Legacy of Fire adventure path

Grand Lodge

Hi Everyone,

I'm planning on running a Legacy of Fire campaign if there's enough interest for it, looking for 4-6 players. Posting time is once every day, any longer then that and the game risks grinding to a halt, that being said, sometimes life gets in the way and i'm OK if you let me know you wont be able to post for a few days, I can NPC your character for the short term.

I'm allowing CRB, APG, UC and UM rules. Monster races are allowed, excepting Drow Nobles of course. 15 point buy, Hero Points, 2 traits. If you have the Player Guide feel free to use it and let me know which campaign trait you'd like, but it's not compulsory.
I'll handle XP behind the scenes and let you know when to lvl up.

I'll need a back story, character personality, description and characters reason for joining the caravan, you don't need to worry about a stat block until you've been chosen if you don't feel like it.

As the campaign begins, you are mercenaries heading out into the northern scrublands of Katapesh on camels to rendezvous with your new boss, Garavel, the major domo of a merchant princess named Almah. You are hired as additional mercs for his caravan, with the goal of reclaiming the village of Kelmarane.

Color me interested. This is the character I'd like to run.

A dwarf ranger (guide) who I hope will becoming a true threshing machine with his dwarven waraxe.

BTW, will you allow traits from a players companion?

Previous submission for another game. If accepted I will adjust the stats.

Please consider my application:

Cahal ud'Din, human barbarian, planning on taking levels of alchemist and Pathfinder delver.

I present for your consideration, Dhakir Zafar, human fighter. Originally submitted for another Legacy of Fire pbp, his mechanics will need to be adjusted to meet your requisites, but the personality/background seems to be what your more interested in at this point anyways.

Liberty's Edge

Would love to play...I will have a character profile and such up later today (at work now..lol)

I'd love to give Legacy of Fire another shot. Started with this character in another LoF PbP long ago using the Beta rules and it ground to a halt right around the time the Core Rulebook was released. Full stat block is in profile (20pt buy, can mod for 15 if I'm accepted), but here's description and background:

description:
Kara is a slender, graceful halfling in early adulthood. She has smallish, clean shaven feet, and could easily pass as a gnome. Her dark eye makeup draws even more attention to her large blue eyes, and she flashes her long eyelashes just right to lock your gaze.

A revealing yet simple brightly colored gown serves as both costume and casual wear, yet is clean and free of any signs of wear. Simple copper bracelets adorn her wrists, and several beaded necklaces draw your eyes down the plunging neckline of her dress, somehow making her look glamorous, refined, and desirable.

background:
I have no memory of my parents. I’m sure I have some, somewhere, but families don’t last long among slaves. Sold from master to master, I landed finally in the care of a kindly human who treated me as a person and not a thing. For a time I became infatuated with him, intoxicated by his goodness, but he had a dark secret, and one morning was found murdered in his study. After that I learned quickly not to get too close to anyone, as the pain from the inevitable separation became unbearable.

My earliest memories are of the reckoning, as we slaves called it – the day our life is chosen for us. Some of my fellows were sent to be cooks or household servants, while some of the stronger men were picked for labor or to be sailors on a slave galley. Halflings were especially popular picks for sailors because their sleeping quarters could be half the size of humans’, leaving more room for merchandise. I often wonder how my life might have been had I been sent to sail the seas, but that was not to be. Someone early in my life said I was pretty, so I became an entertainer.

They taught me to dance and sing, but my teachers were cruel and demanding. They bound my feet to hide my Halfling heritage – it seems gnomes are more exotic and often fetch a higher price in certain markets. As soon as I discovered the usefulness of my new skills in pleasing men and avoiding their wrath, I doubled my efforts and mastered the art of seduction. I was passed around to dance in nearly every seedy tavern in the dark corners of Katapesh, occasionally catching the eye of some wealthy merchant who took me in as his personal entertainer until he tired of me and I was sold yet again.

In those dark days I came to know the true nature of man – the seeds of greed, selfishness, lust, anger, deceit, and corruption lie in the hearts of everyone, no matter how pretty, kind, or honest they appear. Politicians, peasants, and clerics all frequented the pubs to watch me dance, and their leering and lustful eyes sickened me. Ever will I play this twisted game; ever will I hide my hate for them.

When my last master fell on hard times, I was sold yet again, but this time to the city government, where I was put in a holding cell to await a trip to the slave market and another new master. Then one morning I was woken early and sent to a courtyard with many other slaves. An official looking human called for silence and announced that we were being sent to fight with a band of mercenaries and guards in an assault to retake the village of Kelmarane. If we were successful, he promised, we would be free.

Of course nobody ever frees slaves, so I fully expect this to be a suicide mission, but even death would be better than this hell I’ve been living, so I wrapped a small dagger and darts to my thigh, gathered my few belongings, and set off for my doom.

