When my witch uses one of the Fey form spells, does she become the fey or does she just get to the size of the Fey. I just picked up Fey Form 3 which allows diminutive size Fey. The word "Form" to me means my witch would take the form of the Fey, in other words she would look like a diminutive Fey like an Atomie? In the Archives of Nethys, it says you gain the abilities of the Fey you take the form of.
Secondly, what diminutive Fey are there? I can only find the Atomie and have not found any others.
And another question. In the Bestiary, Sprites are about 9 inches tall and are tiny. In the description of Atomie, it says they are about a foot tall but are diminutive. So how can they be taller but considered smaller?

School transmutation (polymorph)
...
You assume the form of a Small or Medium creature of the fey type.
A polymorph spell transforms your physical body to take on the shape of another creature. While these spells make you appear to be the creature, granting you a +10 bonus on Disguise skill checks, ...
Crucially, your creature type doesn't change from (presumably) Humanoid to Fey. Rules that allow for this explicitly call it out. For example:
Perfect Self: At 20th level, a monk becomes a magical creature. He is forevermore treated as an outsider rather than as a humanoid (or whatever the monk's creature type was) for the purpose of spells and magical effects.
So, a Witch that casts a Fey Form spell looks like a Fey creature of a specific type, gains the appearance of a generic member of that creature's type, and gains a certain number of that creature's abilities (depending on the spell being used), but does not become a Fey creature.

I understand that she continues to be "human". So she just looks like and has the abilities of the form she takes.
not quite, the laundry list of abilities you gain are quite specific by spell and the creature has to have them for the spell to confer them. It's sodoku polymorph. There are a multitude of things you lose or that require care(like setting down things that would meld and picking them back up after the spell). The main reason this spell is favored is many (humanoid) target forms have hands and a language so spellcasting is not an issue and gear is wearable/usable thus does not meld.
Polymorphamory is a decent guide to choices. While the spell requires a bit of the creature you are going to turn into AND there's no cost associated with that, make sure your GM agrees that you have X number of those parts for the spell as some GMs restrict some components.

thanks for the info. For some reason the site I was using said the sprite was tiny not diminutive. I will use the Nethys as my source since the info seems to agree.
So exactly what are the sizes? What is the size difference between Tiny and Diminutive in inches? The one site said Sprites were 9 inches and that Atomies were 12 inches tall. That doesn't seem that small to me. 3 to 5 inches seems like a better range of sizes for Diminutive.| Derklord |
A diminutive creature occupies a space of 1 square foot.* Since the game is mostly done in 2D, size categorie is only secondarily about height, and more about wideness and bulk, if you will. Look at the race hight chart in the CRb, a dwarf is not much taller than a gnome, and much smaller than the other medium sized races, but they're much more massive than the small size races. The rules match this, basing size category not on height but on the other dimensions.
+) "A Tiny creature typically occupies a space only 2-1/2 feet across, so four can fit into a single square. 25 Diminutive creatures or 100 Fine creatures can fit into a single square." (CRB pg. 194) A 5ft square is 3600 in², 1/25th of that is 144 in², or 1 ft².
