How can my Animal Barbarian gain access to shuriken in PFS2?

Monk Dedication and Monastic Weaponry. Come across them in the wild on a chronicle sheet.

Unconventional Weaponry is a bit too much of a gray area for Org Play, with no definition of what weapons qualify as being common in a certain culture, aside from those with ancestry traits.

One of the Legacy backgrounds can give you access, but it requires you to have played certain Pathfinder (1st edition) scenarios, first.

Interesting that shuriken is not on the item options list on the Avid Collector boon. IMO, instead of an exhaustive list, the boon should just say that you can select any one uncommon item or spell in the CRB, maybe less racial specific items. I mean why list dragonslayer's shield, elven chain, katana, katar, spiked chain, and kukri, but not shuriken? The inconsistency and seemingly arbitrary list is a bit disappointing.

I definitely do not see that happening for uncommon spells, at the least.

Why not? If you are concerned about a bunch of uncommon spells, then remove the language about applying multiple boons to the same character so the standard rule would apply. Then a character could only gain a single uncommon spell. But, that is probably a discussion for another thread.

Because I expect that a lot of the spells that are uncommon due to "divination short circuits plots" concerns, specifically, are likely to remain unavailable in society and selecting any uncommon spell would not allow them to do that.

Likewise some of the items that are not on the avid collector boon are items that teleport you.

Also, doing it this way lets them save (for example) shuriken for an adventure where you run into a ninja.

What is so special about that particular weapon? Why not hold the katana back until an adventure with a samuari. Or a spiked chain until you encounter a Cleric of Zon-Huthon. You can make that claim to any and all of the items on the list. It makes the list arbitrarily random.
