Reno Jackson |
Hey all. Since you're all so patient with me (and I do very much appreciate that), I've made a decision.
Rather than half-ass this break and come back today, before I feel fully ready to, I'm taking the rest of the week off.
Updates will resume in full next Monday. I promise, I'll be fully 100% again by then, and my posts will continue as normal. Just need a bit of a break week to let my brain relax and re-gather some creative inspiration.
I'll be spending the free time this week reading, mostly, and collecting ideas that I can use in characterization, plot, and setting.
Thanks for your patience everyone.
Additional note: I know it's terrible for me to be doing this right at the start, I hope I don't negatively affect the campaign in any way. I look forward to coming back on Monday.

One more botched roll, and I'm going to be able to level, provided I survive that long. How are we going to handle that? Levelling whenever, at camp/in downtime like standard, when there's a dramatic moment - how do you want to handle things in this game?
Also, I just realised I could have volleyed just then. Damn. With Reno out of the picture for now, we have no healing, so this isn't looking great. We don't need me AND Nathan nearly dead.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Mini, she has literally no reason to believe that it wouldn't come for the other. Or run her through. Etc. It's not selfishness, it's sense.
The only good info she has is that the damn thing is dangerous. If I ask what's not as it seems, and I get told "It seems normal, but you're sure it's dangerous", just about confirming what we're thinking already - then that's golden. Referring to it as the "Armour of Cuddles" doesn't mean anything if there's no good reason to believe it's as nice as claimed.
She's not really going to be flight-capable anymore without that wing. For a race that pretty much lives for the air, that's a death sentence.

Honestly, it's hard enough for me to tell, let alone with you. For all I knew, you were dropping hints. I'll just leave this.
And yeah, I know why I got that. Still.

At this rate, I'm going to be making "Cuddles" as a new character. An animate suit of armour, with a fondness for tea, long walks on the beach, and a furious temper problem. He can't speak, and uses miming as a form of communication. He's gotten good enough at it that he can convey exactly what he wants to with ease.
He's your best friend...as long as you don't slight him in any way at all.

Lets be nice to the nearly dismembered angel
also, Sora, are skyfolk all airborne? I had assumed it was like Inverse worlds angels (all have wings, but only a select few can fly). if that's not the case, I'll just be human.
Sora Crescent |
As I figure, there are various types of Skyfolk, but the common thread between the different types is that they're winged and capable of flight, enough to get around. Some of them are just particularly talented with their wings, like Sora, which is why she's able to do the stuff she does. Not all of them have feathered wings, but that brand makes up the majority of the Skyfolk people know, so it's what most would think of.
Skyfolk of a different type to Sora are usually known by different names to the common people. Noctals, for example, have more bat-like wings. They're quite laid back generally, and have good navigational sense. Feel free to elaborate from there, or make up another type of Skyfolk.
But yeah, back to the main point - they all fly. It's considered a serious problem if not, be it due to injury, malformation from birth, magical involvement, etc. Enough to gain free attention from anyone of their kind with the skills to help. Money doesn't become involved unless expenses rack up, and with magic that usually means expensive material components for a major invocation. At that point, it's considered the duty of friends and family to help gather the funds needed.
Your lowest stat is Constitution (12 HP? Are you nuts?!), so perhaps you just don't have the endurance to fly long. Run with whatever explanation you like. Maybe circumstances have forced you to pay for your own invocation, or you're trying to find someone capable of helping you? Gives something else for Mini to work with later, and a character goal.
Ysolde, Saint of the Light |
I think my deformity (Small wings, barely a 6 foot wingspan, absolutely insufficient for any sort of flight) is the reason I am a Saint. Specifically, we went to the church of Alphine, and when their invocations failed, they declared that, between this, and my brilliant copper-yellow feathers, it was clear the Goddess had plans for me, and so took it upon themselves to raise me (In effect kidnapping a disabled child, and absolutely forbidding her to seek help for her disability). The low Con is the result of the anemia and general lack of endurance that also came with her "Fun sized" wings
That seem reasonable?

That sounds perfect. Also, gives Sora something else to be annoyed about.
"SISTEEEEER!" Warning: May not actually be sisters. Who knows. You decide!

We could very well be, I was stlen from my family, never met them (past infancy)
Ysolde, Saint of the Light |
I don'tlike Cuddles, Cuddles is clearly an enemy of the goddess (who choose to leave me disfigured and kidnapped me, and forced me to be anemic and... come to think of it, maybe Cuddles isn't so bad)
「Reversal」 |
Cuddles rushes to Kara's side.
*furious nodding*
*kneeling and begging*
For one without speech or expression, Cuddles strikes people as very expressive.
Seriously though, that sounds like fun. As long as Cuddles remains intact, I can use him as a backup. Any way you can wriggle things so we can keep Cuddles? I'm enjoying this too much. Promise I won't make moves without permission. Or possibly at all. Just an RP thing? I can send you the sheet for the class I used for him.
Ysolde, Saint of the Light |
Kara and Sora both know Ysolde. I can think of a few places.
Sora already mentioned the possibility of being related, so maybe she visited me in the temple (though the monks and Nuns would have forbade her to tell me she was related, as that could endanger years of brainwashing.
or maybe you guys went to the temple for your own things, and she was just a recurring face (The temple did healings and such)
And Ysolde was, as one of the saints, expected to apear at most celebration days, and be the public face of the temple
and I'm open to other suggestions, if you guys have something else in mind.
also, I threw some backstory on my sheet.

First possibility is right out. There is no way she wouldn't have said anything. While Alphine is generally respected, this Church? Filled with radicals and incompetents. Radicals to find potentials and indoctrinate them, incompetents to unwittingly bungle things so the radicals can follow through. Before, she was forced to let it go because she was too young to do anything. Now, it's because Ysolde was damn near the only thing keeping the church from pulling a stunt like that again.
Sora took to sneaking into the church to talk with her sister. She later found out that for once, those disgusting perverters of the faith had hit the mark. Ysolde did have a link, and Antares was the proof. With what she'd had to deal with due to the circumstances surrounding her wings, she wasn't taking that away. Besides, it was the Church that wasn't respectable, not the faith. They were probably close to breaking away.
So, Ysolde continued to live with the Church, and Sora continued to sneak in to keep her aloft in the world she lived in, filtering out the discrepancies and excesses of the branch. All up until one trip to the ground years later, she didn't come back. There was a letter saying that she would be away a while, but it didn't specify how long, and seemed strange altogether.
Everything sound alright? Any alterations you'd like to make? I didn't exactly notice you'd written a backstory before this. Just to be clear, it's not just 'radicals' and 'incompetents'. the 'incompetents' are true to the faith, but've just been thrust into a role unsuited to them. The 'radicals' just tend to have enough talent to have sway within the church, and a few ideas that the rest of the faith would definitely not agree with.

it seems good, sweet even. I think my bond might be Sora has seen me at my worst, I'll show her I'm better now
