Heya.
I've been getting into Darkest Dungeon lately, and I thought it might be fun to see how people would make THE HEROES as Pathfinder characters.
There's no real rules or anything to this, if you want to mechanically match them as closely as possible or just try something aesthetically or thematically similar then whatever floats your boat.
Here are the heroes, and I'll try to think of a guess as to which class each hero might be easily compared to (although obviously I'm here to see what other people think, so my class-guess is just to give an impression for those who don't know them).
ABOMINATION - Tortured and reclusive... this man is more dangerous than he seems... (Shifter I guess?)
ANTIQUARIAN - She searches where others will not go... and sees what others will not see. (Occultist maybe?)
ARBALEST - Shoot, bandage and pillage: the dancing steps of war. (Maybe Ranger?)
BOUNTY HUNTER - The thrill of the hunt... The promise of payment... (Brawler?)
CRUSADER - A mighty sword-hand anchored by a holy purpose. A zealous warrior. (Paladin, definitely Paladin)
GRAVEROBBER - To those with the keen eye, gold gleams like a dagger's point. (Investigator?)
HELLION - Barbaric rage and unrelenting savagery make for a powerful ally. (Barbarian)
HIGHWAYMAN - Elusive, evasive, persistent. Righteous traits for a rogue. (Rogue/Gunsliner Multiclass)
HOUNDMASTER - A lawman and his faithful beast - a bond forged by battle and bloodshed. (Ranger or Cavalier)
JESTER - He will be laughing still... at the end. (Bard)
LEPER - This man understands that adversity and existence are one and the same. (Figher maybe? Or perhaps Battle Oracle with a Wasting Curse?)
MAN AT ARMS - The raw strength of youth may be spent, but his eyes hold the secrets of a hundred campaigns. (Oh wait, this one's the Cavalier, sharing teamwork feats)
MUSKETEER - A champion markswoman - keen for a new kind of challenge. (Gunslinger obviously) <- I haven't played this one (it's DLC, and also kind-of a re-skin of the Arbalest)
OCCULTIST - To fight the abyss, one must know it. (I mean Occultist comes to mind for obvious reasons, but a Wizard or Mesmerist or something actually fits better ...?)
PLAGUE DOCTOR - What better laboratory than the blood-soaked battlefield? (Alchemist, pretty easy comparison)
VESTAL - A sister of battle - pious and unrelenting! (Cleric)
FLAGELLANT - There is power in the Blood, for those with the fortitude to pay the price. (Blood Kineticist maybe?) <- I haven't played this one (it's DLC)
SHIELDBREAKER - Shifting, swaying - she mesmerizes her prey before the final strike. (No idea sorry) <- I haven't played this one (it's DLC)

So my first character to convert is the Graverobber. I recently came across the GRAVEDIGGER archetype for the Investigator class (Investigator/Occultist hybrid archetype), and it made me think of the Graverobber in Darkest Dungeon. Honestly it's not a particularly close match mechanically, but thematically it would fit perfectly in a game like Darkest Dungeon and it made me think of the Graverobber ... probably because of the name, but using a pick and/or shovel as a weapon also helps the connection. This was kind-of the reason I started thinking of how people would make DD characters in PF, so even though it's not actually a great match it got me thinking.
So what do people think? How would you build a character if you were asked to play someone based off one of them? (And again, it can be as mechanically and/or thematically different as you like, as long as you can argue why it's that character.)
TLDR: How would you build a Darkest Dungeon hero as a Pathfinder Character?

Bounty Hunter - Transporter Ranger
Mostly focusing on his camping skills here, but Plot Course would grant a scaling bonus to the entire party's Initiative/Perception/Stealth which certainly helps with scouting and avoiding being surprised.
As for combat, Transporter unfortunately doesn't stack with any of the more flexible FE archetypes. But starting at level 11 you should have four casts of Instant Enemy available if you've bought a Lesser Rod of Echoing (14,000), which is enough to last all the important fights in a day. Planar Heritage (Duskwalker) would result in a +8 FE (Undead) bonus by now.
Hook Fighter to reposition foes within 15 ft, and Pushing Assault to push them away.

