[SFrpg, PbP, Discord] Live Free or Die Recruitment

Hello, all! I am looking to start up a Starfinder PbP game. After looking through Live Free or Die I decided it would be perfect for a PbP game.

This will be played on a *small* discord server setup by a fellow player. There are a few other games going on there. We use Rod Bot for our rolls and aliases, so if you're unfamiliar, you may want to check out the Commands. We will help everyone understand how to use it.

This is a server with other people and we’re LGBTQ+ friendly and don’t tolerate sexism, racism, and the works. If you can’t get away with it on Paizo forums, you can’t get away with it on the server. Each PbP has its own separate channel for the groups to talk shop as well as a General chat if you want to shoot the breeze.

Onto the juicy stuff.

Traders, Smugglers, Businessman trying to survive in The Vast

This Adventure Path takes a crew of 4 scoundrels, rogues, and misfits trying to survive in a galaxy where everyone has a price. This isn't the adventure to save the galaxy. You have to work for a living. Honestly, you would never call yourself heroes, and your integrity will be constantly tested. This story is the story of a starship crew going from rags to riches.. but then to ruin and revenge.

One big note here. I hate the Starship combat rules.. So I will be going with the alternative rules described here. These rules should lean out the process of starship combat play. I think it will work well with PbP too. Feel free to read through these rules if you want, but we can also go over it when needed. the tl;dr of the rules are: Easing the order of play. Making some abilities more flexable to open up more character ideas. You wont need to stick with rigid character builds to also be viable in starship combat. (all good things)

Must read: Players Guide

Application Information:

Character Name: A Must have.
Theme: Please pick one of the ones listed in the Players guide. If none fit, please work with me on another to make it work.
Background: While not intended to replace your entire backstory, every character will need to pick one of these from the players guide. The tricky thing is each character will need a different one. So have an idea of one or a few that could work. We will finalize these after Characters are picked.
Alignment: Pretty flexible. But you must work with your crew. Your shipmates might be coworkers, friends, or even family. Loyal to your ship and wanting to survive. Please read the Alignment section of the players guide for more info. I would like to avoid any Jane almost getting spaced by Mal (Firefly reference) incidents.
Race: All Paizo Races are allowed. Just be aware of the history of that race. The ones that live in Azlanti space might be harder to explain, etc.
Class: All Paizo Classes are allowed. Including the newest ones. I will allow playtest as well, as long as you convert to normal after release.
Equipment: Most are going to be available, but please go with the Company Catalog first.
Biography: [b] Include a short bio on your character. Something short and sweet.
[b]Personality:
Describe what your personality is like. How would you act in situations described in the Players Guide.

Other stuff worth knowing:

We will be using Hephaistos (or any other shareable character sheet). So I can see your characters. This will also be useful so other players have some idea of what others are ok at. Though I would like to keep that mostly in character.
I will be rolling Initiatives and likely Saving Throws, to speed things up.
I hope to have posts at least 5 times a week. Things sometimes slow down over the weekend. I understand life gets in the way. If there is combat I will give 72 hours before I bot you to the best of my ability.
I have found it is a bit easier to get a post in via discord then signing into the forum. It becomes doable from from more places (like the phone). Also Hephaistos works well on the phone as well.
I will likely be posting grid based maps. So you will have a picture of the current map and be able to say you move to A4, "I shoot target #4 in square G6", or "My cone will cover squares A1, A2, A3, B2, B3, and C2", etc. I might change this options, but I want it to be doable by everyone, very easy without needing any detailed system like Roll20 that you have to boot up on a computer.
We will be using someone else's discord server. So there might be a few delays as I get set up in their environment.
I will want to track Batteries in this game. In Pathfinder I usually hand wave arrows, but I want to stick to the battery usage here. So please help by describing reloading or whatever is needed.
I will be doing milestone leveling. I think it works better than XP in prewritten adventures. It allows for more open play, vs "um lets kill more rats to level".
There will be a lot of downtime in the drift. There are downtime actives, but be prepared to chat to eachother and RP days of travel. Going to attempt to make it not boring, but space truckn is only so exciting. Having people to talk to is going to be the name of the game.

