Promised reward from Call of Heroes

Age of Ashes

So the reward from the Call of Heroes says 20gp. Is that per hero or group total? Going forward which of these options should I read it as for a given adventure reward?

I read it as group total.

Since the economy changed, at this time 20GP for player would be an awesome reward for them!

Definitely total. The paragraph immediately before that describes reward for the fire, and makes the 50 sp each explicit for that.

I gave it each, without checking. On the bright side, with no magic vendors in Breachill, there's not much damage they can do with that much gold till after they've started finding their own magical weaponry.

The 50 sp a piece is actually what confused me. That means that for a party of 4, you are getting 20 gp for saving the townhall, and then the promise of 20 gp for checking out Hellknight Hill. For larger parties you are actually getting less money for the larger work ask than the reward for the first encounter.

You are supposed to adjust also treasure based on the size of the party, not just the challenges

It also makes sense from a narrative standpoint. Saving 40 townspeople from s burning building AND saving the town hall is something the townspeople are going to be very, very thankful for. Probably more so than just going through a dungeon out of sight. And since Breachhill is cutting both paychecks, that is reflected in the rewards.
