Meravon or Merovan? Pathfinder 2e AP Extinction Curse vs World Guide

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

So, on the map, there is a road that goes south from Turpin Rowe called "Merovan" Road, not Meravon.

However, the World Guide calls it Meravon. Which is accurate? Or are they two separate places? It's very confusing and a horrible typo multiple times.

To elaborate, this is a horrible typo in the sense it's performed multiple, numerous times. "Merovan" is not just in a single sentence, or here and there, but across maps and paragraphs, in descriptions and also makes reference to the city "east" in the Immenwood, meaning it very well could be referencing Meravon - which is problematic as the entirety of the World Guide hinges on it being spelled with the 'a' and 'o' situated as spelled above.

Which urges the question does the "Merovan Road" lead to Meravon or Merovan? Kind of important when world building based on a canon foundation.

Did you just start 4 threads about a single typo?

3, the first being apparently in the "wrong area" in General.

The other 2 are in this subforum and Extinction Curse. So only 2 essentially.

That's somewhat besides the point, isn't it? If I could have gotten an answer with one thread it would have been answered already, wouldn't it?

Instead, someone wanted to mention it should be anywhere but there.

So, minimum, it would force me to create at least one more thread to find whatever "correct" subforum it would go to.

That being said, do you actually have something to contribute to my question or did you just want to put someone else down asking a superfluous question?

Maybe.

No, there's a little "flag" button that you click, and then you select "Thread is in wrong forum" and then staff moves it to the correct forum.

Since I don't expect staff to answer all 5 of your identical posts, here's what they said

Perhaps chalk up the confusion to a difference in how it's pronounced in the local dialect.

Note: It's generally not considered good etiquette on the Paizo forums to make multiple identical threads/posts (whether in the same or different subforum). So, it's bound to bring up some comment when you do, & quite likely not in answer to any query you may've made. (It also makes more work for the moderators when they have to now track down & merge all the identical threads.)

Still, it's not always clear which subforum is most appropriate for a thread.

Usually prefacing your post with a "I'm not sure if this is the correct subforum, but..." or, if you realise your thread may be in the wrong subforum, flagging it (as suggested by CrystalSeas above) can go a long way to getting things sorted out.

Hope you get an answer to your query (although it seems it has been answered, so...).

Sometimes places have variant spellings. Usually it's because of language translation, or there multiple communities living in the same region and they disagree on the name, or the town changes its name. Sometimes one name is the "official" spelling, but sometimes there's multiple official versions.

People are the same. Ask any "van Rossum" or "O'Leary" how many times their name gets messed up in official databases.
