LFG PF1 Hell's Vengeance

Recruitment

Howdy there! Archlich here. I'm an easy figure here through the forums, with my fair share of games as both player and GM.

One AP I never got the chance to play (at least, not further than the first scene or two) is Hell's Vengeance. I'd love to find a group to be part of to play this AP. Of course, if any GM wants to spam a new group and recruitment, that would be fantastic.

I'd like to keep it more Paizo-centered, with no third party stuff. Keeping it simple, and definitely nothing overpowered with stuff like Gestalt.

The most important part, however, is to get a group that is more interested in background and storytelling, scheming villains with loyal ties between them, and no crazy Joker-some-people-just-want-to-see-the-world-burn type of character.

I can help recruit the players, set a basic ruleset and parameters, all of it - whatever help the GM needs.

Thanks!

I am in a Hell's Vengeance game at the moment but I think our GM disappeared. I would be done for a new recruitment if it happens. <3

The fear of 'crazy Joker-some-people-just-want-to-see-the-world-burn type of characters' has been the one thing keeping me from trying out this AP, but with the right group it would be fun to play.

I've been lurking to find one of these for a while too, but never found one. If a spot is open and someone is willing to GM, please let me know? :)

I, too, have been wanting to play HV for a long time. If you find a GM, I’d love to participate.

That sounds like a great game, Archlich! I've often thought that Hell's Vengeance would be a fun adventure path to play with the right group. For long-time players of Pathfinder 1st it's a fun way to turn the regular character assumptions on their head. :)

Yes, I believe it'd have great interest, if we manage to find a GM. The caveat is to be able to find a group that is different than the usual view some people have of evil characters. I'd rather have a coherent party uninterested in backstabbing each other, focused on the goals, and willing to work towards it instead of just being a**holes to the NPCs and each other.

I personally prefer this view of good/evil/neutral. It makes the game have conflict but tolerable

I would also be interested, though I'd like to get to know my fellow players first. By default, I do not trust other players to play evil in a cooperative manner.

Could be interested as a player, depending on the specifics...

Definitely interested as a player.
I share your same hesitations regarding this AP, itd be great to run with some like-minded folks.

I think the interest in playing is obvious :) maybe someone will now decide to run it? Hopefully? Like I said, I can help recruit, bookkeeping, whatever needed. Maybe I should state some tentative rules, build up a list with characters, and a GM will get interested if he sees a solid group in the midst? I think most people fear hosting this AP for the same reason I fear playing it, but I believe we can get a party of people truly wanting to play the other side of the coin without necessarily going “that” route I aforementioned.

I'm interested as a player.

I'm interested as well.

I've played through multiple books of Way of the Wicked, with all of us LE and working together efficiently, no alternative motives from any.

If anyone can message their current GMs to see if they’d be interested, we might have a better chance here. This AP seems hard to take off the ground.

Why is that? What makes GMs hesitant to run it?
Is it jus this AP or APs in general?

Evil campaign.

It's the old issue that I described above. Unfortunately, for this type of campaign there's always a trend that some players want to play a certain type of "evil" that is dumbly disruptive and poorly designed for work in a party.

This AP in particular (differently than Way of the Wicked) promotes a very much lawful type of evil (almost lawful neutral to be honest) and applicants usually seem to fail to understand it, and GMs become frustrated when the characters path is way off of what the AP designers projected.

Yup, this AP is not about wanting to watch the world burn for the sake of it.

Hey guy,

I'm considering picking this up...But, I'm re-starting an ironfang campaign next week, so I'll see how that affects my bandwidth and make a decision then.

Great news, Spaz! Keep me posted, please. If you want, I can try to put together a list with the interested, or do some crude recruitment based on concepts / etc. so you can review the quality of applicants and decide. I hope you have the bandwidth! Crossing my fingers :)

I will put forward an elf psychic for consideration. He is dissatisfied with his current standing in Cheliax and plans to change that. He will be LE, but is closer to NE than the LE extreme. His build and concept is cooperation focused (as is the player). He will be very evil, but not disruptively or obscenely so.

I enjoy the RP aspects of this game and am very excited to experience the story this AP holds. That said, I have not played this yet because I have not found a crew of players able to do an all evil team justice. Evil campaigns, rp-wise, require experienced and open minded players to communicate and collaborate. I have high expectations of myself and my fellow players. If this means that I wait longer to play this AP, then so be it.

Silver Crusade

If you decide you can do it, or anyone for that matter. I'm gonna make a fighter (armiger) looking to become a hell knight. LN or LE, undecided how I'll swing it, probably LE. He is more focused on law and order and bringing peace, even if that peace is through an iron fist and fear. He is a man thats seen the worst the world can offer, and has decided that any price to pay is worth it if the chaos and wrong can be ended. Or something along those lines.

If this happens, Plan A is an ex-Iomedaean Tiefling. He believed, and did all he could to follow church doctrines. Wanted to be a paladin. But his fellows could never see past his skin. After years and years of prejudice, bigotry, and being the scapegoat for every unsolved crime in town, he’d finally had enough, and gave them what they wanted. Now he’s a Bloodrager (or maybe Antipaladin) of Moloch, and lives to burn Iomedaeans whenever the opportunity arises.

I'd submit my WotW character, an evocation sorcerer.
LE, in a practical but manipulative and scheming way. (sort of like Lex Luthor)

Has an obsession in researching planar travel.

I will put together some rules and start a recruitment, and if Spaz decides to run (or another GM.. or both!) then they have a list to start already (and can do whatever adaptation to my proposed rules as they seem fit).
