Acrobatics - ACP: 1d20 + 3 - 0 ⇒ (1) + 3 - 0 = 4 :-(
*fistbumps Daegon* Hello, brother in dice! ;-)
Vreekka tries to follow Cannoli's example, but fails spectacularly.
”Uh... a little help, please?"
mike's character
|
Would Lucinus be able to take out and use his wand of infernal healing between navigating obstacles? If so he will do that between the first two obstacles (unless holding it will cause penalties on the subsequent skill checks).
Lucinus attempts to parkour past the mites...
acrobatics: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
Guardian XI
|
This is going to go well...
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (11) - 2 = 9
| GM Shadow Dragon |
@Lucinus: Yes he can use his wand. As a reminder as long as it isn't longer than a "full round action" a PC can do it. If he doesn't have a spring-loaded wrist sheath then it's a move to retrieve the wand and a standard to use it.
Still smarting from her tail getting squashed by a cabinet Cannoli easily evades the mites.
Lucinus also manages to avoid them.
Daegon, Vreekka, and Guardian XI all get grabbed. Since he killed their brethren Guardian XI gets punched below the belt - ouch!
Daegon takes: 1d3 ⇒ 3
Vreekka takes: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Guardian XI takes: 1d3 ⇒ 2
| GM Shadow Dragon |
The group manages to flee the grabby mites and reach the flood cellar. The rolling barrels make movement in the flooded cellar difficult.
To dive under them, a PC must succeed at a DC 12 Constitution check. To slip to the side, a PC must succeed at a DC 12 Swim check. With a Swim check remember to add any ACP.
Obstacle Course!
Round 3 – Roll out the barrels!
Vreekka [-7]
Grizzlebin [-24]
Cannoli [-2]
Lucinus [-3]
Guardian XI [-7]

I did think he had a wrist sheath, but upon checking it looks like he doesn't. Which I guess makes things a bit more tricky as infernal healing has a cast time of 1 round which would take the total to more than a round's worth of action when the time to retrieve the wand is included.
The dhampir does his best to swim past the churning barrels...
swim: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Guardian XI
|
Okay, I can do this a litttle better. Can we please get a sword challenge?
swim (acp): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Cannoli Jones
|
Between
Cannoli taps Vreeka on the shoulder, healing energy flooding the elf when she asks for help, ”There ya go. It’s gonna be ok.”
CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Now
”Oh this is easy, just hold your breath and dive under.”
Con: 1d20 ⇒ 5
A few moments later you see that her confidence was not warranted when the catfolk bursts out of the water, gagging and choking. Snot pouring from her nose she hacks and coughs and spits out water, ”I think… *cough* …I th… *ptew* …I swallowed a bug.”
*GAG*
| GM Shadow Dragon |
Lucinus swims like he's a merman rather than a dhampir.
Guardian XI also swims quite well but in slipping to the side a rubber ducky floats out of his backpack.
Cannoli heals Vreekka because helping the elderly comes natural for her nurturing nature.
She then dives like every catfolk is born to do - right? However she doesn't manage to hold her breath and takes in a lungful of the cold, putrid, murky, stinky, awful, broth of DEATH! that's been ageing in this cellar for decades. Tasty!
Can someone catch a disease from this stuff???
Cannoli takes: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Total of 5 HP damage for Cannoli to this point.
Daegon Marketti
|
Daegon mumbles something under his breath to del with the bruises he's taken...so far...[/ooc]casting Infernal Healing.
He then tries to hold his breath as he dives underneath the barrels.
con: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
wow...i actually almost made that...fml...
Vreekka The Brainiac
|
"Thanks, Cannoli! Grizzlebin, you're also injured. This should help a little!"
Vreekka draws her wand of CLW, taps the Agathion and activates it.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Swim - ACP: 1d20 + 2 - 0 ⇒ (4) + 2 - 0 = 6
She then tries to slip to the side, but with the effect of her extract gone her movements are stiff...
| GM Shadow Dragon |
| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Vreekka's movements are stiff because, well, she's OLD! She still has enough flexibility to heal some of Cannoli's wounds.
Vreekka takes: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Botting Jakeric and Grizzlebin:
Jakeric attempts to dive under the barrels:
Dive Dive Dive!: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
And he submerges under the barrels and pops up safely on the other side. Who would've thought someone so gangly and awkward would be so athletic?
Grizzlebin tries to go around the barrels:
Butterfly: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
And looks more like a native of the Plane of Water in doing so. What a showoff!
| GM Shadow Dragon |
The heroes emerge from the fetid bog stinkier than before but in one piece. The precarious stairs leading out of the basement are falling apart.
Vreekka [-2]
Grizzlebin [-24]
Cannoli [-3]
Lucinus [-3]
Guardian XI [-7]
Jakeric [-3; updated for Round 4]
Daegon [-8]
I think this is correct. Vreekka was healed fully by Cannoli but then took 2 HP when trying to swim. Cannoli was healed a bit. Lucinus hasn't used his wand yet? And Daegon's casting will take time to work?
Obstacle Course!
Round 4 - Stairway to Heaven
To scramble up them, a PC must succeed at a DC 13 Climb check. To tread carefully, a PC must succeed at a DC 14 Perception check. If going with the Climb check remember any ACP.
| GM Shadow Dragon |
Botting because Grizzlebin can't miss this check. If anyone is going with the Climb option Grizzlein will give one PC a +2 bonus. The bonus won't go to Jakeric since, with the boost, either roll would be at +1.
Grizzlebin ambles up the stairs easily and assists someone else who struggles a bit.
Jakeric, more perceptive than athletic, tries to find a clear pathway up the stairs:
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
But the dust clouds his vision and some of the debris strikes the young summoner.
Jakeric takes: 1d3 ⇒ 3
Cannoli Jones
|
Take 10 with her climb speed for 20?
The catfolk clambers like a clamberin’ fool. Emphasis on the fool.
| GM Shadow Dragon |
She sure can! Having a Climb speed means she (and Grizzlebin) can take 10 even when distracted or threatened. :)
Cannoli is so confident in her climbing abilities she does a pirouette through the ruins of the stairway! It's so magnificent one of the mites trying to escape the webbing holds up a card with '10' on it.
Vreekka, Guardian XI, and Lucinus have yet to traverse the stairway...of DEATH! ;)

