The Elemental Barbarian has a real problem.
All the impulses get the Rage trait.

Which means all impulses can't be used outside of combat, and they end when rage ends. This is a big problem for utility impulses.

No, not all impulses. Only ones with the same with the same element type you chose for your Elemental Instinct gain the rage trait. So, if you are fire barb, and you gain Kinesticist archetype, any non-fire impulses do not gain the rage trait.

Fire could only be used when raging. Other ones could only be used when not raging.

Yeah, that is a little bit silly. should put that non damaging impulses dont gain the trait or something similar
Only other gripe i have with elemental instinct barb is that it doesnt have a high level feat, although paizo mightve expected you'd be taking feats in kinet archetype instead. Still feels a lil silly though

Doesn't the aura just tie in with all the right element traits. I don't think you can even use an impulse if that gate is not active.

Yes, elemental barb with kineticist dedication would only have one element until 10th level when he could take Add Element MC feat to pick up a second.

Personally I think the Rage trait should be split into two traits.

Rage that allows you to use the action while raging.
Raging that requires you to be raging in order to use the action.

Raging Intimidation almost has this same problem. It adds the Rage trait to Demoralize, but only while you are raging.

For now, I would run the Elemental Barbarian Impulse similarly. At least for the ones that have out-of-combat utility.

Though I also recommend doing that for things like Raging Athlete.

I think it's more like the impulses gain the rage trait while raging. I really don't think it's meant to give them the rage trait when you aren't raging.

Same. I feel the "While raging" in the sentences above also apply to the Impulses gaining the Rage trait.

Easiest explanation.