This AP has a pretty detailed subsystem about trading and moving cargo. Please also let me know if you are willing to either be primary on data tracking of that, or being willing to help. There will be a decent amount of bookkeeping in this AP. There will of course be combat, but the sandbox trading sim aspect of this AP will be strong. Please be willing to partake in that. Even if its just Role Playing finding a supplier of cows and transporting it to another system to sell. Being willing to do this will bring a lot more joy with this Adventure Path.

I am hoping to find a group of 4 players who are willing to partake in this fun Firefly, Elite Dangerous, Eve Online (MS Excel edition) adventure. Since this application is a bit long I want to give people time to build character concepts, ask questions, and get a feel for everything. The deadline for characters is Friday October 1st, midnight pst (Pacific Standard Time).

Feel free to ask any questions you have!

Play by Discord works great for my time table! So consider me interested, probably leaning towards an Operative or Soldier ...

Not sure how you feel about in operating other AP's, but I've played through some of Attack of the Swarm, so I'm leaning towards a former member of the Suskillon Defense Force who was able to get off planet before Spacedock Prime came down. Having lost his wife and kids to the Swarm, he drifted for awhile before becoming taking a job with EJ and the freedom of being on a ship, with no ties out in the Vast.

Hell yeah! I’ve been looking for a game of Fly Free or Die, and it’s great to see that there’s a recruitment for it. I’ll get started on a character, hopefully having it up before too long.

Discord is my preferred medium for PbP, so this sounds like it’ll be great.

@Zen - I am totally ok linking other APs histories. As long as it does not super spoil things for other players. Just remember you will also need to incorporate one of the Backgrounds from the Players handbook. Though this will be done after people are picked so everyone has a unique one. The one you described sounds like it would work great.

@Simeon - Great. Excited to see your submission!

Currently I am leaning towards Detective, not because he was in law enforcement, but because he is very, VERY, good at reading people. Also looking at the Vaster theme ... so it would just be a matter of choosing the background after the 1st.

I'll start to stat him up, excited to see how this goes!

I'd love to give it a shot! I've got a couple of character ideas already that I've had lying around, and would love to give FFoD a shot

Dotting for interest

@Zen - Having a good sense motive would fit well with trying to avoid getting swindled in a deal. Or if you can trust a trade deal. Would fit the world well

@All - Reminder I would like to use Hephaistos for characters. If you make a character there then under the Create Tab->Sharing. You can create a read only link.

Feel free to just describe what you want to build here. And we can do the specific building on Hephaistos after selection. Story/name/flavor now.. Crunch later :)

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Rulebook Subscriber

Are you wanting a complete build now or just the outline material listed in the application information section?

Drogeney wrote:

General outline is totally fine. No need for full build. We can do crunch together after if you want.

Liberty's Edge

New to the system, but would like to play some sort of computer hacker/Technomancer character. Someone who can crack security systems and exploited computers for their (and the parties) benefit.

dotting for interest for sure. I am entirely new to Starfinder so if you're okay with a newbie, I'm for it.

Hey there DMNex good to see you again.

I am thinking of revising Sybil (Halfling Star Shaman) from the Dead Suns game and give this a go if you have no problems with that?

Character Concept:

Name: Sybil Surefoot

Theme: Starwalker

Background: Golden Parachute (could have literally spaced her too! and she would survive) or Former Smuggler (Thinking a Han Solo vibe, just smaller and a hallfling!) are considerations.

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Race: Halfling

Class: Mystic - Star Shaman

Equipment:

Biography: Sybil grew up with her grandmother who was a Starfinder for a good many years and had many adventures that she would tell her young granddaughter about.

Sybil found Desna at a young age and always seemed to have a calling to the black beyonds of space. When she came of age she did join up as an initiate of the Starfinder Society but after a few missions it just did not take. Having differing opinions with her others of the Society she left and continued her adventures on her own. She had her abilities as a Mystic and skills as a pilot among others.

Her new life found her on the edge, in all aspects... the law, known space, society. It did not matter to her, she was on a starship living her dream.

Personality: Sybil is a free spirit. She goes where the spacelanes' take her and for the adventures along the way. Quick to trust, loyal to those she considers friends and family, and you better watch out if you cross her... payback is a real b~***! No judgment of people, you do you, just do not force it on me and mine.

