Well, that’s this area, and these two rooms. I suppose next we can head west and see what’s at the other end of this passageway, of take this small passageway here, going north
She indicates the ten foot wide passageway just to the east of area 39. I will update the progress map soon. When I do update the progress map, room 39 will change to room 45 – I am in the process of renumbering the rooms in the dungeon to help me better manage the encounter matrix tables
Flint of Iron
"Works for me." Flint says, then taps the map to the right of spot 19. "Depending on where that leads, this area might be worth looking into, as well."
Brunar Battlemender
Brunar nods, "Aye good with me as well!" Brunar gives Sandy a wink as he walks by her to tell her he hasn't forgotten about here.

The Palace of the Vampire Queen, level 1
Day 6; Wednesday, approximately 10:30 am: It is morning, the nineteenth day of Mergunum, the last month of the twelve month calendar year (the beginning of spring time)
Kiril leads the party back to the west, with Sandy and Gwendolyn by his sides. When he is about to pass the small passageway on the right, going north, Sandy lets out a loud cough
*a hem*
Kiril pauses, looks left and right, once down at Gwendolyn’s map, then left and right again, before deciding on where he is actually going.
Kiril Hoxha
I don't really know where we are on the map atm. If there's unexplored areas in only one direction, I'll go there. Otherwise...
Kiril heads left as if it was the only option.
Brunar Battlemender
Brunar follows second to keep Kiril on his feet if something should happen, "Aye, watch yer step Kiril!"
Kayne Aetherax
"Yes, shouldn't we explore every corridor? It would be a shame to miss anything." Kayne speaks up for the first time in a while, having been less than amused at the antics of the others and the talk of flapping "legacies."
That said I think I've been a little lost on the map, too, but I think I more or less understand where we're at now.
Generic Dungeon Master
Kiril leads the group to the north down a narrow passageway, he pauses for a moment by a pair of doors and the with a shove forces both open at the same time.
The chamber beyond is empty, but there is something peculiar about this chamber, in that within is another set of double doors, going north in the north wall in the east corner.
Making a quick note of the doors, Gwendolyn points to the passageway on her map, and Kiril nods in agreement.
Best to see what lies that way before moving into this room.
Moving to the north in the passageway Kiril turns right and sees another set of doors, and the passageway continue to the east a short distance before turning again to the right. Finding the second room there empty as well, he waits for Gwen to update her map, and it shows a space where another room might be, and without hesitation, Kiril heads east, and then south. When the passageway ends there is one last set of doors, and yet another empty room.
At this point the group is becoming agitated, three empty rooms in a row, and a dead end.
Now there are two choices. Go back to the four way intersection by the huge double doors (which lead to the dining room) and go west or go through the doors in the first empty room that was found in the narrow passageway
Brunar Battlemender
Brunar shrugs, "Aye, what do y'all think? Go through the doors in the first empty room in the narrow passageway?"
Flint of Iron
"Eh, we're already here, and I've been eying those doors every since we turned away from them. I think I may have heard something in there." He points back to the nearby empty room.
"I'm having another listen."
Flint walks back into the empty room and gives a listen near the door.
perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Generic Dungeon Master
Flint seems motivated to learn what is beyond these doors in a room, and moves close to the spot where the two stone doors come together and places an ear near the gap.
With a smile back at Kiril, and a wink, Flint steps to the right, and Kiril approaches the left and the two shove the doors open.
There is a hallway beyond the doors and it goes north a while, then turns to the right.
Without hesitation, Kiril and Flint lead the others down this passageway.
After going north forty feet, the party turns right and moves eighty feet to the east, and then there is a slight jog in the passageway, to the south and then back to the west and in thirty feet it ends in a hard, blank stone wall.
But on the south wall of the jog in the passageway there is another set of double stone doors.
Flint of Iron
Flint pulls out his Rapier as he nears the door. "Must've been THIS one I heard something behind." he whispers, and grins, and pushes the doors open with Kiril.
Brunar Battlemender
"Ya think this castle wud have more interestin' stuff in it? How old is this castle? ... Right! ... Brunar stands at the ready as Flint nears the door.
