Tiny Viper Damage

Hey,
we have a conjurer in the party who summons tiny vipers with Summon minor ally.
The character has augment summoning as feat.
Why is the viper doing 1W2-2 Damage with Strength 3 (-4)??
With Augment summoning and Stregth 7 it would also be -2.
Can someone help me with this?
Weapon Finesse has nothing to do with damage.

Because monsters sometime don't follow the normal rules without an explanation of why they get something.
The simpler solution is to use the listed value as the damage of an non-augmented viper, and augment it by 2 for an augmented viper. As it is a non official solution, ask your GM before using it.


This is not 2nd edition. Pathfinder 1st Edition follows strict rules for creating monsters. Every other Monster, in this case Familiar is calculated right. Per example the Weasel, same Stregth (3), doing 1W3-4 damage.
And I am the dungeon master of the game ;)


In any case the damage will be 1 point of Non-lethal damage plus the poison.

"Minimum Damage
If penalties reduce the damage result to less than 1, a hit still deals 1 point of nonlethal damage."

I like to use a house rule that states "Minimum Damage
If penalties reduce the damage result to less than 1, a hit still deals 1d3 point of nonlethal damage."

Any creature of Tiny or smaller size should use its Dex modifier instead of its Str modifier for Climb and Swim checks. This will be added to Bestiary 4 as a new Universal Monster Rule.

That ruling was applied before the Bestiary 4, but it wasn't in the rules before it.

Monster and sometime even NPCs can bend the rules if that is useful for the monster role or the adventure.