After taking out the wand Lucinus will hold off on using it for the moment.
Lucinus attempts to scramble up the stairs out of the basement...
climb: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Guardian XI
|
I shall tread carefully... until we get our proper sword challenge.
DC14 Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

I think this is correct. Vreekka was healed fully by Cannoli but then took 2 HP when trying to swim. Cannoli was healed a bit. Lucinus hasn't used his wand yet? And Daegon's casting will take time to work?
It's nearly correct. But Vreekka healed Grizzlebin, not Cannoli.
Vreekka tries to tread carefully...
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

Ah okay so Vreekka wants Cannoli to go paws up eh? Poor Cannoli! ;)
Vreekka manages to find a path to hobble through and up the stairs.

Round 5 – Panic in the Kitchen! (and the Disco)
Vreekka [-2]
Grizzlebin [-21]
Cannoli [-6]
Lucinus [-3]
Guardian XI [-7]
Jakeric [-3]
Daegon [-8]
HP totals I think are correct now since Vreekka didn't want to heal poor Cannoli.
As the group ascends the stairs they enter the kitchen where a stream of frenzied rats blocks the way out. Someone keep Cannoli from pouncing on them!
To herd them away, a PC must succeed at a DC 10 Knowledge (nature) or Handle Animal check. To tough out the situation and wade through the rats, a PC must succeed at a DC 11 Fortitude saving throw.
Cannoli Jones
|
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
The catfolk gives a knowing grin, ”I know how to handle this. These critters need reacquainted to a real predator.”
Her hackles raise and she releases a loud series of *Hisses* as she aggressively moves through the room.
mike's character

Lucinus relies on his momentum and attempts to power his way through the swarm of rodents...
fortitude: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
| GM Shadow Dragon |
Cannoli's feline ferocity scares the rats out of her way. Wait is that a rat tail sticking out of her mouth? Oof better not to know...
Lucinus tries to hold his lunch but no such luck and the rats totally gross him out. I mean totally!
Lucinus takes: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Daegon's mixed ancestry is nothing the rats want anything to do with and they part their way for him!
Vreekka, Guardian XI, Jakeric, and Grizzlebin still to go.
Vreekka The Brainiac
|
Vreekka taps Grizzlebin with her wand again.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
She then recalls methods to herd the rats away - and she shares her knowledge with anyone near who's listening.
Knowledge: Nature t, penalty to help someone else: 1d20 + 17 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 17 - 2 = 19
Jakeric
|
"Rats are better than d-d-demons!" shouts Jakeric, still angry that the Sarinis would stoop so low. Devils are one things--they can at least be reasoned with--but only the worst fools would summon demons!
Knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
| Grizzlebin |
Meanwhile, Grizzlebin wades through the mass of vermin, trusting his divine flesh to endure their bites.
Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Thanks for all the botting, GM! I love a good skill challenge and was sorry to miss it.
| GM Shadow Dragon |
The young summoner tries to conjure up some knowledge on how to handle rats but he can't come up with anything useful and the rats bite him!
Jakeric takes: 1d3 ⇒ 3
Grizzlebin follows Cannoli's example but apparently agathions aren't feared like cats and the rats take a bite out of him too!
Grizzlebin takes: 1d3 ⇒ 2
As Jakeric and Grizzlebin swat a few rats hanging from them the group escapes through the kitchen into and through the pantry and breakfast room out into the garden. As they look back they can surmise the entire estate has collapsed due to the size of the dust cloud rising from the ground.
Perc Cannoli: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16 (drkv, 30ft sight)
Perc Guardian XI: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Perc Vreekka: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 (low-light)
Perc Daegon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Perc Lucinus: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Perc Jakeric: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Perc Grizzlebin: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Guardian XI thinks he hears movement not far away. Cannoli and Grizzlebin squint and see some movement towards what used to be the front of the estate.
What do you do? I moved the estate map back to Slide 2 and placed your tokens in the 'Poison Garden' from earlier. Vreekka will remind everyone what not to touch to stay safe. There's dust and debris flying around so visibility is almost nil.