*** *** ***

Willing to help where I am able. If you have any questions/concerns, ask away. Also will work with the group to make the character fit as needed with background/theme/skills.

https://hephaistos.azurewebsites.net/character/2055479424

The link to Emerald Eyes in Hephaistos.
Her background hasn't been written down yet, but I'm thinking it might involve that smexy mining thing from the player's guide or wanting to quit something to become a translator and see the stars.
I suppose I could combine those two things...

Also worth noting, she can move her class-skill + skill-focus from her integrated info sphere racial trait into any int, wis, or cha skill. Doesn't have to stay in Life Science (and I might be convinced to move it and the skill rank off for something else...)

I am totally fine with Sybil coming back.

Emerald: Be careful with wanting your character to quit. Might be hard keeping you around doing some of the tasks if you want out anyway.

Submissions:
Sybil - (Halfling Mystic Star Shaman)
Emerald M Eyes - Android Mechanic 1

Name: Oedain Thrant
Race: Gnome
Theme: Prole
Class: Mechanic (drone)

Background:

Oedain was born on Absalom Station, as most gnomes in the Pact Worlds are, to a small family of Bleachling gnomes in a middle level of the Spire. They were never rich, far from it in fact, but had enough that the generous welfare programs of the station didn’t apply to them. Life wasn’t easy for them, but Oedain’s parents did what they could to make sure that he and his two sisters had a decent childhood. Stuck in the middle, Oedain had to start working almost as soon as he was legally allowed to, and found that he had a natural talent for mechanics and computers.

He started as a magrail mechanic, helping his family by making sure the trains of Absalom Station all ran on time. The money he made helped his family greatly, and for a time, things were good.

That was until a new line of EJ Corp maintenance robots made Oedain’s job obsolete, and he found himself out of work yet again. Times got tougher after that. He struggled on to find a job to support his family, and one day got a job offer from the very corporation that had cost him his job, working as a starship technician, his skill at his last job not having gone unnoticed.

He signed his contract, promised his family he’d keep in touch and send them the extra credits he made, and left Absalom Station to work on an EJ Corp merchant hauler. Life with EJ made the famously dull family gatherings of the bleachlings seem like downright jovial events. Months turned into years, and it became nothing but a long, uncomfortable slog. In his spare time, he tinkered. He clodged code and spare parts together over and over, making simple drones out of whatever he could. The years that passed, and the long hauls across Pact Worlds space, gave him plenty of time to innovate. One day he did it, and managed to put together a drone capable of limited free thought. If he ever found a way to leave the Company, he might have a future outside it.

Oedain never liked the Company, but seeing the depth of their utter lack of care for their employees and practices turned it into downright hatred. He couldn’t leave, though, his family back home relied on the money he brought in to help them scrape by. There was really only one upside to the work.

Tarika, a brenneri and fellow long-timer with EJ was that upside. The two of them got along famously despite Oedain’s grim bleachling temper. A deep sarcastic streak made fitting in with other company long-timers an easy thing to do. Oedain and Tarika had each other’s back through the hard times that the Company threw at them. Though they got reassigned away from working together, they stayed in touch despite it. One day, though, Oedain hopes that they’ll be able to help each other again, maybe even escape the Company for good.

Appearance and Personality:

Oedain is a bleachling gnome just barely pushing middle age. His hair is short, and stubble seems to perpetually cover the gray skin of his chin. He wears an EJ Corp utility coverall, befitting his status as a company mechanic. When push comes to shove, he’s a decent shot with a tactical semi-auto pistol. His drone, which he’s named Boltbucket, is a small, four-strutted flying robot with a covertly acquired laser pistol attached to it, all easily collapsible to fit in a traveling case.

The naturally dour temperament of the bleachlings has only been exacerbated in Oedain’s case by years of soul-grinding labor with the Company. His life isn’t without some humor. He’s got a deadpan sarcastic streak a mile wide, his way of coping with the life of tedium he’s ended up with. Oedain values the few friends he has, and wants the best for them. His life has asked much and given him little, so at the end of the day he’s the one he has to look out for, first and foremost.

I am not seeing the situations mentioned under the personality entry in the guide. Can anyone point them out to me?

@Drogeney - Sorry I worded that a bit weird. The players guide kinda walks through some of the things you will have to deal with. ie. Dealing with crew, buying and selling gear, not really being heroes but just working stiff trying to make a living. I just wanted your alignmnent/personality to reflect these. Work well with your crew. Want to make it through this.. There are no specific situations. Just the general feel of the AP as described in the Players guide. Going full evil might not work. Need you to be loyal to the ship or crew. Let me know if that makes sense.

