The recent errata to Worn, Held, and Stowed items.

It solves all the problems of mechanics ("How many actions to Draw?" etc) while at the same time opening up the narrative with just enough abstraction to make thematic / cosmetic character choices.

I have a character who "wears" their Holy Symbol as Earrings, which is now supported by the ruleset, for example.

Anyhow, combined with the Bulk system, I find the "Equipment Rules" to be easy, intuitive, even enjoyable.

Same. It’s a solid pairing with the bulk and action systems and it opens up a whole avenue of ways to play with the action economy by expanding on them.

I like these changes almost more than the alchemist buffs.

Agreed - but those are "Happy Place" too!

I will start by saying I used to play 5e and am playing 2e and 1e regularly. I am in one campaign of 2e and playing PFS once a week on average.

IMO character creation is just amazing and so easy to do at the same time and just feels so good to me. Combat is also perfect for me.

Just random example of what I love so much.

I start with a random idea of "I want to be a Shadow Dancer". With that basic thought I came up with so many options it is crazy, especially since within each option there are even more options...

I could go Rogue and really fit the them of killer from the darkness.

Could go Monk/Ranger/Champion and build around the focus powers.

I could even go a caster and just use the utility of hiding in the shadows and shadow jumping.

I really feel Pathfinder 2e dedications system just blows everything else out of the water. PF1 is great too but in 2e you can make characters that a unique thematically and mechanically easily while power level being somewhat balanced.

PF1 you can make unique thematic and mechanical characters too but power can range from useless to one man army.

My PFS character right now I honestly didnt put much thought into him other than a combat sorcerer who trips and attacks with a horse chopper and he is just so fun. After playing more I decided to go almost all into Champion and should be great.

Not to mention all the crazy fun archetypes like dandy, vigilantes that I havent even got to mess with yet. Also want to make snares? Just pick ANY class and take snare dedication and you are good to go.

TLDR: IMO the classes and dedications just give crazy flexibility and are so easy and fun.

PF2 makes me want to play in Golarion.

PF2 makes me want to play outside of Golarion. Converting old modules or hammering out some homebrew feels simple.

Seconding being happy about reach weapons being versatile in their application now.

Love the weapon critical effects, and the Fighter/Rogue/Ranger combat options.

Various ways to have initiative (“You are still healing the downed goblin/elf when the hill dworcs attack closest to you, roll Medicine or Perception for initiative, the rest of you roll Perception, except you aasimar/iruxi, because you are climbing for a higher vantage you can choose Athletics or Perception.”)

Bulk system, while it has it’s obvious verisimilitudinous shortcomings is at least simple.

Battle Medicine. ( I’m pretty much going to say if you have the feat, you can do it, one handed, two handed, half a pseudopod, mental telepathy etc.)

P.S. Can someone give me the cliff notes on Worn items errata - I’m still confused about the intricacies and apparent interactions of Worn in the CRB let alone the errata.

Three Categories:

Held
-two hands
-if you have a free hand, you can use actions that require tools if those tools are Worn (see below)
-using actions that require Worn tools subsumes the actions to draw and put them back - no additional action cost (ex. Battle Medicine)

Worn
-useful for Encounter Mode
-nearly anything can be Worn now, the "how" is up to you and abstracted a bit
-up to 2 Bulk of tools can be Worn, the rest must be Stowed

Stowed
-useful for Exploration Mode
-everything here is assumed to be in a backpack or other container
-to remove a Stowed item, you first need to retrieve the backpack (extra actions up to GM - usually one I presume)
-you get a 2 Bulk "discount" for the sum of your Stowed items

A useful way to remember it is "2/2/2"

Cheers!

I love that I can make a gish that is more focused on spells that martial.

I can pick up cleric dedication via human at 9 and then wield a Staff of Healing (Greater) in one hand and a longsword in the other. As a wizard with haste on me, I can 2 action heal (lvl 3) on myself, swing my +1 striking flaming longsword for 2d8+3 + 1d6 fire + 1d6 negative (because I have bespell weapon), and then cast shield to defend myself. I can also have an AC of 29 because I'm a wizard wearing full plate. And, the next turn I can fireball a clump of enemies and "cast" sword (aka Hand of the Apprentice).

I can go on adventures with my Fighter buddy that has dedicated into wizard because he wanted to make a gish that is more martial than caster. And the synergies are great!

I can use glimpse of redemption because I wanted to make a champion of Nethys.

I love it all because this is just one character that can do all of these things!

I would love to see that character sheet and level progression

I'm looking forwards to a character with the Blessed One dedication.

Because of the errata on staves I will be using AcP to do a little rebuild on this char at level 9.

The changes will be:

*Changing my 5th level ancestry feat to Unconventional Weaponry (Longsword)
*Changing my 7th level general feat to weapon proficiency
and, because I'm doing a rebuild anyway...
*Changing my 8th level class feat to Bond Conservation (because I can cast 5th level spells, so getting another 3rd level DBI can cast another haste)

Other than that, just hap a glance at this profile. The class feat and ancestry feat progression is pretty locked in. Skill and general feats, less so.

Future Build:

9th: Multitalented (Cleric Ded)
10th: Basic Cleric Spellcasting, Quick Recognize
11th: Hireling Manager
12th: Expert Cleric Spellcasting, Kreightons Cognitive Crossover
13th: Unconventional Expertise
14th: Diverse Armor Expert
15th: Unified Theory
16th: Divine Breadth
17th:
18th: Master Cleric Spellcasting
19th:
20th: Spell Mastery

I came here from 5e, and I dig how tightly balanced the encounter system is. If your party is level 2, any monster of level 5 is a boss for you. IF your party is level 8, that same monster is a trash mob. It helps with encounter design, there's less math to do for the game master. So I'm running a Pathfinder campaign in TaleSpire with my friends who are remote and it's wonderful.

I am also playing a war priest in a friend's game and I really enjoy it so far - can't wait for Channel Smite at level 4 to start wasting spell slots. :)

Can you find me in this character line up?

Also can't wait for the Magus and Secrets of Magic.

One of the characters I played in Pathfinder: Kingmaker CRPG was a sword saint, and it was funny to get to AC 70 by level 17-ish. Doubt I'll be able to make a Magus this tanky in 2nd edition, but I'll give it a good shot. :)

Okay. If you have any ideas on better options for the character I always welcome the thoughts of others.

The monster design. OMG the monster design is so good. I love that some monsters can just totally mess with the action economy to make them viable solo encounters. . .

Agreed!

Running an adventure and my party encountered an Ether Spider.

Ether step to material plane. Bite or shoot web. Ether step to ethereal.

The party is like, "oh fu... uhm... Fudge!!" After a couple of rounds, they learned to ready actions for the spider to materialize.

It turned out to be a very fun encounter to run, and, by all reports, participate in as well.
