Just 1. You'll need to roll, because the party doesn't exactly know the direction from where the Goblins approached.

First, climb a tree and roll Perception.

Male Gnome Silksworn Occultist 1 | HP: 12/12 | AC: 12, 12, 11 | CMB: -3, CMD: 8 | F: +3, R: +1, W: +1 | Init: +1 | Perc: +3 | Go to Sheet.

Goldus will prepare his Focus points as follows

Spoiler:

3 evocation
2 Conjuration
2 Enchanting
3 Illusion

I have to say I’m dubious about the practicalities of interrogating or reasoning with goblins said Goldus with a yawn and a stretch as got up from preparing his implements. Then wrinkled his nose at Tassadar’s actions. Then again, impracticle can be worked around...sometimes at least.

M Male N Ranger | HP 12/12| AC: 17 (12 Tch, 15 Fl) | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | F:+ 3, R: +4, W: +1; | Init: +4 | Perc: +4, SM: +0 | Speed 20ft | Combat Reflexes (3 AOOs/round, threaten at both 5ft and 10 ft)

climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Despite clankering like an old tin can, Tassadar shimmies up the tree like he is part ape.

Well all humans descended from apes, so...

He then looks around.

perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Survival if it matters: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Tassadar: You don't see any structures nearby, but on coming down, you do see the tracks.

M Male N Ranger | HP 12/12| AC: 17 (12 Tch, 15 Fl) | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | F:+ 3, R: +4, W: +1; | Init: +4 | Perc: +4, SM: +0 | Speed 20ft | Combat Reflexes (3 AOOs/round, threaten at both 5ft and 10 ft)

"I don't see anything that looks like a goblin encampment, but I do see tracks."Tassadar points them out for the party to see. "Let's follow them."

He then proceeds to do exactly just that, and makes sure the party is following him.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Headed north, I presume?" says Aeden.

After about 30 minutes, the tracks lead the party to a crude encampment, placed near the low ruins of a stone shell keep ( a small tower ). Everyone, roll perception.

Male Human Magus - 1

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

M Male N Ranger | HP 12/12| AC: 17 (12 Tch, 15 Fl) | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | F:+ 3, R: +4, W: +1; | Init: +4 | Perc: +4, SM: +0 | Speed 20ft | Combat Reflexes (3 AOOs/round, threaten at both 5ft and 10 ft)

perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

"This camp is much closer than the ones that Lord Feather suspected," says Aeden. "I wonder how long these ruins have been here?"

Anyone who has Knowledge( Local ), Knowledge( Engineering ), or Knowledge( Nobility ) may roll a check.

Perception DC 15:
As you walk on the floor of the ruin, a section sounds hollow.

M Male N Ranger | HP 12/12| AC: 17 (12 Tch, 15 Fl) | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | F:+ 3, R: +4, W: +1; | Init: +4 | Perc: +4, SM: +0 | Speed 20ft | Combat Reflexes (3 AOOs/round, threaten at both 5ft and 10 ft)

"We were paid to kill goblins. If they're nearer, it'll save us the walk."Tassadar replies. "Now do we need to take their ears to show the deed has been done? Carrying a sack full of ears is lighter then a sack full of goblin heads, though both start stinking after a while. "

"We could salt them for preservation, though." He adds.

Aeden: remember your dream.

Male Human (Chained) Rogue 1 | HP = 11 | AC = 14 (FF=10) (T=14) | F+0 R+6 | W -1 | Ini. +10 | Per +3

Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14.
Knowledge Local 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

"The goblins must be using the ruins as a camp; it puts them close enough to raid the town."

M Male N Ranger | HP 12/12| AC: 17 (12 Tch, 15 Fl) | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | F:+ 3, R: +4, W: +1; | Init: +4 | Perc: +4, SM: +0 | Speed 20ft | Combat Reflexes (3 AOOs/round, threaten at both 5ft and 10 ft)

"Let's clean the tower out then."Tassadar states determinedly as he marches towards the tower, leading the party, albeit sounding like ironworks.

Aeden:
You find a well-made trapdoor, beyond the skills of Goblins to make.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Aeden walks the perimeter of the ruins, then pauses and squints. She moves into the rubble and starts poking about with her toe of her boot. After several minutes of this she says, "Over here - I think I found something."

She bends down to clear away dirt and debris, revealing a trapdoor.

"This is not goblin-craft. It's too well constructed. The hinges are iron, the wood is planed. If the goblins live here... it's in a place originally built by someone else. Or the goblins are working for someone else."

Male Human Magus - 1

Jared nods. "Judging by how much dirt has built up, I don't think this has been opened recently."

M Male N Ranger | HP 12/12| AC: 17 (12 Tch, 15 Fl) | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | F:+ 3, R: +4, W: +1; | Init: +4 | Perc: +4, SM: +0 | Speed 20ft | Combat Reflexes (3 AOOs/round, threaten at both 5ft and 10 ft)

The tower there's no going up only down? Nothing above ground?

No. It looks like a dragon might have knocked it down ages ago, or it was sacked during a war.

