Premium Module Reqest: Interactive Map of Golarian

Hey,

Love Paizo, love Foundry, love maps, love lore.

I'd like to suggest Paizo creates a premium module that has a high resolution map of Golarian, complete with scene notes full of lore on each location.

I moved over from 5e 2 years ago, and the biggest problem i've had is understanding the lore and what locations should look like. I know you can homebrew it up, but i'm a loyalist and think this module would be used in almost every campaign.

Just a suggestion!

Great idea! I know players frequently ask "where are we", and I often have a hard time orienting them outside of the Inner Sea region, which is generally well mapped.

This is the best resource I've found currently: https://map.pathfinderwiki.com/

Came in here to plug the map on the wiki and Tridus has already done so. It might not be as flashy as an offical source, but it is decent enough for most purposes. (wouldn't say no to an offical map tho)

I would LOVE this as a foundry pack that I could upload and let my players explore.

Not sure how good this is, but something like what you request already exists here

And this

I think this seals a long-running internal debate for me; I'm just going to take the oznogon.com maps down permanently.

I work exclusively on map.pathfinderwiki.com now, which is based in part on the work I did on the oznogon.com map (which in turn was based on the work John Mechalas did: 1, 2).

The wiki map has since incorporated geometry, scale, and position corrections established by more comprehensive and authoritative sources that were released after I stopped working on the oznogon map, as well as many detailed maps of cities and locations from both 1E and 2E sources that will never be added to the oznogon map.

I've seen people on here and in Discords and Reddit post links to both maps, or refer to the oznogon.com map as a "1E map", but it's just an incomplete and inaccurate older iteration of what's now the wiki map.

There's no situation where linking to the oznogon.com map and map.pathfinderwiki.com together is ideal, and the deprecation notices on the oznogon.com maps don't seem to deter folks. Now that map.pathfinderwiki.com has a globe display, the oznogon maps don't offer anything unique, so it's time to just shut the oznogon.com map down.

I will miss the elevation and underground view from oznogon.com maps but I understand your point.

I've been working on recreating the relief-style effect for mountains and hills on the wiki map, while trying to keep the result more consistent with canon than I was able to manage with the oznogon map, where those details were entirely an invention. I don't have an ETA on that since the pace of canon changes has kept the time I can devote to the map pretty full with mapping or updating locations relevant to new works and keeping up with new maps.

The Darklands maps aren't compatible with the current overland scale and position of related locations, and I'm not in a hurry to try to adapt maps at that scale when a lot of broad-strokes Darklands details are in a sort of canon purgatory until some future book re-establishes them.

The Crown of the World is in a similar state. The few overlapping areas that have been depicted in more recent maps of the Inner Sea region and Tian Xia are geographically incompatible with the Jade Regent and Gatewalkers maps of parts of the Crown, and nothing's revisited the region in enough detail since to reconcile or update them. But that was also true on the oznogon map, which had to invent workarounds for a lack of maps or inconsistencies in depictions of the spaces between the crown and continents.

In the end, none of those parts of the oznogon map were particularly compatible with canon, as neat as I agree that they were in concept.

Might I suggest a simple redirect instead of a complete shutdown?

Basically a pop up window saying "This is out of date, I'm redirecting you to the map wiki."

I saw the deprecation note, but as long as the page is available I wouldn't not mention it to someone looking for things. Even if the wiki map is more substantially complete.

That's exactly what I did; thanks for the suggestion.

I want the entire planet in full VR 3D Unreal Engine 5. It will happen this decade in Menyr and it’ll be glorious. I just have to take care when I cross the street so I can stay alive to see it.
