Diguising an Elk

OK, cleric 7 (Erastil) has an elk animal companion. That's pretty noticeable and we are being hunted... Does anyone have a suggestion as how to hide/disguise the AC to sneak into a city?

Use the Carry companion spell.

Along with Carry Companion, you could also share spells with a scroll of Beast Shape III (a Domain spell for Animal domain) and make it a Diminutive Animal for 9 minutes. Elks have a Head slot; buy a Hat of Disguise and disguise the elk as a horse. Also share spells casting Meld Into Stone, have the elk disappear into a building wall or something for 70 minutes at a time. Worst case scenario, dismiss the elk with the intention of calling it back after a 24 hour ceremony in the right environment at a later time.

If you have an arcane caster in the party:
-Cast (extended) invisibility on the AC.
-Cast (extended) gaseous form on it and have it float over the walls in to the city.
-Combine the above.

-Saw off its horns and disguise it as a cow or horse and bluff the guards, they won't have Knowledge Nature anyway. (joking)
-Why not let the elk stay out of the city and in the forest for a while?
