This campaign is my attempt to play a canonical Planescape campaign using the updated Pathfinder ruleset. The game actually predates the release of Pathfinder, but we have managed to update as we have needed.

Oops, sorry about that Mark, this is one of the problems about deviding up the treasure this way. The best thing to do IMO is to figgure out the GP value of everything in the pile (basically whatever you could sell it for) then divide by the number of players to figure out the cut, and then allow players to buy back items with their share of the cut. The only problem with dividing the treasure this way is that sometimes the item the player wants costs more money then they have. Basically they'd then end up owing the team (which could lead to negative treasure).

Sounds good to me. Not too much of a fan of "let's all go shopping in between each encounter" either.

Can an appraise check be made untrained?

"What was that about Swift is she okay?"

"Oh ya," Karrin says waving the letter around as if that would aide Merle understand what was written on it, "she totally okay and she married some Nye guy. Strange, I didn't even know she was seeing somebody, but she was a sneaky one! I bet she was the one that took my cat too now that I think about it, haven't seen Blacky around since Swift left. Oh well, she was always offering to look after her for me, I can't blame her for catnapping."

male Catfolk

Seph goes very still "Oh uh well I'm very happy for her" He says quietly before heading to Merle's room to cry for a little bit.

Merle on the other hand looks at Karrin with a Cant believe she hasn't figured it out yet Look on her face. "Uhh you do realise Swift was a Tibbit right?" she asks

female elan Psion (Kineticist) 9

Nari quietly slips out of the room after Seph, knocking lightly on the door before opening it slightly.
"Seph?" She sighed when she saw him crying. Poor guy. As if being stuck as a cat wasn't bad enough.
"You really liked her, huh? I'm sorry. I could probably go on about life not being fair and how you're gonna be okay, but I doubt you feel much like listening right now."
She sat beside him and patted his back, much the same way he had done for her after they had come back from the citadel.

Male Human (Athasian) Cleric 9

Curious, and in a bit more of a talkative mood, Ekuur finishes chewing some of his breakfast, and asks Karrin, "Who is this Swift person?"

Male Half-elf (Planar) Ranger 5/Rogue 2/Plane Walker 1

"Ah, yeah. I met Swift couple o' Peaks past when I joined up. Can't say we hit it off or not. Well, that's loverly that she's... wait. Hitched?! She looked about 15, if that! Now, I ain't no old Hardhead or nothin' but I can't say I tumble to that. Not that it's my stake, cutter..."
Isaac crosses his arms and stares thoughtfully into his beer for a few minutes.

"We still gotta get at those Darks in Eliath's brainbox, in the mean time. Keep our client singin' our praises like Black Marian at the ol' Fountain, ya ken it?. Then scrag this Shadowknave 'fore he starts gettin' ideas."

Renkar looks up from his early dinner of chicken and peas.

"If the Dead are on his tail, I doubt Ser Shadowknave will be with us much longer."

He looks up at the team

"I will send a courier for Ser Ironfist and mayhap we can bring Eliath here this Antipeak? Nari, you talked with him earlier, yes?"

Male Human Rogue 6

"I should be able to get ahold of the barmy who got his way in the Fated if you want." Swire takes the small knife out of the chest and holds it up with an appreciative eye. "It would just take a little persuading."

Just checking, do you mean the knife is small as in "not that big", or small as in "made for Small races"?

EDIT: UPDATE: I am going to need some help from my crunchtastic players. I had dropped that throwing dagger in long ago, assuming there was some info on ranges a dagger meant for throwing could achieve. I can't find any entry for 'Dagger, Throwing' in the PRD. Anyone know where this info is? I assume the range would be around 20 ft.

Cheliax

Are you sure you don't mean a regular dagger? (which can be thrown) that has a range of 10ft Other possibility is the dart has a range of 20ft otherwise is the same damage as a dagger

It's funny, I may be hallucinating, but I thought throwing daggers were different from regular daggers. Like, made for throwing?

Not in 3.5/Pathfinder. I don't know about 3.0 as I never played it.

