Will work up a character. Concpet is a small (either gnome of halfling) Fighter (dragoon) using lance and shield while mounted, or spears and javelins while on foot.

Kziria would like to join. Human Fighter specializing in archery. --> note this character is currently a 25 point build, but I will drop her Str, Int and Cha 1 point each if accepted. I will put together a new background this evening. Will be similar to the current one, but with some changes.

Born to Eshrakim and Sherimah Felar, Cyrioul grew up near Totra in Osirion. When he was a young man of 15, his family apprenticed him to the wizard Selavar in Totra. The education was rigorous, to put it mildly, and he quickly learned to focus intently on each task at hand and ignore distractions.

He shared a mutual interest in the Mwangi Expanse with his master, and explored many of the vast jungles from afar, hoping to divine the locations of places of power hidden deep in the jungles. While the master kept the majority of the discoveries to himself, he did impart a good deal of knowledge of the area to Cyrioul.

At 22, Cyrioul married Sehna, a Keleshite singer and fellow scholar of the Mwangi Expanse. Two years later, Kharia was hired by a trading company to represent their interests in Eleder. She departed soon after, and Cyrioul made plans to join her as soon as possible. To complete his training, his master sent him on a final errand to work with a client in Corentyn, Cheliax. Cyrioul boards the Jenivere there, planning to join Sehna in Eleder.

Were Cyrioul to be an animal, he would likely choose the noble hawk, to better appreciate the view offered so high in the air and so sharp of vision.

Time for someone to be obvious, I think, so here's Ithuriel Saltwraith, elven rogue (pirate) (may m/c as fighter or ranger later on)

Background: Was born amongst the Ekujae elves of the Mwangi expanse, but got kidnapped at a very early age by Aspis Consortium slavers. The slavers, in turn, had their ship taken by Shackles pirates, who sold most of the slaves except the small elf - elves make poor slaves. They kept him on board as a skivvy/cabin boy, but being bright, nimble and vicious, he managed to endure the abuse and hard conditions to become an established part of the Hail of Coins' crew. He has lived in and worked out of Quent for many years now, acting as a knifeman, bounty hunter and thief when not at sea. He is a devotee of Calistria, and has a number of unresolved grudges dating back decades.

He has recently quarrelled with his captain over that individual's decision to move into slaving, and a violent disagreement after a night's drinking has made it imperative for him to leave town as quickly as possible. He is travelling to Eleder to, if possible, make a fresh start, find a way of making life miserable for the Aspis Consortium and maybe even track down his family before they fade from his memory completely.

If he was an animal, he'd probably be a stray cat - mangy, skinny, quiet, suspicious and liable to lash out if he feels at all threatened.

Stats will be in profile, which I am filling in right now (ish)

Background:

Kzrira grew up in the village ot Ilsurian on the shores of Lake Syrantula in central Varisia. At the age of five, her mother died of an unknown illness, so she was primarily raised by her father Hermath Maiwith. Hermath was a hunter and ranger and frequently spent long periods of time in the Ashwood north of Ilsurian. As her father was frequently not at home, Kzrira began to hang out with various groups of less than savory types.

Due to peer pressure and the prodding of her friends, by the age of ten, Kzrira was frequently grabbing food and goods from shops. At the age of eleven, Kzrira was caught by the local sheriff and taken into custody. Fortunately for her, before the constable pronounced her fate, her father returned from an extended hunt and convinced the constable to give Kzrira a strong reprimand and to instead have her apprenticed to a local bowyer and fletcher named Corwith Fletcher. Just as her incredible agility had made her attractive to local criminal elements, her sharp mind and dexterity made her very adept and crafting fine bows and arrows, and even better at shooting them.

By the age of 15, Kzrira's father decided that she was old enough to accompany him on hunts, so she spent several months learning to hunt in the Ashwood. When at home, she continued to apprentice with Corwith.

Suddenly, shortly after turning 17, the unthinkable occurred. She was hunting with her father and had hidden to await her father flushing some deer in her direction so that she could kill them with her bow. However, just as her father began to flush the deer, three huge wolves leapt out and took down both her father and one of the deer. Fearing for her life, Kzrira kept hidden, frozen with fear. She was forced to watch as the wolves first devoured the deer, and then transformed into half-man, half-wolf monsters and proceeded to strip her father of his belongings and rip apart his body.

Finally, the werewolves left, and the shocked Kzrira was able to leave her hiding place, but all she was able to find of her father was blood and gore and his signet ring which had apparently fallen off during the struggle. She took the ring and then carefully returned to Ilsurian.