@DM Nex: Anything in particular to keep in mind when picking a homeworld for Emerald Eyes?
Like I don't recall mention of Azlanti space outside of the spoiler at the top, for example, and I'm not super deep into starfinder lore...

Also, languages, now that I think about it. I have to pick 10 bonus languages XD

Though maybe that should wait until after picks are made? I suppose the language selection should go with the background...
Also, I'm liking the mine collapse background xD

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Rulebook Subscriber

Yeah, that makes sense to me and explains why I didn't see what I was expecting to see.

I swear, too many ideas now, not enough games X_X

Ever sense hearing about the Lamia type race I had started thinking of a character modeled off of Inara but that seems not so fit for this campaign to me so I will likely go with my first idea instead.

Unless you tell me that would be a good concept for this in which case I will have to fight with myself over which idea to use.

Sceg: yeah I would stay away from Azlanti worlds, just because they are so isolated. Unless you can wrap it into Against the Aeon Throne AP. But the Vesk planets are all fair game for sure. Mostly open.

Drog: as long as you would be willing to work 16 hours moving boxes around as part of your duties. But an Inara bard of some kind who looks for contracts could work. Just don’t want you to be afraid of doing some manual labor and trucking. Think Inara while helping the rest of the crew vs when she is doing her own thing.

Ack! Now I have to make dreaded choices!

*Starts foaming at the mouth.*

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Rulebook Subscriber

K, finally settled on my concept.

Character Name: Terra
Theme: Spacefarer
Background: Teraformer
Alignment: CG
Race: Ramiyel
Class: Witchwarper
Biography: Terra was born on the Ramiyel home world to her mother Kara and her father, a human named Samuel. She grew up with stories of far off worlds and peoples and the young Terra was entranced. She wanted to see them all one day and she vowed to herself that she would.

Terra eventually studied hard and got her dream with a terraforming program. She was hired as medical staff and to look out for extradimensional problems as the work progressed but eventually found the work to be too exhausting, even with so many people to meet and have fun with. Her best friend was Shan and the two would cover for each other when they needed to.

Eventually Terra couldn't handle being planet bound any longer, she needed to see the stars and other worlds and it was a tearful good bye when she parted with her friend for what could be the last time. She tried to stay in contact with Shan but her messages got no response until she eventually quit trying.

Terra now works for the EJ Shipping Company as a medical officer for one of their freighters. As a side job she follows the path of a sort of traveling courtesan so she can experience more fun with new and strange species and make some money on the side.

Personality: Terra is a pleasant person, always interested in new people and places. She is rather emotional and can be a bit annoying in how invasive she can be when learning about something new. Terra is very loyal to her friends and is largely carefree with her relationships take delight in multiple partners for the sheer experience of it all.

Wearing her heart on her sleeve has been known to get her in trouble at times as Terra does have a stalker or five out there, and she takes partings with people she has become close to very hard. She doesn't brook any nonsense when it comes to medical treatment and will just as happily bind a patient in her coils if they refuse to do as instructs so she can perform any needed procedures.

Thanks! Still not sure what worlds are Azlanti though. Is there a list somewhere?

Actually, I don't see mention of Azlanti in the entry for Akiton. Also seems like exactly the sort of place you might want to leave and EJ might be the way to do it xD
So, maybe just need confirmation that Akiton would be a good homeworld for an android? XD
I also like how M might've needed to do some mining there even though she's not very good at it, explaining her ownership of a mining laser, and then escaping offworld.

Anyway, I'll start putting down bullets for ideas, but I guess that's half-ish of her backstory xD

1 person marked this as a favorite.

@ScegfOd - Yeah Akiton is a Pact world, its all safe. The Azlanti worlds are far away, and there are a few races that live out there. If you stick with the Pact Words or Vesk worlds you are totally fine.
Akiton is great world for an android. Androids are kinda everywhere. They were used as slave labor a lot of places, but are now free. So they are scattered about.

I decided to tweak Tera's submission a bit and have changed her to an Envoy. The adjustments should have all been fixed.

