Items on Chronicle Sheets

Some of my players have mentioned that they're upset with the fact that chronicle sheets don't have very many items on them, if any, especially compared to 1st edition. This bothers them even more if they find some really good item at the end of the mission; they don't get to use it and I have to say, "It's a treasure bundle." One of them mentioned that in a competing RPG, the GM writes down items (especially rare/magical items) found by the the PCs on their chronicle sheet and they get access to them. Is this a plan with 2nd edition? Is this already in place and I simply missed the notification? Or if not, what should I tell my players?

There's no ability for GMs to add extra items to chronicle sheets.

In general a lot of time those good items at the end of a mission are things you already have access to, so its not like they need to be listed on the chronicle -- there might be a few times when it might be useful for accelerated access (ie a level or 2 earlier than normal), but in most cases its too cost prohibitive to matter. There's practically no reason to list any Common items. (The only example I remember of a common item being useful for accelerated access was the +1 armor rune/plate don't remember which that let a defensive character get their armor rune at level 4, if they forgo their weapon rune earlier)

Another common reason for "good items late in the adventure" are often right after a new sourcebook is releases and someone in the authorial/editorial process loved a new item and wanted to highlight it. Its not something you needed access to, but just awareness of in those cases.

Early on in season 1 they listed more things, but they were things you already had access to, so it was kind misleading/confusing. Now its mainly if its uncommon or rarer. Personally I'd rather have a short/empty list of uncommon things to look through, than a long list of common stuff that ends up being most redundant scenario to scenario and useless.

Uncommon items are frequently given via a separate boon earned by playing the scenario.

How does that work, mechanically? I played seven scenarios over the course of the Paizocon weekend and was given an uncommon item in three of them, listed on my chronicle sheet This was a little disappointing because we found every treasure bundle in each scenario, save one, and there we found nine.

If you check the boon store, you can see if any of those scenarios has a boon associated with it.

"Frequently" is not a word I would use to describe the availability of uncommon items on Scenario based boons.

Most scenarios have no associated boons.

Season 3 scenarios with purchasable boons:

3-07
3-09
3-15
3-99

2 of those give items. That's 10% of season 3 scenarios.

Finding uncommon items in scenarios is relatively rare, and when you do find uncommon items, they usually are listed on the chronicle sheet to give you access to them. Unlike in 1e, 2e rarely lists items you already have access to: There's usually no point in writing "wand of mage armour" and "+1 striking longsword" on the chronicle sheet because those are common items your character already had access to.

Are there any examples of items that are uncommon that a scenario gave to the players but weren't included in the chronicle sheet?

Thanks for the response. I opened all the tabs to get a feel for what was available.

As a new player, I have access and the ability to purchase a scant few boons, so I’ll just imagine boons only exist on an alternate plane than the one my character is on.

Have you refreshed your points since this last weekend? You should have +80 AcP.

Just to point out that scenario boons are normally free: You've earned it by playing the scenario, you just need to claim it on the web page.

The boons that you need to actually purchase are either ancestry boons (40-160acp, commonly 80acp so requires usually some 10-20 games before you can purchase them), or Avid collector-types of boons which give access to uncommon items (usually 20 acp per boon) and then there are some cheap 4-12 acp boons usually related to being a pathfinder (faction equipment, hirelings, etc).

Hi all! As I'm sure you're aware, we've had some issues with AcP and GM credit not being awarded properly lately. I am delighted to announce that these issues are 95% fixed at this time! Any future sessions reported should grant AcP and GM credit correctly, and any new OP IDs generated should include the 80 AcP starting grant for both Pathfinder and Starfinder Society. As for the 5%, well. There are some people who didn't get the 80 AcP for mysterious reasons and will need to be kicked manually, which I now have the power to do! If you or a player falls into this category, first try refreshing your points once more using the button on the GM/event coordinator tab. Assuming that doesn't work, please email orgplayreportingerrors@paizo.com with the affected OP ID and I will manually kick them into behaving. Some people have also had issues with sessions awarding erroneous PFS1 GM credit; this can be solved in the same manner. Please encourage anybody with issues to email in; the fix is literally two button clicks and I would hate for people to neglect emailing me just to avoid being a bother. I want to fix these problems, please let me! Thanks for your patience on this issue. I'll be working with tech going forward to ensure that issues like this don't go unresolved for weeks at a time. If you have any questions or other issues, don't hesitate to reach out at the above email!