Intention is to start as a bard, then switch to Fighter either at level 2 or whenever she's freed from slavery, whichever works better in the context of the story.

Silver Crusade

I need to roll something up, but would a centaur or Lamia caster (prehaps a caster, not 100% sure) be okay for my monster race?

I have been trying to get in on the ground floor of this AP since it came out!

This is the character I would be running. I'm looking at Rogue as the class. I will get the everything up later today. Also at work.

Grand Lodge

After reading through your wonderful backstories I'm starting to get a feel for how I can take this campaign, There is a delightful theme of slaves fighting for freedom, I think I'm going to run with Garavel sending agents out to pick a handful of slaves, with the authority of the Pactmasters to offer them their freedom in exchange for their services.

So far I'm especially liking Cahul ud'Din, Mirah, Dhakir Zafar, but there are still a few spots open.

A rogue would be great, so I'm looking forwards to your submission Mahmoud bin Ali, and can I get a background Ghorum Kraak?

Mystic_Snowfang, I'd consider a Lamia, but as they are generally a chaotic evil race under a curse who delight in destroying holy places you'd have to give me a really compelling reason why she would forgo her natural tendencies in favour of working with a group of generally good people.

Liberty's Edge

Here is the crunch for my character, I will try to get the fluff up ASAP.Thanks

Actually instead of bard -> fighter I'd probably go with the Dancing Dervish bard archetype from UC, which wasn't available when I first made this character. Plus, she'd be a better skill-monkey if you don't get a rogue.

Liberty's Edge

OK..as promised, here is the background for Bahram.

Background:

History:
The sun scorched me. Baked me. Made me what I am today. My life before Sarenrae is ash, burned away in the desert that I had been banished to. I was to die. But the goddess had plans for me.
The blessed sun took from me the pain of my earlier years. I know that I had done something bad, and my clan had banished me. But who they were, and what I had done, well, it is all gone now. An empty vessel the goddess needed, and so I was when she found me. I was barely alive. I have no idea how long I had been staked out on the dunes, but it was long enough that the slightest wind across my burned skin was a torture. My eyes had long since succumbed to the bright desert sun, and all I remember is the darkness calling me. Then I could see again! Just like that! I was nowhere but somewhere that felt safe, and familiar. Nothing around me but a pearly light, and then she appeared. I do not have the words to describe her beauty and power. She spoke to me, and it was like music…like the roar of a blazing fire..like the soft wind blowing though the palm fronds. I cannot remember what she said, but I knew that I was not going to die. And I also knew I now had a purpose. When I came around, it was night, and my bonds had been burned away. My skin was still burned, but not nearly as bad as it had been, and my sight, while still a bit blurry, had come back to me. I was able to make it to an wadi that still contained a small amount of water under the dry sand. I drank my fill and stumbled out of the desert and into her service.
That was 3 years ago, and I now wander the wastes and cities as she commands, do her bidding and helping all those in need. I am with this caravan because my goddess wills it. I know not where it will lead, but I do know it will be for the greater glory of Sarenrae.

Description and Personality:
Bahram stands slightly over 6 feet tall. Well muscles, his skin is a very deep brown. His hands are large and scarred, and he keeps a clean shaven head under his keffiyeh. He wears flowing orange and yellow robes over his chainshirt, and it is belted with an ox-hide sash carrying his scimitar and janbiya.
He is a man of many moods. His happiness is infectious, his anger, wrathful, and his loyalty, once earned, unwavering. His dedication to Sarenrae is beyond reproach. He seeks to bring her brightness to all, and banish the dark.

History:
Mahmoud bin Ali was raised amongst the dust and stone of the dig sites his Garundi parents so loved. He has never known the clan life that his people are known for. Instead his parents made sure that he had a chance to experience the history they so loved. His first toys were a chisel and brush. . .his first book, The History of Tar-Urkatha.

As he grew older, he knew he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his parents. He dove into the history books his parents carried with them on their travels. As his passion grew so did his desire to make the history instead of just reading about it. He saw that chance come when his parents introduced him to tales of the Pathfinder Society.

His path clear before him, Mahmoud spent his every waking moment training for his future. His days were split between reading and practicing the skills he thought he might need.

When the day came for him to travel to Absalom to apply for membership to the Society, he went with his parents blessings and best wishes.

The months since his induction to the Society have been a blur. Arriving in Katapesh for his first assignment, Mahmoud can barely control his excitement long enough to make it to his meeting with Garavel. As he bounces along on the camels back, he can not help but stare at his new wayfinder, lost in the thoughts of the tales that one day will be told of him.

