Brunhild, feeling imminent danger, pulled a flask from her hip. In one swift motion she chugged it down, a look of disgust on her face. The already muscular woman grimaced as her muscles visible began to bulge, her skin hardening as the mutagen took effect. Scowling, as she gripped her Greatsword, she growled ”Let it come!”
Mutagen. 1 hour, +4 Str, now Str20. +2 Natural AC (17 currently, will drop down to 15 with rage...) -2 Int
Carth rapidly weaves his hands in a brief series of signs and mutters quietly to himself. For a second a careful observer can see an aura, vaguely reminiscent of a dragons scales flash across his skin but it quickly fades.

Feeling something approaching from all sides, Zegenva will turn to the rest of the group and assess their weapons. After Brunhild makes her exclamation and Carth casts his spell, she will say to the group
Anatoli, Brunhilde, Carth, and Mahonrai, circle up around Androushan and Ashlyn. Their weapons are less useful if enemies get up close to them.

With his sword lit by magical flame like light, his face a grim shadow, Anatoli circles and puts his back to them following the group on their rear right flank a grimace of determination as he looks into the silent darkness
Mahonrai follows Zegenva's instructions, but realizes he is too tall to stand in front of anyone, so tries to stay to the side while still protecting. He also keeps his bow ready.
It feels like you've been waiting 2 hours for an attack from it and it feels like 2 creatures are stalking you and they are BIG and powerful.
Brunhild senses their power is more then 2 times her current power.
Then you all hear a whisper in your ear in a kind yet seductive voice
""
Steeling herself, Brunhild told herself We have an angel on our side. There is nothing that can beat that! To whatever was out there, she declared ”Show yourself! We know you are out there.”
Ashlyn swallows her fear, pushing it aside for the moment. "Running at this point will scatter us and allow whatever this is to hunt us down one at a time. We need to stay together," she says to everyone.
While subject to this spell, you take upon yourself the mantle of the hunter, channeling the insights of the spirits of the wild.
You gain a +4 sacred bonus on all Survival checks for the duration of the spell, and you do not have to move at half your speed while traveling through the wilderness or while tracking.

Anatoli knows that what ever is out there is real now and grabs a rope and threads it to each person and then starts pulling saying come on we are together now close by rope, what ever It is we must leace.
If you are trying to get us to go a certain way or get to a certain point, would you prefer to just skip to that? I don't mind walking through these opening scenes with no real choices if you are trying to get us to a certain point, but I would also be happy to hand-wave it, since we can't really *do* anything or make actual choices.
You all definitely hear a monstrous vocal sound behind you as you run.
The forest parts a head as you enter an open meadow with a small hut within a small fenced yard and all around is filled with a light fog and a rising moon.

Thank yee, ser.
The hunter stops.
Don't make any sudden moves. We are being stalked.
Adroushan then reaches into his pack, producing some trail rations.
He then prepares to cast a spell upon seeing (hopefully) any hostile animals.

Description
This spell soothes and quiets animals, rendering them docile and harmless. Only ordinary animals (those with Intelligence scores of 1 or 2) can be affected by this spell. All the subjects must be of the same kind, and no two may be more than 30 feet apart. The maximum number of HD of animals you can affect is equal to 2d4 + caster level.
The affected creatures remain where they are and do not attack or flee. They are not helpless and defend themselves normally if attacked. Any threat breaks the spell on the threatened creatures.
”Enough of this.” Brunhild took her sword and stabbed at the ground near her feet. With the mutagen still coursing through her veins, she was itching for a fight. Running and skulking was not the way of her people.
Cool. Thanks for letting us all in, DM. :) Question for you... is our previous conversation part of our stories, so we've met each other, or do we know only what is in our spoilers in the gameplay thread?
Use the gameplay thread as no one knows everyone quite yet as it has been a short time,
The Tavern role play thread was to help everyone get a feel for their character, help build some of the background and who the other characters are.
Okay... just trying to understand what you mean by sovereignty. You don't just mean rulership... you mean something pertaining to a god, right? Or do you mean something else, like... maybe otherworldly power? (Not necessarily a god, but a power level?)
Oh and you might want to pay attention to words NPCs say as they might;
know something more and you just need to ask,
foreshadow something,
reveal they know something about you,
etc...
Especially if the alias has a NPC_NAME, more so for the cryptic Ovan.
If the angel wants to know more, he might to wanting to ask PCs at the Kirk.... for Hints....
I don't think that Mahonrai knows what the Kirk is, does he?
And, as I was saying above, I am not sure what you mean by sovereignty used in this way. To me, the word just basically means "authority," and it could be applied to a human (sovereign=king or monarch). So I think that you mean divine power, but I am not clear about whether it is an actual god or not... you said it could be a god's servant, so could it be a cleric, or another angel, or does it have to be something more powerful than that? Is it something like a power aura, and I have only felt it around gods, and perhaps really high level servants of gods?
(I am not trying to figure out who it is here, I am only trying to figure out what I am feeling. I will try to figure out who it is in gameplay, once I understand what I am looking for.)
Yeah I couldn't make the hint too easy, Maiden was the best hint word I could think of for that post without making too obvious.
But if one thinks I'll be easily understood.
I thought it was amusing to use a somewhat superstitious barbarian to poke fun at how we are all fated to do this together. But i can see how it could jar. Edited it out.
For any who are curious, here is the post before it was edited.
“Brunhild. And don’t worry about the well. The sheriff can handle it. As for who to bring along, well...this may sound superstitious, but my da always said that there is no such thing as chance. A plague hits, and we can’t cure it. We need to go into a damned dangerous part of the woods, and who walks in? An angel and a cleric. Not only that, but two weeks ago that Zegenva girl came into town. Definitely not normal. What with the tail, horns and those eyes of hers. I’d bring her, she’s stronger than she looks. And I’d bet your last copper that the gods have already decided who needs to go with us. I bet that once we let it it known what we are planning to do, anyone who needs to come will find us.”

Sorry if this seemed rude, however at the time I believed that our characters were in different locations, and thus could not interact with each other. Since the GM has now said we are all in the store, I will include you in Zegenva's statements

Also missed the conversation earlier as a native German speaker Kirche is church and like many countries there are dialects so as you go further north it must be influenced by Dutch to be sure, which I never thought of before for some unexplainable reason lol

Laurel replies
"Well, for the elderwood mold, there’s gotta be an oldest tree in the vale. Damned if I know where it is, though.
The rat’s tail and mushrooms are even longer shots. Way north, toward the mountains, people say there used to live a bunch of dwarves.
They’re not there anymore, but I’d bet their forges are. If you can find ironbloom anywhere around here, that’d be your best bet.
As for the rat’s tail, who knows? Well.
Actually. Ulizmila, the witch that lives deep in the woods might. She’s a crafty, mean thing that knows all sorts of strangeness.
She might even have one. I don’t know what she might want for it, but I doubt it’d come cheap.
My grandmother traded her sight to the old crone for a few pages of what she knew, and that was years and years back,
Ah, great. Thanks for looking it up. :) Our characters would remember these things if we were really there, but it's much harder in PbP when there are days between hearing it and needing it.
