Bleeding Finisher feat question

Pathfinder Second Edition General Discussion

Hello all,

Looking for an answer on this because its being read 2 ways in my group, and its the second line thats causing the problem. The feat reads as:

"Your blow inflicts profuse bleeding. Make a slashing or piercing Strike with a weapon or unarmed attack that allows you to add your precise strike damage. If you hit, the target also takes persistent bleed damage equal to your precise strike finisher damage."

So....is it:

#1 - Make a (slashing or piercing Strike with a weapon) or (unarmed attack) that allows you to add your precise strike damage.

Or should it be:

#2 - Make a (slashing or piercing Strike with a weapon) or (slashing or piercing unarmed attack) that allows you to add your precise strike damage.

Scenerio:

Swashbuckler is being played more like a wrestler who likes to grab and makes all attack with unarmed attacks (+1 striking handwraps). So if he punches (which is blunt), can he do Bleeding Finisher? The player is reading it as #1, and I can kinda see either but lean towards #2

Thanks for all input!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

it's the 2nd reading.

you need a slashing or piercing unarmed attack.

Unarmed attack is a type of weapon (without being actually a "weapon"), not a type of action

linkified

make a (slashing or piercing) strike with a (weapon or unarmed attack)
