Advanced weapon training and a training weapon

Rules Questions

Hi all.

I have a fighter who has taken advanced weapon training as a feat and picked weapon spirit.

Now, training says I can have any feat I meet the prerequisites for and advanced weapon training feat says I can't pick it again as I'm only level 6.

If I use weapon spirit to give my weapon training can I get the advanced weapon training feat bestowed upon me. I haven't picked it this way and I meet all the prerequisites for this feat as required by training.

This seems to be legal but I wanted to check.

No, I think the restriction bars you from accessing it regardless.

If if it's not strict RAW, clearly characters aren't intended to have weapon training that many times at this level.

Thanks for the response. I'm level 6 at the moment the weapon master archetype (I am not this) would be allowed to have it twice by this level also, and again every 2 levels. They bypass the once every 5 rule completely and gain their first use at level 4. They can use level 6 bonus feat to gain a weapon training by gaining the advanced weapon training feat as stated in the special section for the feat itself.

Surely then just being level 6 shouldn't preclude me from this ability, did I misunderstand the objection?

Training does not say you are granted any feat you want as long as you meet the prerequisites, it says “This feat... functions for the wielder only if she meets its prerequisites.“

This doesn’t negate other rules. If you already had Improved Initiative, and then you chose Improved Initiative again with Training, it wouldn’t stack. Or for that matter, any other feat you already have, you couldn’t use, since you can only take feats once (unless otherwise noted). Training doesn’t give you a workaround to other existing rules, so if you’re a 6th legal fighter who already has AWT, you do not qualify to benefit from taking AWT again until 10th level, unless you’re a weapon master fighter.

Wouldn't the fact improved initiative can only be taken once be the limiting factor here? That feat says it can't be taken more than once. This is a feat that is allowed more than once I may be confused here

“but at most once per 5 fighter levels.”

No feat says it can only be taken once, that’s just the pathfinder general rule regarding feats. Some have special exceptions, like that listed above.

Agreed with RAWmonger.

Nothing about training enchant overrides the limit of once per 5 levels, which is what I was getting at before.

Even if it's not perfectly clear in the RAW, I'm of the opinion that you're not overriding the once per 5 level requirement.

Thanks guys this makes sense
