The skum guy takes a step back from Etrigan when he sees the outsider's sharp teeth and claws. "Yes, the aboleth was trapped here long time ago when the Earthfall hit Golarion. Most of us were captured in Blackcove and brought here. What happened next, I don't remember. I remember only a few sentences were somebody told us that we are going back to our heritage. But that's all."
Eshshah |
Eshshah steps in before Iason can do any more harm to the newly freed people "Yes, you're free of that enslavement now. It's going to be a little trouble figuring out how to get you all out of here but we'll sort something out."
Iason Blaise |
Sorry! Very hectic weekend
Iason merely arches a lazy brow at Eshshah. "Yes-- I have a method to get everyone out. In service of Asmodeus is strength... and many, many solutions," he says smoothly.
He sends Etrigan 'home' with a snap of his fingers.
"We'll return to the base of the shaft by which we dropped, at which point I can call up an enormous bat, large enough to carry a man. It will serve us by ferrying us out of this underground complex."
He looks over at the skum. "Unless you fine fellows know some other method to exit? Surely the dead magician wasn't climbing up and down that pit all the time."
Iason Blaise |
If there is something else we need down here, we've apparently missed it, so.
Iason shrugs at the skum. "Suit yourselves, of course. If you're confident you can dig your way out, it is your own affair; I myself am not so patient. Best of luck, and hail the Prince of Law."
He sloshes back through the caverns towards the base of the Iris by which they entered, with the others in tow. Once there, he calls up a great bat with ten-foot wingspan, which appears in a burst of sulfur and brimstone.
"Ferry service," Iason says drily. "And I don't even charge two coppers..."

You have everything, you found out what happens to the villagers and why they go missing, you found out why the beasts of the ocean turn against the people of Blackcove. And you found out what happened to Gerlach. There were basically two options to stop the nightmare: kill the Aboleth which controlled the villagers and the machine in the tower or to disable the machine which is needed by the beast to control the weather and the ocean.
Talking to the spirits at the graveyard would have earned you some boni to the spellcraft check to disable the machine. But apart from that you discovered everything.
While the villagers continue to dig the hole into the wall Iason summons a bat creature to fly everybody to the surface. Once everybody is up you hear a crash followed by the sound of water filling the tunnels below.
With the defeat of Gerlach and Mohl’omog, you have removed the threat to the village of Blackcove and may return to the mainland. Upon arriving in Blackcove, you are met by Gervus, Lira, Nicolaius, and the rescued villagers, who give you your promised reward.
Iason Blaise |
Iason is somewhat insufferable about the mighty power of Asmodeus, as displayed when it comes to getting them out of this pit, but after the villagers have all been reunited and the accolades dispensed, he pauses to shake the hand of any in the group who are willing, at least.
"You're a skilled group of fellow Pathfinders and I am pleased to have journeyed with you," he says with a nod. "Should you need my services in the future, simply ask at the Lodge, hm?"
Etrigan, resummoned once more, offers a more mocking bow to the others.
"May your road lead to your destination
"May your blades never know stagnation
"May your spells burn bright, and your arrows fly true
"And may you always, dear souls, give the Devil his due."
Thanks for a great game, everyone!
Li Shuo |
Li claps his hand and offers a rare smile. "Not bad, oni. Not bad. Take good care of your master, will you?"
Always a pleasure, folks!
Also, give it up for Dien/Iason. Great characterization of two characters and in rhyming couplets at that!
I expect iambic pentameter next time!
Thanks GM Baerlie! Great game!