Character Name: Terra
Theme: Spacefarer
Background: Teraformer
Alignment: CG
Race: Ramiyel
Class: Envoy

Spoiler:

Biography: Terra was born on the Ramiyel home world to her mother Kara and her father, a human named Samuel. She grew up with stories of far off worlds and peoples and the young Terra was entranced. She wanted to see them all one day and she vowed to herself that she would.

Terra eventually studied hard and got her dream with a terraforming program. She was hired as a member of the human resources department and medical staff but eventually found the work to be too exhausting, even with so many people to meet and have fun with.

Terra now works for the EJ Shipping Company in the same role she had on the terraforming project for one of their freighters.
So this is the idea that I have in mind right now...

Character Name: Anpetu
Theme: Mercenary
Background: New Hire
Alignment: LN
Race: Vesk (Warblood)
Class: Soldier
Biography: Anpetu was born to a famous line of Vesk warriors, a proud lineage that had performed admirably against the attack of the Swarm. As was his family's tradition, no child was given special treatment and was sent into the galaxy to make their name and earn their place with glory and honor. His brothers and sister were exemplars of what it was to be Vesk.

Anpetu was not so fortunate.

Anpetu found himself fooled and tricked of his money, pawning his family-given tools and weapons to keep food in his stomach and a shelter above his job. One bad job after another bad job, he found himself paying off debt collectors and using his training for unforgiving, simple jobs. It was while he was down and out, spending his last credits on drinking away his problems that an old friend came to him.

Tarika, a brenneri that he had met when the credits were better and the jobs were easier, met him in the Downside and recognized him. With a good word to the company, Anpetu was hired on by the Company and was finally on his way to at least making a living once more.

Personality: Anpetu's bloodline is apparent in how he reacts; his aggressive nature is apparent in how he approaches all of the problems he faces. Trying to redirect that though has led him to being super enthusiastic. First one up on the shift, aggressively working to meet his quota, and trying to be friendly despite the fact that every time he smiles it looks like he is thinking of eating you. Anpetu is a team player and willing to take charge in a combat situation when needed. Otherwise, he prefers to charge into combat and rip and tear.

I can easily change the theme but I am considering a classic; a vesk melee soldier.

Just expressing some interest at the moment. I hope to make a submission next week when I get back from Gencon.

I know a little about this adventure, so I'll be planning on creating a character that embraces the setting--perhaps a soldier or operative, though I won't rule out technomancer.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Rulebook Subscriber

Cool, another Gencon attendee. I'll be there myself running games.

Character Name: Sybil Surefoot
Theme: Starwalker
Background: Former Smuggler (Thinking a Han Solo vibe, just smaller and a halfling!).
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Race: Halfling
Class: Mystic - Star Shaman

Biography: Sybil grew up with her grandmother who was a former member of the Starfinder Society who lived on Absalom Station. She had lost both her parents at a young age. They were deep space explorers and there ship just did not come back. Several ships were sent and only half of them ever returned so any further search was called off. She had a comfortable life on the Station listening to the many tales of her grandmother's days with as a Starfinder. Looking and and watching the coming and goings of the many peoples on the station, Sybil knew she wanted a life out there within the stars.

Sybil found Desna at a young age, longer before she took to the life as a Mystic devoted to her. When she came of age she did join up as an initiate of the Starfinder Society but after a few missions it just did not take. Having differing opinions with others of the Society she left and continued her adventures on her own. She had her abilities as a Mystic and skills as a pilot among others.

Her new life found her on the edge, in all aspects... the law, known space, society. It did not matter to her, she was on a starship living her dream. She came to be smuggling of goods that people needed, medicines relief goods, and the like. She was not in for the profit, though she worked with definitely were, but to help others when there was no one else to do. Of course this put her on the wrong side law and she accepted the risks for doing what she thought was for the greater good.

Stewards caught up with her and those she worked with. And while their mission was to get goods to a group of refugees, the other part was to bring in weapons to some of the rebel fighters as well. Gotta take the good you do with part of the bad. So she brought in tried and sentenced to several months aboard the Steadfast. Sybil did not give up her colleagues or anything else they had done. She plead guilty, she did know and she was a willing part of the crew, took her sentence in stride and was going to just server her time but after many of her stories a young Steward Xegas Xervanas, who was already disenchanted with his work, broke her out and fled the ship with her. When the pair parted Xegas said he was going try the smuggling thing that Sybil was leaving. They gave one another their bests and went their own way.