After returning to Ilsurian, Kzrira attempted to return to her apprenticeship with Corwith, but despite loving the craft, was unable to concentrate on her work. Thus, within a month, she took leave of Ilsurian and joined a merchant caravan heading to Magnimar. In Magnimar, she found additional work on a ship traveling between Magnimar and Riddleport. She worked this route as a guard for almost two years. During this time, she found that with her agility she could fight with a rapier almost as well as her much stronger male companions could with their longswords.

Unfortunately, her tenure on the Riddleport-Magnimar route ended when a well paying client felt that she should provide some more personal services for him. As a result, the client ended up with a four inch hole in his gut. Despite favoring her over the client, the ships owner had to relieve her of her duties versus losing a very lucrative client.

Thus, shortly after finding herself jobless and shipless, Kzrira found the Jenivere docked in Magnimar after the long voyage north and looking for a few new guards. Seeing the chance to escape from Magnimar and Varisia where so much tragedy had taken place in her life, Kzrira jumped at the chance and signed on as a guard.

As noted above, I shall modify this character from a 25 point build to a 20 point build and change the Trait to Jenivere Crew - most likely Acrobatics or Knowledge(geography). I may change the other trait as well, need to decide on that.

Regarding question 3:

Kzrira would be an owl. Appearing cute and cuddly, yet able to strike with uncanny quickness and maneuver to silently catch even the most cunning prey. Most importantly it is a majestic animal which lives for the freedom of the hunt.

Kaisen would appreciate an opportunity to participate.

A Wildblooded Sorcerer of the Arcane Bloodline, Sage Deviation. (He is an intelligence based sorcerer)

DM Duke:

0. My profile is incomplete due to a combination of illness which led to negligence which allowed my profile entry work to be deleted. I am in the process of replacing the info but it might not be done by the time you are reviewing concepts. Nonetheless please continue to check the sheet for updates if the concept /character is appealing.

1. Kaisen is a child of Absalom born into slavery and traded covertly amongst power hungry wizards in Jalmeray for most of his youth. The source of this life was that he was born under auspicious signs for being a sorcerer of unique ability and was bought to be bred and used as a sort of workhorse/tool. His powers never seemed to manifest as desired and he was sold at decreasing value to owners of increasing brutality. Under his final owner a surreptitious encounter with a spellbook unlocked Kaisen's ability to "know" magic and his latent abilities were activated. Using his new abilities he escaped off Jalmeray and through a few years of running ended up in Magnimar and took on as part of the Jenivere thinking that a mobile life on such a ship would make him harder to find if ever his former masters came looking for him. (I have a first person narrative I am working on for him but like I said, I got sick and I lost a lot of stuff. I understand if this synopsis is not compelling enough but I wanted to get in -something- under the deadline.)

2. At this point his journey is purely a function of being on the ship's crew but Kaisen has a code that would compel him to aid others in need or take on a new life if circumstances presented themselves.

3. I think trading on the "slow but fierce" feeling of Kaisen a bear or elephant might fit best; an animal slow to anger but horrible to behold once pushed far enough.

Okay, I'm going to begin looking over all the applications now that I'm back. Because there is so much to peruse and digest, I'm going to be delaying the decision for at least one more day. It may be longer, in fact, as I may have a few questions about your characters. I also want to give the current players a chance to voice their opinion as well. Crossed finger and toes :D. Good luck everyone else!

Can't you cross your arms and legs as well? :)

Good luck to you, as well as everyone else :)

For all you prospective GMs out there, there's certainly enough for another game with all these PCs as well.

Yes, this is an large group of extraordinary characters. The competition is beyond tough; I don't envy DM Duke his decision.
I second the wishes for good luck to everyone. And if any DM wishes to recruit me (and I suspect many others), if I don't make the cut, please let me know.

Veshly

I have to say... That was one of the toughest decisions I've had to make so far, when it comes to choosing players. There were some amazing characters and stories in this set of applications, and I'm sorry that I couldn't accommodate more of you. I am tempted to start a third game!

When it came down to making the selection, I knew I wanted at least one good fighter type and one good arcane type. The third could be any sort of support class.

Congratulations to the following three people and good luck to the rest of you! Remember to just keep at it, if you haven't found a game yet.

Would the following please report to the OOC thread:
Rowena Lordail
Sorin Saldward
Djal

Doh, I get too attached to my characters, got too many of them looking for games now...

Thanks for considering me. Please keep me in mind should you need another slot filled.

Thanks for looking. The entry for Sorin was quite outstanding, I suspected he would be my greatest competitor for the full arcane caster spot. However, if you would be so kind, I would like your thoughts on the strengths and weakness of my entry, so I can craft better in future submissions.

Congratulations to all those selected.

Thanks for the considering. I will find a home for this dude yet!