There were differences in 2e between Normal and Throwing Daggers. This is a 2e Adventure you're converting isn't it? Was the Dagger listed in there as a Throwing Dagger?
I'd say that if you wanted to differentiate between them, simply make the Range Increment 20ft like you suggested. :)

Yeah, I think my grognardiness is showing. Consider that a normal dagger, except with a 20 ft range. So mote it be

Human Wiz 8

heh. <echoing> So Mote It Be,... ;)

Justin looks at Merle with a look bordering on pity. While smiling sympathetically at Merle, he nods his head towards Karrin and raises an eyebrow in a Do you want to tell her, or shall I? look. He shovels in another mouthful of bacon, and rolls his eyes in blissful enjoyment of his greasy treat.

While he obviously has no problems with shyness, he's still not sure of everyone's relationships and personalities, and doesn't want to offend his new co-workers. At least not until he knows them well enough to not worry about it.

Lady Bethany wrote:

Noting Bethany's comment, and her glance at Merle, Justin gives a wry half grin. 'Aw well, the 'Cat's out of the bag' anyway,...'

"That's perfectly understandable Beth, given the natures of Harpies and Tibbits." he says, hastily swallowing his mouthful of bacon. He either ignores or doesn't notice if Lady Bethany has any reaction to his not using her proper name. He glances at Merle, shrugs, then continues.

"I don't know what they're called where you come from, but Tibbits are a shifter race. They're humanoid, but have an alternate form that has nothing to do with lycanthropic curses, or polymorphic weaves. They turn into cats." He says the last looking directly at Karrin, his face and voice carefully neutral. He spears a sausage and bites into it.

I'm still not sure if he actually went round the bend after a sharp shock of some sort, or if he stumbled across some of the darks of the Illuminated and decided to use them to achieve his own goals. If the latter, he's in considerably over his head."

female Tiefling 9th level Duskblade

"Um, ya," Karrin says, a strange edge to her voice, "I'd think that if that Swift wanted to keep that a secret her friends would have respected that. Supposing that I didn't know that I'm not sure how telling me that makes either of our lives better. I probably seemed happy with my cat, and supposing what you're insinuating is true, then Swift seemed happy with her secret pretending to be my cat. So it seems to me that revealing that secret sort of steals something from the both of us doesn't it? I loose a cat and Swift looses a master."

Karrin seems a touch sad for a moment.

"But you you know," Karrin says glancing at her friends, "just because Swift is a tibbit and Blacky was a cat, it doesn't mean that the two were one and the same does it? There's no way I could know for sure. I'm pretty dense. My little kitty could come wondering back one day. I doubt that I'll see Blacky again but who knows."

Justin stops chewing, and looks from Karrin, to Merle, to Isaac.

'Aw,... Shards! I gotta learn to think BEFORE I speak!'

Slowly chewing his food to give him time, Justin thinks. He nods as he swallows.

"Your right Karrin, and I apologize if I offended you. But I've only known you for a short time, ('Has it really been only a day? A day and a half?!?' He thinks.) And I wasn't aware of your relationship with Blacky, or Swift. Besides, your absolutely correct. Just because Tibbits turn into cats, doesn't mean that Swift is Blacky." He seems genuinely contrite, and introspective, as if remembering something.

He looks at her curiously, then points his fork at her with a half grin. "And I don't think that your dense." He opens his mouth as if to say more, then apparently decides (probably correctly) that he's said enough, and (Probably wisely) shoves another forkful of eggs into his mouth instead.

Justin nods, grateful for the change in topic.

"Hopefully he's been playing along this whole time. But even if he started out that way, it's still possible that he was brainwashed. With luck his scholarly/researcher nature will aid us either way. We still have several questions for him, and our original client to wrap up a case for."

Justin returns to finishing up his plate, but with a little less enthusiasm than before. he obviously has something on his mind.

"Renkar, would you like me to send a message to Eliath? I can invite him to meet me here for lunch? tea? Well, whichever. I think if it's worded as a personal invitation he's somewhat likely to actually show up. I was under the impression that he wasn't particularly accustomed to females paying any attention to him whatsoever." While she never did manage to look up from the floorboards while she spoke, she did manage to say all of that at an audible volume.

Justin returns to finishing up his plate, but with a little less enthusiasm than before. he obviously has something on his mind.

Quiet as he usually is, Ekuur starts a bit at this comment of Justin's. "I know of a spell that can help force someone to tell the truth if they are questioned. Perhaps that would come in handy here?"

