Cosplay perk

One of the things that came up at PaizoCon 2018 was the lack of a Starfinder messenger bag for the promotional reroll perk. Some women (perhaps even more from transwomen) would really prefer not to wear tshirts.

It was suggested that there was an unwritten rule that since the intention was to encourage players to promote PFS/SFS (not specifically encourage paizo.com sales) that people could make their own messenger bags, other garments (eg skittermander themed scarf), or even wear cosplay.

It would be very cool to see this formalized on https://paizo.com/organizedplay/perks

I had to make a bag out of the shirt.

(its actually a problem with companies that don't specialize in big and tall making big and tall. You can't just add length, you need to make the shoulders wider, the arm holes bigger and the thole thing deeper.

I prefer not to wear my promotional item because it's going to be very difficult to replace it (the place I got it is now closed).

I generally pull it out and hold it up for the GM to see, and I've yet to find a GM that insists on it being worn for an entire session (thank goodness).

The concern I could see with 'cosplay' is that while it is promoting the system, line, and campaign it could potentially be disruptive to table play. In addition the fact that the promotional material boon is there from buying product and if people 'home-brew' promotional product then it's money that Paizo is not making.

I'm kind of amused by the idea of someone cosplaying as Ziggy or Arvin, to be fair.

Some of this was raised by moving re-rolls *off* the Starfinder folio in addition to having a dearth of other available merchandise, I imagine?

The promotional program (recollect or other) is two-fold. It both advertises the brand and shows off product available from Paizo. Custom/homemade items could fulfill the former, but would not support the latter. That is why everyone is strongly encouraged to wear their T-shirt’s, use/carry the messenger bags, use the portfolio as a character sheet not just keep it in your game bag, etc. The visibility there is to the products, the more effective the promotional program is.

Yeah, I'm 6'5" and over 300, so clothing shopping is interesting. There is a real difference between XXLT and 5XL.

Sorry that I forgot to include the plus-sized mention, but yes there's quite a few cases of unintentional inequality built in to the program in its current form, especially for something so mechanically influential as a d20 reroll.

I will always remember my cosplay table at GenCon 2015. It was Andy Christian, and he was the only one NOT in cosplay, the rest of the group would have looked at home in the Marvel Universe (one could have done Dr. Strange, another had a decent Thor-like look, etc. all super appropriate), and Andy was there in I want to say a Sky Key t-shirt. I have no recollection as to whether rerolls came up.

EDIT: Relevance, sorry, they did have those pins, and they had those on a bag / backpack sort of thing. So I agree that having some alternate form of usability is good.

If people are sensible about the realities of purchasing and displaying the product (as 90ish percent of groups are) It works out. Just get a size small and work the shirt into the costume as an ammo pouch or Starfinder Bag backpack?
