Shared Training is a spell that allows the caster to grant a Teamwork feat he has to allies.
1/ What happens if the spell is cast and then a bit later, while Shared Training still has a good while before it lapses, the caster loses the feat?
- for the sake of the example, let's say a previous casting of Shared Training by someone else having included our current caster as a target then -
The way I understand it, the conditions are only checked during spellcasting, not later. The spellcaster could be slain that the targets would still benefit from the feat until the regular end of the duration of Shared Training.
2/ Can the caster be targetting himself? In this case, would he then retain the feat for the duration of the spell even if he had lost it from the original source?
It's ambiguous wording, but the way I read it I see the following:
1. Spells that don't have a duration of concentration continue to function regardless how "lively" the original caster is. There is nothing that states that recipients have to stay in range after the spell is cast so, it wouldn't matter if the original caster died, lost the feat, etc. Recipients of the spell would keep the teamwork feat for the duration of the spell.
2. The spell already targets the caster, but makes no statement of the caster gaining use of the selected feat for the duration of the spell. The only purpose of the spell targeting the caster is to determine what teamwork feat(s) can be shared with recipients. So, if you are caster level 6 and you cast this spell on 2 allies and then lost access to the chosen teamwork feat. Your allies would still have the feat, but you would not. However, the spell states you can target a willing creature. There's no reason you couldn't "also" target yourself with the spell, making yourself a recipient. So, for example if you were caster level 9. You could cast the spell on 2 allies and yourself. Then, same as your allies, you would retain the feat via the spell even if the original source of the teamwork feat was lost.
