Did Withdraw use to have to be in a straight line?! I swear it had to be in a straight line but, um, looks like “No.”

Yeah I thought so too, but I can't see it either.

Never seen it limit a direction, but it use to be limited to a 5 foot step to avoid a Attack of Opportunity.

It looks like there was no "straight line" clause in 3.5 either, so we're probably just misremembering the Charge rules.

The part I misremembered is that i could’ve sworn you had to move away from combat/enemies to your best ability. But I guess I just spliced whatever panicked/frightened rules into my understanding of withdraw.
