DM Sully's Kingmaker (Inactive)

Game Master Max Hellspont

Greetings!

Our group’s Kingmaker PbP has been on a too-long hiatus, and we’re about to jumpstart it back to life. We’re looking for two new players to fill a couple of vacant slots in the party. Our game is here: DM Sully’s Kingmaker and our discussion thread is here: DM Sully’s Kingmaker Discussion Thread. No, I’m not DM Sully – I’m one of the original players in the game who took up the DM’s mantle when Sully had to bow out. Our remaining characters include:

Karthas: Kellid barbarian/rogue;
Euron: Varisian/Ulfen druid of the Green Faith; and
Suny: Elf barbarian/magus (replacing Tyr; same player).

We’re about one-half to two-thirds of the way through ‘Into the Stolen Lands’ – the first installment of the Kingmaker AP. The characters have fully explored 13 out of 32 hexes plus parts of three other hexes, and have completed most of the adventure’s quests. The characters recently discovered the location of the Stag Lord’s fort, and must now decide whether to continue exploring or strike at the Stag Lord now. The characters have just advanced to 3rd level.

If you’re interested in joining us, the character creation guidelines are as follows:

Level 3 characters, with the appropriate wealth for level (3,000 gp, no more than half of which can be spent on one item).

Ability scores generated using the elite array (8, 10, 12, 13, 14, and 15 – prior to racial adjustments) plus you have one extra point to add to any score of your choice.

Sources allowed: Core Rule Book, Advanced Players Guide, Ultimate Magic, Ultimate Combat. Please check for permission for anything outside of those source books.

Two traits: Preferably one from the Kingmaker Player’s Guide; no Rich Parents or any trait that gives extra gold.

Maximum hit points for Level 1, then either roll here or take one-half HD plus 1 (ex. d8 HD = 4+1 = 5) for levels 2 and 3.

Please apply with a full character (crunch, background, personality, and description). I’m accepting applications until 10:00 PM EST this Thursday, 5 April.

If you have any questions, just ask! Thanks!

Here is a character I had to pull out of a Kingmaker game some time ago due to real life right about the stage you are now, maybe a bit earlier in the exploration. I'll make the appropriate adjustments a little bit later this afternoon when I get a chance.

The Exchange

Awww... I've been looking for a KM recruitment thread. My friends and I had been kicked out of an IRL one at 6th level, due to party overinflation, I believe, and we've been looking for another game to enter on the boards with the same characters. Oh well. You're looking for two, and we are not that. Well, have fun with whoever gets chosen.

Looks interesting, Max. I'll put something up later today. Is there anything that you would be less likely to accept? Are non-Core races allowed? Are there alignment restrictions?

Edit: Your two links loop back to this same page. ;)

Good questions, Tanner!

The party currently has a druid, a barbarian/rogue, and a barbarian/magus. They could use a dedicated arcanist and another divine caster.

I'd prefer people avoid the evil alignments. Chaotic neutral is fine as long as it isn't played in a disruptive manner.

As for non-Core races, I could see something fey-related, or a kobold since the party has a peace agreement with the Sootscales. What did you have in mind?

Thanks for the interest!

Whoops! This should fix the links.

Interested.

Would you allow a Lizardfolk (from d20pfsrd) Paladin?

I was thinking of a fey. :)

How about a changeling summoner (First Worlder)?

Dark Archive

id like to play a life oracle, most likely human

@ Edrukk: Looks interesting. Looking forward to seeing the adjustments.

@ Edgar: Sorry we're just looking for two. Good luck to you and your mates in finding a new game.

@ Arknight: A Lizardfolk Paladin sounds intriguing. I'm interested in seeing what you come up with.

@ Tanner: A Changeling First World Summoner also sounds intriguing. Which Hag Trait are you thinking?

@ Jarred: A Human Life Oracle is always handy.

Thanks for your interest, everyone!

The Exchange

Yup. Have fun with your game as well.

Here is Tanner Nielsen's submission. I have everything done except for some fluff on my eidolon and my dice-rolling tab. I put her description, personality, and background in this post for convenience. The rest of her character sheet is finished in the profile.