I was thinking of the Historian and Seeking Adventure traits from the Player's Guide. Working on the personality and description part. Will post asap. Let me know what you think.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 32

I'd like to submit a concept for a character (based around the "Finding Haleen" Trait):

Character Role:
Wizard Conjurer (possibly Genie Binder prestige class at higher levels) Battlefield controller/Support caster with a focus on summoning.
Ouside of combat lore skill monkey, utility caster (teleportations, divinations and so on) and even half-decent party face if needed!)

Character Background:
Aisha never knew her parents, they died when she was too young. Since she can remember, it was her older sister Haleen who took care of her, and she is the only family she ever knew. Living in Katapesh wasn't easy for two young girls with no family, but thanks to Haleen they were able to get by. Over the years money was always tight, but they managed nontheless.
When, still a young girl, Aisha demonstrated an intuitive undestanding of the theory of magic, Haleen encouraged her to focus on her talent and develop her fledgling skills. while other wizards and sorcerers refined their art at the College of Dimensional Studies, she was forced to use scraped-by notes from a third-hand washed-out spellbook, but the young girl was intelligent and stubborn, and she managed to learn the rudiments of magic all on her own.
Right when the now-of-age Aisha was planning on using her newly acquired skills to leave the city and earn herself and her sister a lucrative job on a traveling caravan, Haleen vanished without a word, except for a strange note asking Aisha to forget her, get on with her life, and especially not to follow her. Haleen sudden disappearence, the strange note... Knowing her sister would never leave just like that, Aisha convinced herself something happened to her sister, that maybe she was forced to leave, or even kidnapped. After years of depending on her sister, now it was time for her to protect Haleen. After more than a month of hectic search for clues, finally a reliable lead: a woman matching Haleen's description was seen in the vicinity of an old ghost town named Kalmarane.
Looking for a way to get there as fast as she could, Aisha stumbled upon Garavel's advertisement for mercenaries to accompany him
to that very region. She didn't waste time and applied for the job immediately.

Hope you like her, I'd love to finally get to play in a Legacy of Fire game (never had the chance)!

Background[/spoiler:

Having spent seven years in the mines as a slave to the gnolls early in his life, Ghorum developed an intense hatred for the creatures that ruined his life. His hatred grew as he toiled away, fed by mourning his friends and family killed in the raid, and by the daily beatings he incurred with his belligerence toward his captors.

Once he escaped, he spent the next thirty years developing his skills as a guide for caravans, and as a hunter of the creatures that helped shape his destiny.

Ghorum is a quiet, brooding man, even for a dwarf. Although he comes across as bitter about his experiences, Ghorum is actually quite loyal to those who have proven themselves, and he admires tenacity in battle greatly.

I see some familiar faces from the last time a Legacy of Fire PbP was recruiting.

Anywhoo like the others here's my previous submission for a Blade-Bound Magus to fill the role of dervish melee support and arcane casting gish-ness. I'll probably devote some skill points into disable device to pick up rouge slack as it fits in character.

Like others it was on a 20-point buy, but I'll adjust the stats if accepted. Here's an off the shelf estimate (includes bonus/penalties for middle aged) though they're somewhat flexible if your particular about characters dumping stats. Though I do, operate in good faith and roleplay deficiencies/strengths.

STR: 9 DEX: 18 CON: 12 INT: 18 WIS: 8 CHA: 6

If another character wants the Finding Haleen trait I'm comfortable combining back-story knowing the other PC. Likewise if any characters happen to be professional mercenaries or have a penchant for gambling I'm not against him having any prior associations with such characters

I can see Dhakir and Sarkik possibly knowing each other at early childhood and/or Sarkik betting heavily on Dhakir in his time as a gladiator. Being a peddler of illicit substances he might have unknowingly sold the drug that led Dhakir to his unfortunate fate, an act he would have felt rather guilty about and thus engineered a series or rigged gambling ventures in order to try and bring his unintended miss-deed back into balance while of course scoring a modest profit.

The character is pretty much fully fleshed out, the only hiccups would be equipment if you're not playing with max gold at first level and the stat/block is easily fixable. My time zone is CST (GMT-6) and I can usually post mornings/nights and more on weekends and shouldn't have any trouble posting more than once per day.

Good luck with submissions.

Grand Lodge

Alrighty, this is the part I hate, because there are always great people to choose from and I hate disapointing anyone. I've reviewed the submissions and have picked the following.

Bahram, Cleric of Sarenrea
Cahul ud'Din, Barbarian
Mirah, Sorceror
Dhakir Zafar, Fighter
Aisha, Wizard (Conjurer)
Mahmoud bin Ali, Rogue

Everyone else, thank you and I'm sure you'll find homes for your characters soon.

If you all want to head over to the discussion page and post up your character stats. When i've had a post from everyone, I'll start the campaign.

Oh, well...maybe next time. Good luck with the game. Keep me in mind if someone can't continue (I can always switch to a class that will help balance the group).
