Shipping on Subscriptions?

Am I crazy or didn't they used to discount the first $10 on subscription shipping?

Just got my email on shipping for Fists of the Ruby Phoenix Pawn collection and they are charging $15.17 to ship a $21 product.

The $10 discount on shipping is only if the total cost for products meets a certain threshold - I think it's $100.

Yes I got 10 off when Pathfinder 2nd just came out and
Had big order. Was over 100.

Sooooo, whats the point of a subscription then if you're getting railed on the Shipping price?

You get a pdf and usually get it before the book comes out?

It means you never miss one basically and have the convenience of not having to order things. They just turn up.

It’s not a cheap option - the high shipping is partly offset by the free PDF if that’s of value, but it may well be cheaper to buy the book through another avenue and just get the PDF on release.

Also, if you have multiple subscriptions you get a 15% discount and a free subscription to PFS and/or SFS scenarios (at that point the benefits probably outweigh the costs, at least if you’re in the US).

Ahhhh that makes a lot more sense! if you're willing to get a couple of subs then the value will definitely be there (plus reduced cost on shipping). It kinda felt like the PDF was just there to slightly diminish the pain of shipping costs. Not that I particularly like PDFs (Im an old fashioned librarian with groaning shelves). Their description of the discount was not worded in the best way possible.

I am guessing high shipping costs are out of the US?

They're high internally as well (paizo dont subsidise shipping the way many companies do) but yes - international freight at the moment is insane.

Yeah the PDFs pretty much are "shipping compensation".

Like you, I dont have much use gor them but Ive always subscribed as I figure paizo get the distributor and retailer profit then too.

My shipping doesn't seem to be very high but Paizo is one of the few I order from so maybe I am just used to it.

From the few mentions I have seen of international shipping rates, it does appear that shipping within the US is a better deal, especially if you select "cheapest available". And since I live at the opposite end of the country from Paizo, the difference definitely seems to be borders crossed rather than distance. If it were distance, folks in British Columbia would have better shipping rates than folks in the eastern US, and I suspect (but do not know for sure) that they don't.

I have two shipping options showing for The Fists of the Ruby Phoenix Pawn Collection to Australia: $31-38 or $81-99
