Repelling Pulse

Advice

Looking for opinions, is this a good spell to have prepped daily or is it too situational for a Cleric?

Traditions divine, occult
Cast somatic, verbal
Area 30-foot emanation
Saving Throw Reflex
You unleash a powerful pulse of telekinetic power, and the pulse violently hurls creatures away from you. Each creature in the area takes 7d10 force damage depending on its Reflex save.

Critical Success The creature is unaffected.
Success The creature takes half damage.
Failure The creature takes full damage and is pushed 10 feet away from you.
Critical Failure The creature takes double damage. The creature is pushed 20 feet away from you and is then knocked prone.

I usually find that indiscriminately damaging spells with a 30 foot emanation area are difficult to find a use for.

For this one specifically it seems like too much risk of hurting allies if used while in a normal positioning setup. And too risky to rely on to keep enemies away if you get stranded from your allies and surrounded.

It's not a good spell for a Cleric, as you'll have very few chances to use it on a daily basis.
It can be a nice spell for an Oracle, as depending on the curse some Oracles operate fine at melee range and the damage is really nice. Definitely not a bad spell, but not one for prepared casters.

Ah gotcha! Thanks! What about Enervation, looking for an offensive spell for a Neutral deity. Is Enervation any good or pretty garbage?

I would consider Enervation to be rather good. I also like the idea of Painful Vibrations, Vampiric maiden, and simply heightening Sound Burst.

You should consider using Sudden Blight, too (especially instead of Sound Burst).

Interesting Sudden Blight looks pretty decent. In terms of Enervation when would you use this best? Vs multiple mooks or should it be used against above level enemies and bosses?

It's ideal against a couple of enemies. Lines easily catch 2 enemies but beyond that it becomes harder and harder. On the other hand, it's a good spell against a single target as the damage is really high, but I always feel that I lose the AoE ability.

Even if they are mooks? Because I am concerned the enemy may not last more than a full round of focus fire. Isn't the real benefit of this spell the persistent damage round after round?

By a couple of enemies, I mean an encounter with a couple of enemies. So they are no mooks.
Against mooks, you'll have hard time catching a lot of them, so it's not ideal. Spells like Fireball should have a better effect.

Gotcha! Thanks Bidi!
