Washing food (due to pandemic)

Off-Topic Discussions

At the start of the pandemic, it was recommended that people wash (chilled) food in hot water after bringing it home from shops. I still do it, but I wonder what the general advice is now? Should we still do it?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Surface contamination seems to be much less of an issue than first thought, the main method of transmission seems to be sharing air space. Cleaning food isn't going to hurt but it's not going to help a great deal.

A little over a year ago I washed some fresh fruit and the water came out a pale brown. This convinced me to wash anything fruit/veggie I'm not going to peel before eating.

Thanks for the replies!