Description:

Hair: Black
Eyes: Blue/White
Height: 4'10"
Weight: 90lb

You see a petite woman with shoulder-length raven hair. At a distance she seems beautful, if unremarkable. Closer inspection reveals her skin to be unnaturally pale, ears tapered like an elf, elongated canines, and small horns on her brow. Perhaps most striking are her eyes; one an ocean-blue with silver flecks near the iris, the other is a milky white. Despite the otherworldly appearance, her smile is mischievous and welcoming. She is dressed in tight-fitting red and yellow leathers, with a dark green trim. You didn't quite get a good look, but you could have sworn she had sharp claws hidden in her sleeves...

INSERT EIDOLON DESCRIPTION

Personality:

Like the fey creatures that raised her, Yelena is fun-loving and gregarious, if somewhat ephemeral in her relationships. She has a deep reverence for the natural world and its creatures, which sometimes leaves her overwhelmed when dealing with interpersonal dynamics. This come come off as a somewhat jarring mixture of confident enthusiasm with alien aloofness.

Background:

Yelena is a changeling. Well, at least she thinks she is a changeling. Her earliest memories are of being raised by a panoply of various fey creatures in the Narlmarches who swear that they simply found her one day in the woods, wrapped in swaddling clothes and left in a fairy ring of mushrooms. From what she can tell, it is likely that her father was an elf and her mother a green annis hag. Her father shows in her tapered ears, slanted eyes, and petite bone structure. Her mother shows in her talon-like nails, mixed eyes , and uncanny ability to be appealing in a sexual manner.

Yelena was raised by the forest fey as best as they could. She learned early on that she possessed a flair for the arcane, specifically a bond with [INSERT EIDOLON BACKGROUND]. Long years of practice and tutelage have left her a capable, if still aspiring summoner.

She is now eager to explore beyond her home and see what the rest of the Stolen Lands have to offer.

p.s. I took the Green Widow trait. :)

I'm interested in this game. I will try to submit a character by Wednesday. I've played in a live Carrion Crown game for a year now, but I'd like to try Kingmaker.

Appearance and Personality:

Appearance: Tall with bluish-green scales and gold-flecked eyes, S'skaar (pronounced S-scar-ar) appears to be a typical member of the Lizardfolk race, but should anyone approach close enough, they will see some humor and joy reflected in his eyes which is atypical for his kind.

Personality: Quiet and reserved, S'skaar has a tendency to observe rather than speak. Because of his upbringing, he's managed to be understanding about people taking him for one of his more savage kinsfolk, and tries to calm their fears when they take a breath from berating or cursing at him. When he enters combat though, his tendency is to be quick and precise, striking where he feels it will do the most good to protect his companions.

Background: S'skaar's beginnings were relatively humble. Born among a tribe of his own kind, his early years were typical for a lizardfolk. However, when he was just 5 years old a band of marauding ogres and giants tore through the encampment, killing everyone in their way. The marauders were pursued by a group of adventurers led by a cleric of Sarenrae. Feeling guilty that his actions had forced the marauders through the lizardfolk's camp, he took S'skaar back to his temple to raise.

Growing up, S'skaar endured everything from bullying and assault by the other youths of the temple, just because he was not a typical humanoid. He found himself studying more and more the martial arts rather than the divine ones. He also found himself being called by the goddess herself to serve. As he approached what would be an adult age for humans, his father, now patron of the temple sent him out to do good in the name of Sarenrae and to find his destiny.

What do people know about you:Follower of Sarenrae, good sense of humor when with friends.

What does your character want in life? To prove himself worthy of Sarenrae's faith and to lead the temple.

Playing in one Kingmaker, about to DM one myself but if that doesn't turn you off, I'd like to submit a Gnome Sorceror/Wizard. Gnome is a race with a great deal of synergy with the Kingmaker background but not often a race I see played.

Edit: Gnome Sorceror with the Fey bloodline.

Max I have a question, how often one would have to be able to post?

I was thinking of CN human bard...

@ Higginz: I look forward to seeing your submission.

@ Nostrus: I have no problem with folks having prior knowledge of Kingmaker. I trust everyone to separate player knowledge from character knowledge. A Gnome Fey bloodline Sorcerer/Wizard sounds good.