| GM Shadow Dragon |
Cannoli yells out towards the house and wherever, ”Anilda! ARE YOU OK?!?”
Cannoli hears some coughing and sees the dust swirl as something moves towards her voice.
"That was most...unpleasant. I'm okay but a bit bruised. It was difficult to escape and I was hit by debris on my way out."
Even though she can't see, Anilda looks back towards the wreckage of the Sarini Estate.
"It wasn't much but it was home."
Cannoli Jones
|
Cannoli gives a small smile, ”It does suck. But I’ve found that home is where you make it, not just where you used to be. You have any plans now? You seem to have some natural home care or mothering skills, I mean once you figure out what critters or people actually need mothering.”
Dissuade an NPC from working with an organization that directly opposes the Pathfinder Society or the Sovereign Court’s
goals during an adventure by presenting the NPC with evidence that doing so is contrary to her interests. This requires a
successful Bluff, Intimidate, Knowledge (local), or Sense Motive check with a DC equal to 15 + your character level.

** spoiler omitted **
Sighing and slumping her shoulders, Anilda replies "No plans. I don't know where anything is since I am a stranger to this land."
She smiles at Cannoli's compliment.
Guardian XI
|
Before (rats!)...
tough out the situation and wade through the rats (DC11 Fortitude): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Haha! They tickle!
Now...
Guardian turns to look back at the massive cloud of dust rising from the wreckage.
Whoa! Just in time!
He hears Cannoli and Anilda's voices and begins to carefully, slowly move towards them through the debris.
We should get to open air fast! I hear you organisms can't breath well in this dust!
Cannoli Jones
|
”Well, you could always go with us. I’ve even got a homestead out in the mountains I claimed from goblins a couple weeks ago. Might make a good place to get a start learning about this world.”
| GM Shadow Dragon |
Guardian XI ushers the group away from the remains of the estate and its spreading dust cloud.
Cannoli begins recruiting her first resident to her place of power to begin her conquest of the world. Or maybe just to tidy the place up? Who can say...
Given that we started this merry module back in September 2024 I'll make this a DC 0 Wisdom check: The people of Saringallow would freak out seeing something as odd as Anilda.

Given that we started this merry module back in September 2024 I'll make this a DC 0 Wisdom check: The people of Saringallow would freak out seeing something as odd as Anilda.
I'd put the blame for slowing us down on the guy(s) who go out into nature so often. Though it would so easy to not do that: Stay home, read a few books (about nature and other stuff - how do you think Vreekka knows so much about everything?) and you'll have internet access to post here all day long! :-P ;-)
"Is everyone alive and well? Then we better get going. To the homestead!"

"If it would help we could also ask around our colleagues to see if any of them might know something which could aid you in getting back to your home plane one day." Lucinus suggests.

Just to make perfectly clear: I wasn't taking a shot at anyone. I wanted to make sure people remember what the PCs learned over a year ago in 'real life' about Saringallow and it's rather superstitious inhabitants. It's also not a post to say 'Don't do this/that' but I request for how the group will accomplish 'X.' The records need to be delivered to the Mayor and Saringallow is in the opposite direction of Cannoli's Catbox.

Cannoli muses, ”Well, eventually we definitely need to head back to my new lair. But it’s in the opposite direction of town. And we do need to go share the news of our mission.”
She looks up and down the fey before adding something she just now realized, ”I’d think that the way Miss Anilda looks now it might unnerve the superstitious townsfolk. But that doesn’t mean we can’t get her some new clothes, clean her up a bit and it won’t be a problem.”
Guardian XI

I mean they seem fine with me! Maybe some metal clothes will do...
Guardian's coarse faceplates approximate a smile.