Grinley
Grinley notices the tension in his party members, and stands back a bit from the group. He readies a small fist of fire, ready to throw it at the first threat he sees coming through the doors.
Kayne Aetherax
Kayne only nods along as the group prepares to enter yet another chamber. "I'm certain you did, Flint. After all, echoes in dungeons like these, you can never be certain just where the sound is actually coming from." As usual, when Kiril makes to open the doors, Kayne lets go of Alighieri's lead for a moment, readying his rapier and gauntlet.
Generic Dungeon Master
Shoving open the doors, Kiril and Flint reveal a small chamber, only twenty feet to the far wall, with this set of doors set close to the wall on the left side, while to the right, the room extends thirty feet. At the far wall, directly across from the doors is a pile of bleached bones, which includes two goblin skulls that are easily identified from the doorway. The bones are in a pile, suggesting that something placed them there, and that these two goblins did not just die here and were forgotten.
As each character enters the room, I will ask you to make an active perception Skill check please
Kayne Aetherax
Kayne enters the room and narrows his eyes, already looking around suspiciously. His gauntlet begins to crackle with prepared arcane energy.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Brunar Battlemender
Brunar enters the room just behind Kiril and Flint, and looks around.
Active Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
(COUGH!)
"Hmm, well at least the room is not empty but I don't like thee decoration."
Generic Dungeon Master
Kayne and Brunar are first to enter the room, as Brunar looks toward the pile of bones, nothing out of the ordinary catches his attention, while Kayne spots something peculiar
Kayne Aetherax
Kayne hisses and holds up his hand, gesturing for the others to stand still and stay quiet. "There's something here. Some sort of... cube, of almost clear substance. Look at the coins, the symbol. Metal in the air." He points it out to them. "If anyone wants to try sticking their hand in be my guest, but I don't like the looks of it personally."
Not sure what it'd be to identify a gelatinous cube as such, in terms of its properties, but Intelligence seems like a decent baseline.
Intelligence: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Flint of Iron
perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
"Eh, what? You lost it?" Flint whispers to Kayne, looking around for what he's pointing out. He picks up one of the bones as tosses it in the direction the warlock points.
"See, there's nothin' ther-"
Generic Dungeon Master
When Flint reaches down to retrieve one of the bones, he notices that although the bone appears clean, and fresh, it is hollow, and very brittle.
When he tosses the bone in the direction Kayne is indicating, the bone sails across the room, and stops, mid air just fifteen feet away, and then slowly begins to move back toward him.
Monster Initiative: 1d10 ⇒ 1
Party Initiative: 1d10 ⇒ 5
The rest of the group seems confused as Flint gulps his words, and suddenly before anyone can react the huge cube of transparent goo is coming near Kayne, Brunar, Kiril, and Flint
As the cube of goo moves forward, with surprising mobility, it attempts to engulf one of the party.
I will roll a d4, in the discussion thread to determine who is the lucky victim of the Engulf Attack, that Character must succeed on a Strength Check, vs DC 12, or suffer 3d6 Acid Damage as the cube takes hold of him. After that is resolved the party may take their actions for Round 1
Generic Dungeon Master
Whops, hold the whisper spell, I forgot to roll an attack. Kayne will be attacked by the Cube, which is a standard roll, at a +4, and if that succeeds, THEN he must attempt to avoid being engulfed
The Cube comes dangerously close to Kayne, and a blob of the cube faces slams outward toward him
Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
But Kayne, who noticed the threat before anyone else, leaps back just at the right moment and avoids the attack easily.
Kiril Hoxha
Whew. Was going to be awkward if the only one to spot the thing is the one that got slimed.
"F~~$! How do we kill that thing?" Kiril hesitates, trying to figure out which weapon to use--then draws his halberd and starts hacking at the thing, keeping his distance with the weapon's long reach.
Atk: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Dmg: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Flint of Iron
"I bet Brunar here could do it. What say you, buddy? Give it a smack!" Flint assists Brunar in a melee attack, eagerly encouraging the dwarf to face off against the thing.
