Advice on best feat selection for an Orcish Champion (Remaster) to Utilize / Optimise a Gnome Flickmace

Advice

I am also looking for advice on Shield Selection. I would like to maintain mobility on the battlefield but otherwise open to suggestions.

Cheers

Well, to use the weapon effectively, you're going to need unconventional weaponry or gnomish weapon familiarity- That means being a Dromaar or taking the adopted ancestry general feat- The latter is somewhat problematic given you won't get it until level 3 and won't get to take the actual ancestry feat until level 5.

It might be more practical to look at the Breaching Pike or Asp Coil instead, so your weapon comes online at level 1.

As for shields, the classic steel shield is probably your best bet. It's a good all rounder that preserves your mobility.

How am I going to recommend feats for the remaster champion without having Player Core 2 yet?

“Don’t”.

At this point I think it's relevant to ask if the gnome flickmace is still really THE champion weapon. The remaster knocked it down two pegs;
- Damage die from 1d8 to 1d6 (but gained Sweep)
- Flails no longer automatically knock down on a critical hit, enemies get a saving throw now.

It's still a decent weapon, but it's not miles ahead of the rest anymore. If I'm a gnome, sure I'd use it. But as an orc I don't think it's worth the extra hassle to get the proficiency, there are other options that are cheaper and about as good.

Use a steel shield with augmentation, it allows you to trip and shove or disarm.
Together with deities domain (might) it makes you quite good in controlling your surroundings.
