Hello Group B! Welcome!

Please post here with your OOC questions and answers. My first order of business for you guys is verifying build in detail and making sure everything ticks and ties.

If you haven't bought equipment or selected first day spells etc, then please do so now. I also want to know your ending cash on hand, so I can start at the same amount you did.

It may be a few days before we actually launch -- perhaps Friday, perhaps later with the holiday, so please be patient.

Glad your boarding pass for the Jenivere was accepted. Settle into your berths 'cause it's going to be one helluva ride!

The number 5 is imho opinion very difficult. I will say that shackleton has one major advantage... he is small. He might reach places we others might not. But I am sucker for dwarves! I am fine with booth! By the way, Felix has darkvision, too. Making last minute adjustments with gear, thinking working a bit on the... what would fit Felix department.


So, Jord, Harbeck, and Shackleton have all been mentioned, and each has their own special set of skills they bring to the group.

Marik made his choice: Harbek.

The others have not made a clear-cut decision, so if you had to pick just one, who would it be?

You're missing the +1 bonus to all knowledge skills from bardic knowledge.

Also you have a racial feature that gives you endurance as a bonus feat but you don't have endurance listed under your feats.

Just minor things. That's all I've found so far :)

Also is Bard your favoured class or are you saving it for something you plan to Multiclass into?

I'm thinking of changing my Greataxe for a Dwarven Waraxe and a shield and taking the shielded fighter archtype. Thoughts?

@Harbek.
First of all I think a miner uses a 2handed weigt focused weapon like a big hammer, axe or pick. That is fluff.
Second I am kind of a fan of armor training. In the middle round you trade away general ac against defensive AC. You trade away Weapon training for just damage with your shield bash. I am not convinced that this is worth it.
Third I am a MAJOR fan of the the Foehammer. Quite fitting for a miner, there are loads of hammers to use and it gives decent crowd control and you still can dual wield hammers or big hammer for a diffrent style but still get your weapon training.
Last but not least, we have a sword and board fighter already. I think a diffrent route would be better for all in the long run.


Harbek, it looks, indeed, like you are the choice for the 5th and final spot in group B. Welcome aboard.

I have taken ill this week with the flu so my posting has slowed dramatically, as I can only stay upright for a few minutes at a time. I will begin your detailed review and comment soon, and then we will get to the adventure.

Alright, Group A has left port. Now I need to turn my attention to you poor fellows left in Group b. I will start by reviewing the profile builds and asking question or comments. Please make sure you have your gear set, and if a caster, you have spells chosen for the first day.

Celine Moonveil was first on my list. Just a few questions outstanding.

1) Sling ammunition is bullets not bolts. Cheaper for you, so that's a good thing.

2) That's a lot of clothes! I guess you don't know how to pack light?

3) Your encumbrance puts you just below the amount for heavy load when you haul all that around. With the breastplate you are slowed anyway, but it looks like 4 more lbs of gear will start giving you more penalties. Beware.

Otherwise, it appears you are good to go. Welcome aboard!

- Mistyped that, but the expense was already listed correctly. I changed bolts into bullets;
- Yup. Celine is the daughter of a rich merchant, she's used to have more than one dress.
- Noted, thank you. Keeping track of encumbrance is one of the most annoying things for me, especially since I don't have HeroLab.

1)Longsword purchase price is 15 gp not 25 as you have listed. The sawback special quality I have never seen before. The rules say you must have a +1 bonus to take a special quality, but I will make an exception for this one.

2)Double check your ending gold, and just verify what it is for me again. I end up with a different number, but we'll use your calculation.

3) Not sure why, but your encumberence calculations are off. You have, by my calculation, 92.52lbs and therefore have medium load and the associated speed and ACP penalty.

Otherwise he may join Celine on board. Thanks!

1. Misstyped the GP price.

sawback property
The sawback property is a mundane modification, not a magical one, like a hollow pommel. This means you do not need a magical sword for it. Thought it is a good addition to a blade if you want to cut ropes in battle.
2. I end with 3 gold, 6 silver, 3 copper. But honestly I think he would have spend some of it on ale in the last harbor.
3. I calculated my encumberance 3 times now, manually, and end with 77 lb. Not counting worn clothes. As some items from the fighters kit are not meant to carry with you all the time, I am quite fine with it.

Felix will carry most weapons with him, having the pike stashed at the main mast. Backpack, a bedroll, an iron pot, a mess kit, rope, soap, torches (10), trail rations (5 days), and a waterskin. would be in his sea/chest, locker whatever. His thieves kit would be in his belt pouch, as flint and steel and other small things.

Smythe - Just one issue so far. The Boarded in Cheliax feat adds 200 gp to the original 150, not 300. It looks like you are over-geared. Can you scale back to 350 gp and then we will look at your gear again?

No issues otherwise that i can detect.

Switched breastplate to scale mail. I had 500 gp of gear and coins. He was originally made to max gold per class plus the 200 for 500 total. Should be good now, and easier for you to hit. :)

I sent Marik a PM to see if he was returning. If so, I will check his build tomorrow and then we will be all set. If not, are you ready to go with 4 or do you want to go find a 5th?

That is my opinion as well. We need an arcane dedicated caster (preferably Marik).

Great. I will check him over and then we should be ready to start. Perhaps as early as tonight.


Reviewed Marik and have a few questions:

1) can you detail what is in your spellbook besides the memorized spells for this day, if any?

2) Check your gear. Should've started with 150gp, and I have you over-geared.

I think the rest of the build works out, but need to see those items corrected to start play.


Marik: I think my issues was the scrolls, which, I am guessing you must have scribed? If so, I think I can get to the same gear and money as you.

Still would like to see the spellbook contents set up. Thanks!

The scrolls were from an earlier incarnation of Marik when he had them in his spellbook. I've changed the remaining gold to take into account the extra costs. He should have 9 gp, 4sp, and 7 cp remaining.

Spellbook: Color spray, Comprehend languages, Enlarge person, Grease, Mage armor, Vanish
