Slayer talent question

Quick question about Slayer talent. If I choose the Two Handed style at 2nd level, can I use it with a one handed weapon? I'm playing a swashbuckler/slayer fyi. I know it might sound like a stupid question...but want to make sure. This is for PFS by the way....TIA guys!

The ranger styles give a list of feats to choose from but do not restrict their usage. So if you were taking two handed style for Power Attack for example, you can use it whenever you would normally be using Power Attack.

Grand Lodge

that's what i thought...like i said..stupid question...but wanted a bit of clarification for PFS....

You just gain the feats, no restriction on how you use them (rangers cant use them in heavy armor, but it doesn’t appear that applies to slayers). You can use two handed weapon feats with a light crossbow if you want (most won’t work because of the nature of the feat, I guess maybe dreadful carnage).

It works, but I don’t think power attack on a swashbuckler is that great. That penalty to attack will make it harder to crit, so less panache recovery. And the penalty lasts till your next turn, so will hurt your opportune parry and riposte.

i was thinking on using it with Furious Focus....

When you are wielding a two-handed weapon or a one-handed weapon with two hands, and using the Power Attack feat, you do not suffer Power Attack’s penalty on melee attack rolls on the first attack you make each turn. You still suffer the penalty on any additional attacks, including attacks of opportunity.

So, you are planning to two-hand the weapon then?

Furious focus only takes the penalty from that first attack though. If you have iterative attacks, it won't help for those. And you'll still be eating that penalty on your opportune parry and riposte.

I don't know what your level split is, but you might want to check out the deceptive combat style for a feint build or the underhanded combat style for a dirty trick build.

Furious Focus requires you to two-hand the weapon, which means no Precise Strike, you'd keep the penalty from OP&R, and it also gets increasingly worse when you gain more attacks (iteratives/Haste).

Edit: Stupid Rakshasa ninjas!

Grand Lodge

ah ok then...rethinking build progression...and lvl split is going to be swash/slayer 5/2