Flagellant - Vigilante 12 / Bard 1
"His power lies within the martyrdom, and it is something that transcends physical laws: every action of violence that lands on his tortured corpus creates not an equal, but a far more potent reaction."
If we're aiming to deliberately take damage then the Song of Sarkoris Bardic Masterpiece is a very strong choice. Which is available as long as we have just a single Bard/Skald level and pay with a feat.
Probably going down the Resilient Martyr-> Healer's Hands-> Signature Skill(Heal) route in combination with the Unkillable Vigilante Talent to be able to soak a lot of punishment.
To make the performance rounds last a day, we're cheesing it with a Tuned Bowstring and switching weapons during our full-attack to make the last one with a bow. Gonna need a prehensile tail or Gloves of Storing for that as our main weapon obviously is a heavy flail.

Can't hurt!

Arbalest - Paladin
Heavy armor, dealing massive dmg, and ability to heal allies? Yup, that's a paladin.
The Double Crossbow. Second heaviest (held) ranged weapon in the game and hits like a truck. But in return it imposes a big attack penalty and has issues reloading. We're circumventing these issues with the tricks outlined here.
I'd probably take Oath of Vengeance or Oath of the Skyseeker to make my Smites last. We're relying on Smites to deal dmg so that's important.

Hey awesome, I'd be keen to hear them.
Sorry I kinda abandoned this thread. I got Covid, and then I lost access to my account for a month or something (Turns out it's just not compatoble with my phone's default browsee anymore for some reason, had to download Edge). Anyway when I came back it had kinda just fizzled. I'm 100% keen to see anything you come up with though.
I might see if I can come up with some builds as well. I still think there's fun to be had here =)
Thanks for the revival TheDarkPrince, I'd love to see what you come up with.
(I also should finish Darkest Dungeon ... I got to like Darkest-Dungeon-4 before I went on hiatus, so I just need to find time to finish it. I must be super close to the end.)

Alright I'll take a stab at the Graverobber.
The graverobber is a mobile hero who has some decent melee and ranged options, some poisoned darts, a defensive potion that gives dodge (Armour Class) and an invisibility ability that also buffs the Graverobber's damage for a few turns. The poisoned darts also give a damage boost to some of her attack options. For her Camping skills (downtime abilities) she cand heal some conditions, improve scouting and produce some supply items.
I've gone with ALCHEMIST with the TOXICANT and VIVISECTIONIST archetypes.
I went with Vivisectionist for the Sneak Attack to give a mechanical reason for the damage boost from Shadow Fade (Invisibility), and Toxicant for the Poisoned Darts. The Toxicant can also apply additional effects to her poison, and one of those effects is Blinded, which also makes use of the extra Sneak Attack damage to simulate the bonus damage against Blighted creatures for Lunge and Thrown Dagger. I was going to use a DEX-Mutagen to simulate Toxin Trickery, but the defensive bonuses can be emulated by Extracts and the Toxin from Toxicant was a better fit for the poison abilities.
For the Camping skills the Alchemist has a lot of the Graverobber's kit built into Extracts with the Infusion discovery - curing diseases, giving scouting bonuses, handing out buffs and cures to the party. Gallow's Humour is about the only one that doesn't have a direct translation, but the Stress mechanics are probably best represented in Pathfinder by ability damage, and they can be covered with Extracts.
A few things I think don't quite work with this character: This build will obviously use daggers and darts, but I haven't really found a good reason for this character to specialise in Daggers and Darts besides flavour. The dagger-focus could be improved by something like PHARASMA'S Deific Obedience (+2 Sacred bonus to hit with Daggers), but Pharasma worship seems a little out-of-character for a graverobber. Daggers do make pretty decent weapons if you can get damage from sources other than the weapon itself (They're ranged and melee, very concealable and have a decent crit-range) but I don't know that Alchemists have the feats to really take advantage of them. Finally I don't have a good analogue for Pick to the Face, which is a low-damage melee attack, but it ignores Protection (I think of this as targeting Touch AC).
If I were playing this myself I'd almost certainly just go with the Gravedigger Investigator for the thematic similarities (and because I'd enjoy playing it a lot more), but mechanically it has very little in common with the Graverobber from Darkest Dungeon.
I'm going to try to keep this thread alive a bit if I can - maybe once a week I'll post something. I might do something like post more in-depth descriptions of the Heroes each as their own post so that people can find them and get ideas, but it'll depend on how much time I have. I hope other people enjoy this - even if you're not posting - I just really like the thematic crossover between these 2 games and I'd like to think there are others who would enjoy sharing this with me.