Sybil now had to find a place out of the way and get herself back to the stars... maybe working on a cargo ship for a time, let the heat die down.

Personality: Sybil is a free spirit. She goes where the spacelanes' take her and for the adventures along the way. Quick to trust, loyal to those she considers friends and family, and you better watch out if you cross her... No judgment of people, you do you, as long as it does not hurt others and you do not force it on me and mine, we are good. She is that person that stays happy and positive in most situations even when everything around sucks.

Ah, forgot to mention, Oedain is true neutral.

@DM Nex: Is there a way to make cyberborn work? I kind of like Outlaw and Ace Pilot too, but not as much xD
I think the ship's universal translator (and EE's joy at being off of Akiton) is already a pretty decent reason for her to be on the ship, but I can switch to outlaw or ace pilot if preferable.

...Though I don't see anyone gunning for that pilot spot yet, maybe it would be good if she just happened to be a bit better at that...

I guess I could also go outlaw and get that recommended "free trader" archetype to go with it xD

and I finally remembered to mention:
I'll be happy to do the cargo stuff if I can use an google sheet :3

@ScegfOd - Cyberborn would work. But I think the question still stands, why are you working this job? There really is not the biggest need for a universal translator, since you are working between known ports of call or at least known entities. Not traveling unknown space. There would be a ton of things to do off Akiton. Why would you want to sign up with the company? Carting goods etc. Basically why would you want to be a trucker when you could do anything else? Being Cyberborn does not explain why you chose to be a trucker.

ah, good point. Maybe I'll go outlaw (and probably free trader) after all~

@ScegfOd - Sybil can take the pilot spot if needed. Star Shaman get pilot as a Class Skill, and get a bonus per Channel skill at level 2, 5, 8 and so on so a skill I will putting ranks into. Just saying. I do not have be THE pilot, but she can pilot for sure. ;)

Outlaw will be a good choice!

Yay, I feel valued xD

Character Name: Emerald "M" Eyes
Theme: Outlaw
Background: Mine Collapse (probably... yay Akiton!)
Alignment: Neutral
Race: Android
Class: Mechanic (exocortex) (...and maybe free trader archetype if no one else gets it. I certainly have a mechanic trick to spare even if M isn't particularly good at half those skills.)
Equipment: sadly the mining laser is too expensive if I want the armor (and I do)
See M's sheet (tentative) for details

Biography: Emerald Eyes was born on Akiton as a slave. After surviving a mining accident (with a ysoki named Niva Rovo), "M" ran away from the mining company and took to a life of crime to survive the Akitonian wastelands. One day she found EJ advertising a job with her built-in comm. She took it and never looked back.

Personality: Emerald "M" Eyes is cheerful, tending to look out into the future rather than being stuck in the past. Other things she looks out for are herself, her crew, and her ship in that order. After growing up in a lawless region of Akiton, M doesn't have much regard for other people's laws. On the other hand, she at least keeps her own word even if the law-man doesn't always keep his, and she isn't the sort to renege on a deal.

I've been reading through the alternate Starship combat rules, I really, really, like them! The fact that Culture can be used, by the Captain role, as a Leadership check makes that role so much more versatile than just a straight Cha- based character would allow.

Still working on Ashraf Baashir, a survivor of the Swarm Attack on Suskillon, turned smuggler and now Company Man ... should have the fluff and mechanics up today or tomorrow.

@Zen - Yeah after reading them they just clicked. They don't feel too different to feel out of place and they are so much more flexable. Will be much better to play PbP as well. Any Starfinder game going forward will 100% use this rules for me.

Yine Kass:

Character Name: Yine Kass
Theme: Corporate Agent
Background: Kalistocrat Childhood (My preferred one), Union Busted.
Alignment: CG
Race: Astrazoan
Class: Envoy
Biography:

Yine Kass was many things, a gambler, a disarming smiling face, an expert in corporate b%%$%$!~ and a shapeshifting purple abomination, but if there was something she wasn’t it was a conformist, adopted by a fanatical family her life turned into a nightmare of conforming to the ridiculous expectations of her new parents, until when she finally turned 18, chose a new identity and escaped them in search of freedom.

