Been working on this with some friends and they suggested I put it here and see if any of you folks are interested or have suggestions.

General Character and Party Building Guidelines

The examples I have are all from PF1 or other games, since I have only just started playing a little bit of PF2. So if you have suggestions or examples that apply more to PF2, let me know.

It is currently in outline form rather than paper form. I find it easier to find and keep track of particular points when formatted like this. When it is closer to finished, I can put it into a more readable format.

So, let me know what you think.

It reads really well and much of the same applies to PF 2e so it's a good read even for people unfamiliar with PF1.

It is very PF1 specific with the examples however. I'd love to read your version of PF 2e one day.

as to suggestions idk how popular the Dragonlance novels were to know who Kender is and what he did. All the other examples you gave are pretty specific compared.
You also don't talk about alignment at all, maybe that never made a difference in your PF1 games but there's some lessons to take there.

Do you have any examples? Don't mind including stories from others and it would get your name added.

True. I'm an old curmudgeon and it really sticks in my brain. Do you have a more recent or at least more universally understood example.

Ah yes, good point. Give me some time to think up some non-insulting wording and I will include something on alignment.

Ok, I put in a new version that has a section on alignment as suggested by Schrekstoff. I also made a few minor changes based on a couple of PM's I received from people that don't want to be mentioned.

Link is broken

Ok, let's try that again.

new link

Any other thoughts from anyone?

Sovereign Court

Eh, it's a bit of a wall of text, and full of 1E examples which are not quite that relevant anymore. Maybe start with a high level overview of all the different roles, and kick the game system specific examples into an appendix?

Well, there's still some of us playing 1E. Neither of my groups has any real desire to play 2E, so I won't get all that much experience at it for a while. Really just PFS when there isn't a 1E game available.

So do you have any examples of similar situations from 2E (or even any other gaming system)?

File is 404'd.

Hmm... I can't get any Google Drive links to work.

Maybe generate a new one, or convert it to a google document/spreadsheet/slide? Through new link is worked.

I made this thread.

Ok, if you can get to it through the new link, that is the document.

I don't have all that much experience in PF2e. But the general process still works. Instead of starting with "Which racket do I pick?" Start off with the questions section. "What is the primary/secondary thing I want this PC to do out of combat?" That will usually guide you to your PC choices pretty quickly.
