By the way, have we lost Hector's player?
Guess it's safe to assume that we've lost our rogue, since Hector's player hasn't posted (here or anywhere else on the Paizo boards) since mid-November.
jlord |
Excluding hector we do have 6 players.
1 wilder
2 psion warriors
1 psion warrior/monk
1 cleric
1 Psion
If Gob is truly mia, then we have lost the psion. Do we want any other possible players? We are not very class diverse, with three p warriors, but we do have 5/6 players, which is a larger than average group. I know dabbler really wanted a psion in the group...
thoughts?

I keep thinking of Cindy/Princess from Zoom and Hitgirl from Kickass for some reason... :P Warning... Hit girl link is very violent!

Albrecht's AoO misses by a hair's breadth, but his flurry of blows makes up for it. As the goblin dodges his fist he slams it with a kick and it goes down, one leg shattered and blood spurting from the femoral artery. Spinning he lands a round-house kick on the second goblin with enough force to fracture it's skull and break it's neck and it's dead before it hits the ground.
It's worth noting that Albrecht was using his temple sword here, and from this point on is probably going to be using his sword the majority of the time. Just FYI.

I finally broke down and ordered "Psionics Unleashed" from the U.S.; I wasn't having any luck finding it in Canada.
It looks like it turned out great! I was surprised to see how powerful the Metamorphosis powers were, though. For instance, Minor Metamorphosis seems to combine Alter Self with a whole mess o' other powers and it's a 1st or 2nd level power, not to mention that there's a feat that allows you to manifest it as a move action. It's mighty tempting to take it with Expanded Knowledge...
Dabbler |
It is very good, but it is also limiting - it's a great self-buff, but only a shaper is going to have it early on, and he has d6 hit dices and 1/2 BAB. It doesn't function like alter self or polymorph-type spells in that you do not become another creature, you merely modify yourself to have aspects of other creatures. In short, you can still look like you, especially early on.
We had some very long debates on it, and in the end the menu system spread over three powers seemed the way to go. It's a menu system because psionics is traditionally more flexible than magic, it has more than one power to get them all because that's the way that Pathfinder took the shape-changing spells.
Yes, it's a power you could take it with Expanded Knowledge as a psychic warrior at 5th level, but at that level it's not so hot. The main advantage with it is to a wilder wanting a flexible power - and that's one reason it's largely an egoist power, so that you need Expanded Knowledge to take the higher levels.

Enlarge Person is always useful. Being able to stack a Dex bonus and/or natural armor bonus and/or a burrow speed (!) etc. is just gravy, especially as a move action.
One thing that's weird, though -- why does it give a bonus to Bluff checks but not to Disguise checks when you try to impersonate another creature?

True, but you only get one feature for the base manifesting cost (and enlarge is a first level spell). After that it's +1 effective level to the power in terms of resources if you want more features.

I think that was a typo!

Salutations and whatnot,
I just wanted to stop in and say that I've thoroughly enjoyed reading your campaign adventures so far. :) If your psions don't show up and you want/need another player, I'd love to be considered.
I'm 27, have 10 years of 3.x experience (switched to Pathfinder a year ago), and various other games before that. I can commit to playing regularly (I'm in the US, central time zone), especially on weekends and in the evenings.

I wouldn't mind having someone take over Quar or Gob, but I'd rather not have another "Oh no -- yet another psion has mysteriously gone missing! And here comes yet another psion to help you investigate."
:-)
Ha, yeah that would kill the verisimilitude. I'll look over the characters, then, and wait to hear from Dabbler/Rune_Master. If I am allowed to take over one of them, maybe I'll be allowed to re-work some of the specifics if needed, since neither has seen much play?

Sorry, I posted a call out at the local Psion guild, that why they keep coming... Thought it was a good idea at time... ;P

Your sense of humour passes the test!
By all means, if you want to take over an existing character, feel free Wayne. We seem to be managing OK without Hector, but either Gob or Quar would be great for a return. Let us know what you think, and we'll arrange how to bring you in!
W Canepa |
Yay! Welcome aboard, Wayne!
Thank you kindly. :) I think I'd prefer playing Gob to Quar, based on the personalities so far, and the fact that Gob is still in the vicinity to the party.
Would you prefer I play him as statted currently, or would it be okay to re-create him as a Nomad (He seems suited to getting out of tight spots)? If I can re-create him, I can have him ready tonight or tomorrow. What was the point-buy again? And did you use average HP after the first HD or roll?
Aylmora Mvashti |
Character creation used 25 point buy. Maximum HP at first level, then the option to roll or assume half-maximum + 1 per HD for subsequent levels.
One trait to start off with, with the plan being that at the end of each chapter of the adventure we'll each be able to gain a bonus trait to represent our experiences thus far.

Thanks for the head's up. I'll start re-statting him as a Nomad, under the assumption it'll be okay. If not, I'll just copy/past the character from the last player's page. Working on him now, as I've got some free time.

Also, what was Gob's starting wealth? The character sheet lists:
Club - 0 gp (1,5 lbs.)
Small Torches x3 - 3 cp (1,5 lbs.)
Alchemist Fire x3 - 60 gp (3 lbs.)
Should I just reverse-engineer the prices, or use 2nd level starting wealth? And why are his alchemist's fires listed as 20gp each?

"It does not seem as if anyone's following us, and guarding the rear isn't helping me find Master Quar any sooner... mind if I tag along again?"
May I present the slightly revised Gob (2.0), for your review and approval.
I changed his discipline to Nomad, altered his Powers a bit, fixed his AC, modified and fixed his Skills, and increased his Wisdom at the expense of his Charisma (Wis 10 --> 12, Cha 10 --> 8).
Also, are there any Simple goblin weapons?
Gob Slickarm |
I wonder if any of you know if this seeming discrepancy has been errata'd yet:
"Discipline Talents (Ps):
Each discipline gains access to two psi-like abilities that can be used by expending psionic focus. ..." -page 22 Psionics Unleashed.
"Discipline Talents (Ps): Choose two powers from the following list: burst, catfall, decelerate, detect teleportation. As long as you maintain psionic focus, you may manifest either of your chosen powers without paying a power point cost, but the power may not be augmented or affected by metapsionic feats. ..." -page 24 Psionics Unleashed.
So, which is it? All the psion disciplines seem to indicate the latter (was one a holdover from another class or a previous version/playtest maybe?).
Gob Slickarm |
I posted my inquiry on the product page and got an answer:
There's an errata for that. Errata
Psion
Discipline Talents: Change the first two sentences to read:
Each discipline gains access to two psi-like abilities that can be used as long as the psion maintains psionic focus. Discipline talents are treated as 0-level powers for all purposes (such as save DC).
Good to know. :)

Looks good to me!
Thanks for the wealth clarification. I altered his Craft skill from (sculpture) to (armor), added his equipment, fixed a feat typo, and changed inertial armor to force screen to reflect his training with Quar (since Gornak also has it) and to stack with his armor (no armor check penalty, so non=proficiency isn't a huge deal!).
So, this is his final update, I promise.
Just let me know when you want me to jump in.