Of course freedom, in this case also meant the freedom of dying alone and hungry. Lacking any contacts Yine floated from one deadbeat job to another, especially with her tendency of putting her own financial security in jeopardy to help colleagues and friends. Still the education paid by her family together with the experience and contacts of Yine’s many former jobs finally landed her a position with the EJ Corp which might just turn into a cozy position, that’s of course only if Yine can keep herself from screwing it up again.

Personality:

Yine was taught to always smile and be polite, one of these lessons stuck, Yine is always smiling, an independent spirit with an absolute need for companionship she is always helping her friends and colleagues with a smile and even a laugh when things are at their toughest, yet at the same time Yine is accustomed to corporate spaces and has a knack for figuring ways of circumventing the rules without being caught… most of the time at least. While she cares about people Yine is not above some moral flexibility as needed to the job, so long as the affected aren't other poor working class people. Yine also hides away all mentions of her childhood and never opens up about her internal pain, her hope is that enough time will make her forget it.

Silver Crusade

Character Name: Soze Rasczak
Theme: Starwalker
Background: Golden Parachute (1st choice) or Union Busted (2nd choice)
Alignment: CG
Race: Lashunta (Hunter Legacy Korasha)
Class: Soldier (Hunter)
Biography:
Personality: Appearing aloof, if not outright drowsy or drunk, Soze is actually quite talkative with her telepathy, her preferred means of socialization as opposed to vocalization, an act she views as as an exhausting and clunky means of conveying one's thoughts. Content for the moment at being a nobody she prefers drifting through space and the work involved, working diligently not out of a drive but because it, while not completely isolating it leads to only having to deal with enough people as necessary, allowing herself plenty of time to recharge. Also she's found trying to find the best way to stack and load containers in zero gravity can be quite fun and mentally stimulating.
Character Sheet: Clicky

Got most of it, just traying to think of a coherent backstory, and of course I don't mind switching things around if picked to better gel with the group.

The fact that Culture can be used, by the Captain role, as a Leadership check makes that role so much more versatile than just a straight Cha- based character would allow.

Wait. M could be the captain? as a mechanic? thanks to her racial that let's her make an int(or wis or cha) skill both a class skill and have skill focus? That's amazing xD

Loving all the submissions! Seems like a long time till the 1st, but I want to let people have plenty of time to submit characters.

I will say that once I select people we will have time to iron out stuff. Tweak and come up with relationships and stuff.

Keep them coming!

Submissions
Fully finished:
Oedain Thrant - Gnome Mechanic (Simeon)
Terra - Ramiyel Envoy (Drogeney)
Anpetu - Soldier (KingHotTrash)
Sybil - Halfling Mystic
Emerald "M" Eyes - Andorid Mechanic
Yine Kass - Astrazoan Envoy (BronzeSmith)
Soze Rasczak - Lashunta Soldier (Rysky)

As I mentioned elsewhere, I will re-work my character from that folded other game and re-apply with her here. Lots of aspects will change, but the basics will remain.

Alyson Reed - Human Envoy (MordredofFairy)

I'll post again when I had time to re-do her.
Best of luck to all.

I am still planning on submitting, likely a choice that might complement the current roster.

Technomancer, witchwarper, biohacker, and operative are all possibilities.

@Alyson and @Quirk - Sounds good!

The good news all classes could totally work in this game. Not like a Paladin in Skull and Shackles. So sky is the limit.

@Everyone - Tech Revolution came out, so wanted to say everything in there is fair game too! So if anyone wants to be that new class. Go for it!

Nothing is final till the end of the month. So if anyone wants to change their submissions that is ok with me.

Funny you should mention that.

I should have the PDF tomorrow, and I plan on taking a serious look at it.

DM Nex, do you have any idea if we could potentially be doing multiple books here, or will it likely be limited to book 1? Not looking for a commitment, just want to have an idea for purposes of long-term planning for a character.

I 100% plan on going all the way through the 6 books. As long as the group stays together and nothing crazy happens in my real life. I am in this for the long haul. Worst case I might post slow for awhile. But I wont go anywhere.

Long term plan away! Likely goes to level 13 or so.

Been a long time since I looked at starfinder. Tried to get a game going when first came out but no luck.

Are you still taking applications?

Just downloaded Tech Revolution.

There are some GREAT options of all of the classes.

I'm going to create a nanocyte tonight, but I might also make an operative using the new Bandit specialization.
