Help: What if I want a Glitter Boy?

General Discussion

Hi,

Is there a class/archetype/powered armor/mech combination that could approximate a Rifts' Glitter Boy? Y'know, with the serial numbers filed off?

Not looking for a homebrew; just something in-system.

A Mechanic with the Experimental Armor Prototype alternate class feature would be my first guess.

If you really wanted to hit the "overwhelmingly powerful" angle, you could use the Starfinder Mech rules, and stat out the Glitter Boy as a kind of mech. But I think the smallest mechs are Huge, whereas the Glitter Boy seems like it'd only be Large.

Ironclad Bulwark seems like the lowest level powered armor that could fit the bill, then maybe the Winter Walker (even has foot spikes), and then the Jarlslayer?

Mostly it's gotta be a Large, metallic, humanoid power armor and it should do the trick.

I didn't think I'd would find anything so front-loaded as a GB in Starfinder, but I was a little surprised there wasn't like a mech pilot archetype, or a soldier that specialized in power armor; I think there's a Heavy Armor specialty though?

I looked at just making a mech, but unless I read it correctly, it doesn't really work out for one person? It looked like my options were one mech that everyone pilots, or a team of small mechs... which is totally fine, btw; I'm not saying the system should have catered to my whim that it knew nothing about.

I figure whatever I end up doing, it won't feel like a GB until around 10th-14th level.

The smallest mech frames (which are Huge) allow for 1-2 pilots. So piloting one solo is definitely an option.

Armor storm soldier gets benefits from power armor or heavy. Armor experimental mechanic can make power armor early on. You can be running around in power armor at level 5? I think. Then there is the power armor jockey archetype by 6 which gives you even better power armor.

Mechs on the other hand are campaign specific, but if it's that kind of campaign, technically they can be made from level 1-20.

The archetype you're looking for is Powered Armor Jockey from Character Operations Manual.

You don't pick it up until 6th level, mind you. An Experimental Armor Prototype Mechanic or Armor Storm Soldier with this archetype is about as close as you're going to get to a Glitterboy.

Edit: Beaten by Garrettmander. Reading comprehension is essential.