M Male N Ranger | HP 12/12| AC: 17 (12 Tch, 15 Fl) | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | F:+ 3, R: +4, W: +1; | Init: +4 | Perc: +4, SM: +0 | Speed 20ft | Combat Reflexes (3 AOOs/round, threaten at both 5ft and 10 ft)

Tassadar checks the trapdoor for traps.

perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

If he does not manage to find any...

Tassadar lifts the trapdoor up and leads the party downwards.. Into the Darkness!

Male Gnome Silksworn Occultist 1 | HP: 12/12 | AC: 12, 12, 11 | CMB: -3, CMD: 8 | F: +3, R: +1, W: +1 | Init: +1 | Perc: +3 | Go to Sheet.

Goldus tentatively walks towards the ruins inspecting them as he does.
I wonder he mutters. looks like Aeden is right in any case, this isn’t Goblin, whether they’re working for someone else I don’t know. Would be unusual in my experience. But it could certainly be an outpost

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Knowledge Nobility: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Goldus:
This was a watchtower during the Goblin Wars a thousand years ago. Lord Feather's ancestors manned the Watchtowers to watch for Goblinoid activity during the period of the Valkari Empire.

Male Gnome Silksworn Occultist 1 | HP: 12/12 | AC: 12, 12, 11 | CMB: -3, CMD: 8 | F: +3, R: +1, W: +1 | Init: +1 | Perc: +3 | Go to Sheet.

Goldus makes a small gasp of realisation.
I knew it would come to me he said patting the walls of ruin If I’m not very much mistaken, and might I add that I very rarely am, then our patron Lord Feather has a spot of personal history with this tower. His anscenters used it to monitor Goblin activity a millennium back. It would be a terrible irony for them to have taken it up now. An irony of which I suspect they are blissfully unaware. Goblins not known for their generational memory after all

Goldus cast dancing light before Tassador hopefully illuminating some of the darkness.

M halfling Unchained Rogue7/Wizard 3/Arcane Trickster 4 HP: 53/61 | AC: 26/22, 17, 15 | CMB: 4, CMD: 10 | F: +8 R: +13, W: +7 | Init: +12 | Perc: +12 |

Flouncy peers inside.

percep: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"The boundaries of the civilized world contract, it seems," says Aeden. "We should definitely make sure that this old ruin remains free of any encroaching enemies."

She peers down into the darkness.

Those that have Darkvision, roll perception.

You see a dog sized spider near a door at the foot of an Iron ladder.

"Well, maybe Lord Feather will pay us extra for clearing a place of significance to his ancestors." Tassadar states.

Now

perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

"Spider ahead! Big one the size of a dog."Tasaadar moves up to slash it.

I didn't bring my dice, paper, and CRB today. Combat will have to wait until tomorrow. All the high-speed data on my hotspot has run out, and only now is my browser loading pages as fast as it should. Sorry.

Tassadar: you know everything there is to know about this.

"Its a giant spider - its bite is poisonous and it can spit web! And also the legs might taste good roasted!" Tassadar tells his team mates all about the spider.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"I see it," says Aeden. "Anyone handy with a bow?"

I believe Flouncy is, to that end I could also try and sheild on your approach with a Dazing Spell

Spoken as Goldus, of course.

Spider's Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
The spider can see light coming from the trapdoor. Roll initiative.

Male Gnome Silksworn Occultist 1 | HP: 12/12 | AC: 12, 12, 11 | CMB: -3, CMD: 8 | F: +3, R: +1, W: +1 | Init: +1 | Perc: +3 | Go to Sheet.

initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Goldus casts makes sure someone big and tough is in between him and spider and will try to cast Daze, (DC14)

M halfling Unchained Rogue7/Wizard 3/Arcane Trickster 4 HP: 53/61 | AC: 26/22, 17, 15 | CMB: 4, CMD: 10 | F: +8 R: +13, W: +7 | Init: +12 | Perc: +12 |

Flouncy loads his crossbow, looking for something to hide behind so he can get sneak attack.

stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22

attack roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

He mutters to himself, frustrated that he can't aim better, and goes for another bolt.

Flouncy, please roll initiative. This isn't a free-for-all. The Spider knows you're there, and is about to climb the ladder.

Male Human Magus - 1

Initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 1

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Aeden dutifully draws her rapier, prepares her shield, and takes up a position to protect Goldus as the spider comes up.

Ready action: Strike the spider as it tries to climb up to the top of the ladder. Does this garner the usual bonuses for attacking a climbing individual (loses its Dex bonus), or is it a better climber than that?

Initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17

Dexter's player is leaving. I'll bot him until I find a way for him to gracefully leave.

Dexter: Initiative: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

M halfling Unchained Rogue7/Wizard 3/Arcane Trickster 4 HP: 53/61 | AC: 26/22, 17, 15 | CMB: 4, CMD: 10 | F: +8 R: +13, W: +7 | Init: +12 | Perc: +12 |

init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

Looks like Flouncy did good.

Why don't you just roll initiative at the start of combat rounds?

Is everyone okay with me rolling initiatives for the PCs?

Yes, I do it all the time and it saves time. And my init was posted here

Sorry about that. I didn't see it. Oops.
