

Gargantuan Death Worm AoO vs Valaria Sun Dips Low (grazed, power attack): 1d20 + 20 - 4 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 20 - 4 - 1 = 31
Gargantuan Death Worm vs Displacement: 1d100 ⇒ 17

Book keeping: Xanderghul delays to after Valaria. Dirge of Doom ends on Isilme's turn. Valaria initiates Inspire Courage. We are still in Isilme's lingering Inspire Courage (until her turn on round 4, or if she chooses to start a new performance) so the bonus continues to be +3. Xanderghul conjures a shadow dretch and it destroys an egg. Ehren casts burst of radiance but fails vs SR.

Ary and Anevia are up!

Please note that since Ary and Anevia go first, any AoOs they trigger will be directed at them instead of Valaria.

Ary, meanwhile steps to the side, trying to move into a more advantageous position, before bringing the hammer down in heavy arcs once more; she seems to be having a significant issue with overextending, however. The first time she connects, her swirling motes flow out from faith at her side and into her, however, taking away some of the bite of the acid.

WotR Global Buffs/Debuffs: ----

The worm simply slithers past the heroes, pressing them all up against the walls of the cavern. Its long, long tail extends past it into the darkness, out of the heroes' sight entirely. It lunges at the dretch, grasping it between its sharp teeth and swallows.

The gargantuan death worm provokes AoOs from Valaria, Hinagiku, and Ary... should you choose to do so.

Maybe... maybe that wasn't the best of ideas. Practically pressed up against the gargantuan worm, Xanderghul takes a long gulp. Fortunately, unlike Material Plane prey, Xanderghul hadn't evolved to freeze when panicked. Demons will still eat or murder you if you hold still. Concentrating on one of his simpler spells, Xanderghul simply vanishes from sight and scrambles away from the worm on all fours as fast as he can.

With a twisting maneuver, Valaria rolls her strike around the worm's defenses, aiming for the gap in its armor left by Ary. She strikes twice - hard and fast.. she withdraws her blade, dripping with its blood. The blood corrodes through her starknife, nearly destroying it completely.

Corrosive blood deals 1 damage to Valaria's starknife, it has 1 HP remaining. Xanderghul casts vanish and moves down into the side-tunnel, out of the worm's range.

It takes all of Hinagiku's focus and energy to jump out of the worm's way as it wriggles toward its eggs. But, as she does, her heart beat increases, causing the poison in her blood to course through her veins faster. And, as she quickly stands back up next to Valaria, she becomes dizzy and almost looses her footing in the green good that covers the cavern.

Ary winces, not from her wounds, but from the damage to her cape as the creature presses her bodily against the wall. She glares, taking a step back to get a clearer shot on her foe before bringing the massive Lucerne Hammer around in heavy arcs, slamming into the creature over and over, the glow radiating from each impact, before she broadens her stance, allowing her to guard over her allies in the event they need to retreat.

Another silver sword appears from nowhere highlighting Anevia's silhouette as she appears, her blade making its way into the open wound her allies had made before dissipating in a shower of white sparks. She's taken a step back from the beast during the shot, her free hand gripping a cold iron and white feathered arrow as she trains her bow on the monstrosity before them, readying her next shot.