@ Donatien: Ideally I'm looking for at least one post per day on weekdays, but expecting less on the weekends (I have three young kids, and sometimes the weekends get too busy to check the boards). During combats I'd like for everyone to post their actions within 24 hours of the beginning of a combat round, just to keep things moving - if you don't post an action within 24 hours, I'll assume your character is taking the total defense action unless otherwise previously directed by you. With all that said, I understand that real life commitments take precedence (that's one of the reasons we've been on such a long hiatus - my workload this past fall and winter prevented me from devoting the time necessary to do this game justice). So if you know you'll need some extended time away, please just let us know. Oh, and a human bard would work well, as long as the CN alignment is not played in a disruptive manner.

Thanks for the interest!

The changes to Edrukk have been completed.

Str Ranger here. Submitting Duncan Redhammer.

Needs to be upped to 3rd level.
Basically a Dwarf Inquisitor with stupidly high saves.
Worships Gorum and what better place to find conflict than here.
Works as a primary melee, with great skills and some spells.

Don't mind me. Am workin' on it! (^_^)

Sorry it took so long, things got crazy but here is my life oracle for review

Jarred Henninger

Hi everyone,

I am a new PF player (but an experienced RPGer for over 20 years). Is there still room in this campaign? I play EST time zone.

Deacon awaits his fate, sword drawn and a battle song on his lips. Perhaps, finally he will get the chance to elevate heroes to gods, side by side, sword swinging and spells flying, urging, driving our heroes onward to greater and greater glory. He had awaited a long time for this. He would ensure that their names and praises would be told for a thousand years...

Ahh, quit your daydreaming songboy, I'll let me arm and me sword and me god forge a legend written in the blood o' me enemies and built upon the bodies of the bandits, wizards and demons that fall before the Lord in Iron. Praise his name and pass the ammo. We got a kingdom to build and enemies to kill...

DM Max:
So...how many are you thinking of asking? Is Suny included? For those who don't get to join, are you going to ask them to keep the character 'On hold' for when/if one of those that have joined get taken away by events beyond their control?

Off the top of my head the only character who immediately rings bells is S'skaar (Arknight): Lizardfolk Paladin (Warrior of the Holy Light).

1)It's a relatively rare type of humanoid, given the setting.
2)Both a Lawful alignment and a Paladin class do not seem to 'jell' with my mind of the race.
3) It would be an awesomely different flavor to the game.
4)That being aid I am unsure how you as a DM might deal with the racial prejudice which might abound over such a different type of humanoid within the camps/fledgling civilization's midst.
5)I have feeling as if people are going to miss out on anything...and so would hope my points are simply viewed as just personal musings and not much more. *Bows*

I also profusely apologize for not having my character unfinished and if you wish to censure my tardiness I fully understand. Over the next few days I should have the equipment bought and the little gaps in the character page filled in.

Much cheers to you and yours.

*cheesy grin and two thumbs-up*

I don't envy your position right now. Lots of really good characters here.

Suny:
Of course Suny is in, silly! You're one of the original 3 players! I've sent you a PM asking for your opinions on the applicants.

Duncan is 3rd level now and geared up.
Deacon still has second level wealth (applying for another game).

If Deacon gets in I'll gear him up more, but shouldn't change much.

Thanks again to all who applied. I've discussed the applicants with the others and we'd like to offer the two positions to:

Edrukk Igmar
and
Yelena Shukov

Edrukk and Yelena, please feel free to wander on over to the Discussion thread to check in. I plan to get a post up introducing you at Oleg's later this weekend.

To the others: I really appreciate the effort you put forth. You all had some interesting concepts. Please keep an eye out if we have any more openings in the future.

Great gaming to everyone!

Woot! Thanks for the pick.

Happy gaming to the other candidates. May your dice roll 20s!

Hi,

Yes indeed there is room. The campaign is not on fantasygrounds but instead is now play-by-post on www.obsidianportal.com. Let me know if you want to join.

I believe this was posted in the wrong discussion group. I do not believe we are looking for any more players at the momement.

Do I have that right Max?

Yeah, sorry folks! We filled up back in early April. Looks like Teak's post above is in the wrong thread.

If/when we need new players, I'll be sure to post here!
