I know how Folca was taken out!
We used him as a post-campaign treat for our Wrath of the Righteous playthrough.
It wasn't meant to be particularly challenging compared to, say, Deskari of Baphomet, just an excuse to show off and clean up a part of the setting that needed cleaning...

Yep! Nothing gets fully revealed until the stream.

In before the one who kicks off the War is Aroden. Pharasma judged him when he died and...allowed him to reincarnate. Took him a century to reclaim his power. Maybe he's been Razmir all along. Razmir likes masks, Aroden was known for having many faces/expressions. Razmaroden calls Iomadae to him and then rips divinity from her. Inheritor, indeed.
(Yes, yes. I know this isn't the actual answer and Paizo may never actually give us the Aroden answer. Just have fun, yeah?)

Wait, they're going to actually announce the impending death before the books come out? I thought they were going to keep it secret to maximize the gut-punch to the playerbase when it happens?

I think trying to keep it a secret once it is getting finalized and sent off to the printers (possibly also going out for preview) is probably more than Paizo expects to happen and they would rather be the ones to make the big announcement themselves.

I think the impact will be greatest just after we all simmer and ponder once we know for sure which deities are safe and which could die.
After that, the tension would go down if they kept us waiting for too long.

I hope you're right. Like I've said before, I still have trauma from what the Spellplague did to Forgotten Realms, especially to Neverwinter. And the footnote in the History of the Realms book where we got blindsided by Tyr killing Helm over a misunderstanding involving a love triangle with Sune and subsequently going on a demon-slaying suicide mission to atone for it. Even though 5e ostensibly undid that, it still hurts. I don't want something like that to happen to Iomedae. :(

It's generally important to solicit periodicals (like Pathfinder APs) before they come out in order to get people interested in them. We generally know the titles and something about APs several months in advance. I imagine part of the "they're announcing it beforehand" is that it will be possible to infer which deity has died based on the titles and premises of the various tie-in books they want us to preorder.

Yeah. Having something like a stand-alone module called "Pathfinder Adventures: Silent Sun" would probably give the game away, for example, so why not build the discovery into an announcement they can control and build loads of fun hype around?

We are required to solicit books six months before they are due to be released (so that hobby and book stores can decide if/how many they want to carry etc. ) So we figured we would control the hype ourselves. Not EVERYTHING is being spoilt, but you will learn the name of the god who is dying, and see the tie in products that deal with the aftermath of that event.

The next hint: The next safe deity is a member of the Godclaw pantheon.
Asmodeus (Already Safe)
IomedaeTorag
Abadar
Irori
Given they make up a third of the unsafe deities, it would be a struggle to NOT have one of them be next.
So, place your bets:
Iomedae (Row 1, Col 2)
Torag (Row 1, Col 3)
Abadar (Row 2, Col 4)
Irori (Row 3, Col 1)
Given the current pattern has only 1 safe in rows 1 and 5, I'm betting the Inheritor is marked safe this time out.

It's been a moment since I checked in on this thread and there's a lot of updates, so quick vibe check: How do people feel about Sarenrae's odds? Amongst my friend group we're all terrified it will be her (or one of the other Prismatic Baes, but feel like Sarenrae has had the most death flags) and I swg I'm gonna cry if it is. Every time a new Godsrain Prophecy comes out we all talk about the remaining gods' chances trying to find a reason for it not to be Sarenrae. But maybe I'm in a bubble over here and there's very compelling arguments being made for the others' demises.

That's more or less been the tone of the discussion, yup. Not really many reasons why X deity won't be the one to go, and more reasons folks coming up with for why a different deity might be picked.

Honestly, ALL those four are ones people have said "oh this is absolutely who will die", so I'm looking forward to whoever it is. Also because I enjoy (certain kinds of) chaos, and there will be people FUMING at whoever it is who ISN'T going to die, and that's funny.
Oh, question about the Twitch stream thing: how long does that take to get put on Youtube? Because I have an old computer, and whenever I try to watch a Twitch stream I end up a few minutes behind anyways, so "watching it as it happens" was never an option for me.

I'm betting it'll be Iomadae, personally. Partly because I guess it fills out a pattern in the safeness diagram, and also because I want it to be true. She's not a deity who interests me personally, but she's one who appeals to a lot of folks and having a simple, straightforward deity of fighting badguys is always nice to have.

Column 3 is already kinda full, so maybe not Torag?

Ridge |

So with the revelation that this week is a member of the Godclaw, who are y'alls bets on the remaining two?
Fifteen quatloos Irori is put on the safe list after IMMORTAL KOMBAT fiction!
Ten quatloos Gozreh avoids a two for one meal and makes it to the safe list's last of ten!
(I actually have NO idea, but it's fun to speculate)

![]() |

I think Torag will not be the one who die and I think his What If death tale could be glorious.
I guess we will have Iomedae (most popular of the Godclaw) or Irori (most boring of the Core 20) instead.
If it's Irori, at least a good tale might interest me in him.
Though I guess Paizo could keep that for a future Vudra book.

I fear I'm on the same page as you, I'm also pretty convinced by now it will be her and she's my favorite deity of the setting, basically the emblematic one for Pathfinder, IMO. It'll be pretty devastating for my enjoyment of the setting it I turn out to be right. Which I still hope to be not.

Completely understand! It can take a few days ( processing for Youtube is intensive for longer videos) but I know we want it up ASAP so... since Im not the one actually doing that I'm not sure but not too long?

And now I'm wondering if the 9 who will not die nor get their What If now might get it in a future book (say Irori in a Vudra book and several in the future Divine Mysteries book).
Come to think of it, maybe all the 20 Godsrain Prophecies (including one for Arazni) will appear in Divine Mysteries. That might actually be the IC narrative threading the book.

Re: Who I think the last two safe will be, I'd put money on Abadar being safe (badum tsh) because if he dies I'm fairly sure the world's economy will just break. And I think Gozreh will be safe because how do you kill the wind? The sea? And why? What sort of motive do they have? (Unless the culprit is Team Magma.) But then they are called the Godsrain Prophecies...

Regarding Abadar, the current year on Earth in the setting is 1929.

New Iomedae speculation.
The Starstone is going nuclear. It has just been recharging since it crashed to the surface and has been leeching the power/potential/spirit from all the people who tried and failed the Test. In a very Superman-drags-the-bomb-to-the-sun moment, Iomedae physically lifts the Starstone away from the surface but doesn't quite make it out of atmosphere. It blows up and so does she. Now all mortality has become the Inheritor.

As if crises of overproduction were aberrations that needed special pleading to be explained, and not a perfectly normal part of capitalism.

Honestly I'd been interpreting it the other way around; that it weakened Abadar at JUST the right moment to make something actually fatal.
...that got me thinking; the church of Abadar would likely actively try to PREVENT stuff like that from happening. Or well, if not the church as an entity, then at least it would be something that they'd understand as against his vision, if they thought about it. As I understand it, Abadar isn't a god of "capitalism", but rather "commerce (including capitalism) in service to civilization"; and he'd feel much the same towards stuff like *gestures vaguely*, as a god of growth and healing would feel towards cancer. Parts of it being overactive, in detriment to the whole.

Not so sure Gozreh will be next on the safe list now that I look at the pattern forming, but we'll see.

So looks like we should definitely be taking stock of the commonalities across the stories, might give us some idea of what is to come in the War of Immortals. Aside from the ones I mentioned on the post (Void, god devouring thing, fundamentals of reality being altered), is it just me or has Zon Kuthon (and some others) showed up in most of these stories? EDIT: Likely recency bias on my end, but still, we should list and figure out as many common elements as we can.
