Planar travel between coexistent planes

Advice

Are there any special methods for travel between coexistent planes, like Material Plane and Shadow Plane? For example, is there any way to travel from a point of one plane to the corresponding point of the other plane (assuming they are not connected with a pre-existing portal)? Plane Shift spell doesn't seem to care about coexistence of the planes and always throws you around 5 to 500 miles from your destination, and that's something I'd like to avoid.

I guess Gate spell would work, but I'm looking for something both more limited (travel only between corresponding points of coexistent planes) and lower level.

I believe its time to talk to your GM. There are multiple way's to travel between planes but its up to a GM to decide which ones apply in their game and where. The one's I know of off the top of my head are . . .

1) Spells: Planeshift, gate, etc allow you to travel between planes with varying degrees of accuracy.

2) Portals: These are similiar to spells but they tend to be permanent links between planes.

They can be temporary or permanent e.g. travel into the depths of the earth via the cave at the base of silverdragon peak. When you reach the very bottom of the cave extinguish your light and step backward. You will pass from our world into the world of shadow. That is a permanent portal linking that cave on the material to that cave in the world of shadow. Alternatively say a portal to the plane of air might form in the heart of a massive hurricane, cyclone or tornado tossing the victim not into a nearby tree but into another plane entirely.

They can also be natural (both of the above examples form naturally) or artificial e.g. there is a stone ring at the back of the valley of Tier a Ana it is guarded by the elven troops to prevent that dark portal to the depths of the abyys opening and pouring out a demonic army into our world. This is an example of an artificially made portal that permanetnly links from one spot to another. However access and a key could be as simple as walk down this alley on a Thursday afternoon whistling king on the mountain and you'll walk into another plane because that's the key for it.

3) Dream travel: Not sure about this one in pathfinder but the dream realm used to be its own plane with its own rules. You visit when you sleep but go down the wrong psyche and you'll find yourself trapped
there or waking somewhere else.

Usually naturally forming portals tend to occur in locations with a strong tie to that planes natural state e.g. gate to the plane of water at the bottom of the deepest trench in the ocean or a gate to the plane of fire appearing in the heart of a massive forest fire.

There are probably others I've not looked heavily into planar travel since DnD.
