Disrupt Undead Attack?

Rules Discussion

I have looked in errata and here but cannot find. Does Disrupt Undead count as an attack for the purpose of multi-attack penalty? Please include rule ref. Location. Thank you all for help and understanding.

It doesn't have the attack trait, so no

Every check that has the attack trait counts toward your multiple attack penalty, including Strikes, spell attack rolls, certain skill actions like Shove, and many others

disrupt undead doesn't have a spell attack roll. it's save or die.

If you're rolling the d20 it probably has the attack trait. If you're making them roll the d20, it probably doesn't have the attack trait.

Don't confuse Attack actions with Hostile Actions. Causing damage is not what increases Multiple Attack Penalty.

You can see the difference by looking at the traits:

ray of frost has an attack trait (and has you make a spell attack roll)

disrupt undead does not have an attack trait (and the enemy is making a save, you're not making an attack roll)

As a side effect of this, a one-action ranged attack can be nice for spellcasters, since you might still have an action left after spellcasting and no MAP yet. You're probably not going to do amazing damage, but it's a nice freebie.

Thank you all for this great insight! I appreciate all of the responses.