Female Avian Harpy Avian Harpy 4 Bard (Arcane Duelist) 2

Bethany gives Justin a withering glare at his slight and opens her mouth to give him an earful, but the conversation continues around her and so she refains. She continues to sit there staring daggers at him though as she breakfasts on sausages and bacon.

Male Half-elf (Planar) Ranger 5/Rogue 2/Plane Walker 1

Isaac lets the tibbit discussion go without comment, letting Justin sit in the hole he's dug himself and try to dig his way out. Being conciliatory to those Dustmen left a bad taste in his mouth that even his drink won't wash away.

"I tumble to that plan, Nari. No point bobbing the poor sod or rattlin' our boneboxes if ye can just get him here on his own. 'Course, it's up to the boss. Reckon we should invite Ironfist to that spot o' wig-wag or hold up so our lad don't go gettin' too embarrassed when he gets the dark o' what we're about?"

female Tiefling 9th level Duskblade

"Well you know," Karrin says, "Mr bone priest never asked who else knows about these illuminated, he got kind of upset and left. So he doesn't know that others know just about everything, so he might not feel a sense of urgency. Also I kind of got the feeling that he thinks us beneath him so he might not even be watching us too closely. Might be a window here you know, could make our move before anyone else does, and then when the other factions make their moves maybe they'll bump into each other and turn their hate at each other instead of us or something."

Male Half-elf (Planar) Ranger 5/Rogue 2/Plane Walker 1

"Why would the other factions get heated with us? Only the Dustmen know right now and only 'cause we told 'em to keep 'em off our arses. Past that, the rest are none the wiser. We could try and get the rest o' the spies names and pick up some favors, cutter, but I sure hope this ain't enough to start another Faction War. Whole sodding city'll hit the blinds. Fact is, keepin' The Illuminated out o' Sigil may well keep a lot o' berks outta the Lady's shadow."

Isaac stands.

"Speakin' o' that business, I don't tumble to lettin' the Dead get all the darks. Justin, old son, mind if I copy that list o' yers? My factotum's gonna want these darks, see if the Godsmen got an infiltrator."

female Tiefling 9th level Duskblade

"Except the prize is the Shadowknave isn't it?" Karrin says looking back at her food, "Those names in the book are small potatoes right? I mean they got the book and might sell those names and all. And I think mr pissy priest can question Brindol again in a few days but . . . I mean it seems like a window to me. The Shadowjerk runs things, and right now we're the only ones that know he's the one that knows All the other contacts.

"I mean I know I'm not too smart and all," Karrin ads giving her forehead a punch, "but when word of that gets out there could be lots of people interested in talking to the fellow. Right now, as I see it, only two factions know about shadowface, and at the very least, you'd think someone would want access to all that information . . ."

Karrin returns to her food but there's that strange Machiavellian twinkle in her eye again.

"Oh mell," she mumbles while chewing her food, giving the entire affair a shrug, "Meuss M Midn't ink ings mu."

Male Half-elf (Planar) Ranger 5/Rogue 2/Plane Walker 1

"Pike it, Karrin. Yer plenty smart. A basher rattles their bonebox about playin' the factions off each other and I get peery is all. Good way ter get Mazed, is all I'm sayin'. It's a good idea scraggin' the Shadowknave, we just don't have the dark o' whether he's still at the Butcher's Block or if he's Out of Town. Or maybe even Out of Touch. I'm blinkered the Chaosmen didn't already know where the berk is, given he's right under their barmy sodding noses."

"Well, why not? Isaac's right, how is it that the Chaosmen didn't know where to find him? I can understand not being organized enough to DO anything about him, but not knowing about him? One one hand it doesn't sound much like he's keeping a low profile. On the other, he's going by 'Shadowknave'. It pretty much sounds like he's daring someone to try and find him! So why not us?!" Just to make sure: We haven't had our downtime yet right? This is all straight after our Adventure in the Fire Citadel. Just asking because Bethany wants to get a Jacket custom made to go with her slip... flying in the slightly acidic rain in a slip, even an armoured one, is not good for ones health.

Nope, we haven't had the downtime yet. I figured you would snag Eliath and wrap this adventure up. Just a word to the wise: Shadowknave is now a seriously wanted man. The Dead are looking for him, and they are a big faction, with lots of eyes. You might not be able to find him ...

Yeah, I kind of figure we won't see him there but it's worth being thorough, at least in character. And it's not terribly far from where Eliath's taken up.
