Cool. How much time/effort is it to clear or recover caltrops from a square? Exploration activity amounts of time/effort?

Definitely exploration activity amounts of time. You're basically talking about picking up dozens of deliberately sharp and needle-like d4.

I can't imagine more than a min or so. Its a 5x5 square, its just a dice bag basically. The player characters are innately absurdly dexterious really, amoung other abilities. So it shouldnt' be that hard. Certainly hazardously sharp pokey bits, but also most adventurers probably have gloves as part of their normal clothing.

It isn't something you would typically do in combat time, so its GM fiat, avoiding labeling any specific time frame because then it feels like it goes against typical exploration time parameters of "whatever it narritively takes" really.
