The woman emphatically shakes her head. "No, my Lady. These were all pomp and fluff. Dressed up men looking like they wore more make-up than a 2 bit whore, if ya beg my pardon. I don't think I saw a single weapon between the both of them. They come a few weeks ago, says they heard about her artsy skills."

Once they have the best description of those two dandies that the woman is able to give, Zart will head upstairs to Trinia's room with Tolenn.

Thank you, by the way," he says on the way up, "For arranging a safe place for Donna to stay out of Korvosa. It is sad indeed that the current turmoil and my own predicament means the city is no longer a safe place to raise a child. I am so relieved to know she is looked after.

"By the way, I also noticed your teeth clench earlier when I mentioned that it was we who saved Trinia from the mob. I'm not usually sensitive to such things, so I'm pretty sure it's nothing. Just in case it isn't, though, the man already knew we were going to try to save Trinia from the mob - it's what we told him when we first met him. Come to think of it, I believe 'we' could be replaced with 'I'. Sorry if I've overstepped.

"Now," adds Zart more softly, "I think we need to search Trinia's room for anything that might help us exonerate that poor girl. Are you with me?"

Waiting patiently for Tolenn at the top of the stairs, Zart produces a wreath that he had bought earlier. It is a mixture of pine needles and flowering holly sprigs, tied at the top with a golden silk bow. He hangs it from Trinia's door as a sign of respect, and waits for Tolenn to ascend so that he may talk with her (as above).

The funny thing is that, when I quoted your post, the dice link was broken so I typed it back in. It rolled the dice and got a natural 20, which should have been my Diplomacy roll. It doesn't matter, the haggling was just a formality. Here goes...

Gaius chuckles, nodding. True, true. My friends would make fun of me if I didn't at least try to haggle you down. The price is fair--we'll take it, 40 it is. When the man is retrieving the second vial, Gaius turns to Daud, but speaks loudly enough for the poison vendor to hear.

You see! I told you we could get what we needed here. That cute blonde was telling the truth! Trina, Trinia, what was her name...

Ha! I just saw that!

The man assumed a look of mild curiosity, yet he hesitates. "Sir? I get lots of recommendations, mind you, but that one has not stepped foot inside this establishment. Someone was clearly jesting with you about their name, me thinks good sirs. A good joke, but one best left to die, if you know what I mean."

The man is being truthful about Trinia not having visited him. He is nervous, though, likely at what implications him being pointed at as the poison provider for the King's assassination would go.

Raamanti wipes the soot from his shadowy form. He chuckles to himself as he sees the blackness drip off him and onto the floor, forming something akin to an actual shadow. WELL, THERE'S A FIRST!

WHILE YOU ARE WAITING FOR TOLENN TO CATCH UP, MY MASTER, I SHALL HAVE A BIT OF A LOOK AROUND IN HERE, he tells Zart using their newly-found mind link, JUST LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU ARE READY TO COME IN.

The hulking shadow peers around Trinia's apartment for anything that might help prove the girl's innocence, or point to those who framed her.

Raamanti perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28

This is just the "quick" result for now. When Zart and Tolenn get there, the intention is to use air another and to take 20.


Daud & Gaius:
Poison is secured, yes.

"The nature of the poison has not been released that I know of, good sir. Something that would fool the castle mediciners for a while, I'm assuming, since the word came out just recently about poisoning." The man regards the duo warily now, his left hand clenching and unclenching.

Pyron:
"If you say so. I'll send word to Sabina, but don't get hopeful." At that, the other guard walks back to the gate, and a young boy goes running up the steps to the Castle Proper.

Zart and Tolenn:
Raamanti's search of Trinia's room is fruitless. There is certainly nothing of value here, and nothing to implicate her in any assassination attempt. Unfortunately, there is nothing to exonerate her, either.

Right well, this will serve for our purposes. Good day.

After taking their purchase and leaving the shop, Gaius will speak to Wednesday quietly.

This man had an easy, willing mark looking for the best poison he had, and only charged us twenty gold. You want to kill a king, and you only have one shot, you're going to spend a lot more on a sure thing. Trinia didn't have the means to acquire anything like that, certainly not around here. Even if she was involved, someone wealthy helped her. And if she was an assassin of that caliber, why would she return home and wait to be lynched? And the guard's story--that Trinia used magic to make him deliver the poison. Such magic is far beyond her skill, or she would have used it to better aid her escape when we were chasing her. None of this adds up. Let's see if the others were able to discover what poison was used in the murder. That might give us another direction to investigate.

My team and I just brought in the suspect to Field Marshall for the queen. We believe there could be another suspect and the queen's life could be in danger. My team is already investigating. Please just take me to Sabina; valuable time has been used up already just waiting for Sabina to not take me seriously at my word, which is why I now had to tell you sensitive information.

Pyron leaves to go to a local shop to purchase a piece of paper, inkpen, and ink. He writes on it according to his knowledge of how sergeants normally write regarding a request for me to receive information that my team needs to find another suspect as according to information that has developed during the apprehension of the first suspect. Pyron leaves the signature section blank. Then he takes this to the Field Marshall for her signature.

Discussion if necessary: Field Marshall Croft, I have good news. I will be allowed to receive the necessary information if you are willing to authorize this request. Here is documentation that I created for your convenience. If we find the true suspect or even another suspect, then you will be applauded for your supervisory role, and if we get nothing, then it can be seen that we ensured the safety of the queen by checking all important leads.

Croft levels her gaze at Pyron, shaking her head. "Sabina knows full well why you would be there. There's one of two things going on. One, is that Sabina has no interest in hearing what you have to say. Two, is that the Queen has no interest in hearing what you have to say. Either of those things overrules any piece of paper with my signature. You've come to a dead end, I'm afraid." The field marshall looks sympathetic, but her expression is clear...she will not rock the boat with her superiors at this time.

Having lost touch with Tolenn back at the apartments, Zart waits patiently at Zellara's house for the others to arrive. His face is grim when the door opens at last.

"No leads I'm afraid," he says from his seat, wasting no time once the first of his new companions comes through the door, "Trinia was indeed at the castle, which does not bode well for finding a decent alibi. No one was hanging around looking suspicious except us, and her room was devoid of anything that we could use to free her or find the real killer. Were it not for my personal convictions and the fact that the queen has no strong evidence to prove her guilt, I could begin to believe that Trinia really did have a hand in our late king's death.