Brunar Battlemender
Brunar looks at the cube, "Well Flint, I ain't stickin' me axe or hand near that thing. Who knows, them bones maybe from its last meal?" Brunar makes sure he is not in melee range, holds up his holy symbol and casts Sacred Flame cantrip at the transparent cube.
Sacred Flame Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7
Brunar watches intently to see if the cantrip works.
Kayne Aetherax
"Yes, stand back from it--there's nothing good to come from being touched." Not wanting to admit his lack of knowledge, Kayne offers what advice he can and moves back from the ooze, opening the battle with an eldritch blast.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Brunar Battlemender
Brunar looks at Flint, "Aye Flint, we got yer back! Don't look so defeated laddy!"

Round 1…
Kiril tries to keep a safe distance from the cube and swings his halberd at the jelly like surface, slicing a globule of goo off the thing, while Brunar calls forth a bright, holy light that surrounds the creature for a moment, revealing its full size (it is almost nine feet tall and easily ten feet wide).
Dexterity Save, vs DC 14: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (19) - 4 = 15
The creature sucks in its sides, and elongates its body doing its best to avoid being burned by the holy fire, and it appears to go unharmed by the attack
Kayne and Grinley throw magical attacks of eldritch energy and fire at the cube’s surface, and the goo sizzles a bit
Monster Initiative: 1d10 ⇒ 9
Party Initiative: 1d10 ⇒ 4
Now that the party has gotten a good look at the extent of the creature, thanks to Brunar, they have the advantage on the beast and take the Initiative.
Round 2 initiative, goes to the Party
Cube takes – 9 damage from Kiril (70)
Cube takes – 6 damage from Kayne (64)

Kayne Aetherax
Kayne charges another surge of arcane power in his gauntlet, and this time he lets loose a wicked bolt of lightning, eldritch power crackling in a link between himself and the oozing beast.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Damage: 1d12 ⇒ 2
Flint of Iron
Flint feels an insult coming to his tongue, and he decides to lace some magic into it as well. "Hey blobby! Don't you think you should be watching you weight?"
He points his rapier at the blob, standing about as close to it as Kiril is, though from a different direction, as his Vicious Mockery is cast out at the ooze.
Psychic damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Kiril Hoxha
Kiril's eyes go wide and a bit feral when the scale of the beast is revealed--but Flint's insult seems to restore his confidence and he swings again.
Atk: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Dmg: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Grinley
A look of great concern appears on Grinley's face as he sees the goo cube get hit with a barrage of attacks, yet aside from rippling it's surface he sees very little harm.
"I have a bad feeling about this..."
Produce Flame: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Fire Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Brunar Battlemender
Bruar watches the slime ball (cube) dodge the holy fire, "Aye, so you don't like me Goddess' fire?! Hopefully, you can't dodge them all?!"
Brunar repeats the Sacred Flame cantrip,
Sacred Flame Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7
Terquem
The party gets a leg up on the huge block of goo, dodging away from its path, and keeping a safe distance as they launch another round of attacks against it. Kayne sends another blast of pure magical energy at the thing, and a small piece of the cube is blasted into vapor.
Uncertain if this thing is sentient, Flint takes a risk and speaks a few words in just the right way.
Wisdom Save: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (14) - 2 = 12
While Kiril keeps a safe distance between him and the face of the cube while slicing away with a long handled Halberd.
Grinley hesitates for a moment, beginning to wonder how effective all these attacks really are, and then hurls a small magical flame at the cube, and watches as another small patch of goo is singed by the flame.
And Brunar continues to call upon his Goddess to rain down bright energy on the creature
Dexterity Save: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (2) - 4 = -2
The searing light strikes the creature directly on the top and a hiss of steam rises.
Seemingly angered, the cube rushes at Flint
Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
But Flint dodges the swell of the cube directed toward him
Monster Initiative: 1d10 ⇒ 10
Party Initiative: 1d10 ⇒ 2
With the monster distracted by Flint's taunts, the party maintains their initiative and readies another round of attacks hoping to destroy this strange creature once and for all.
Cube takes – 9 damage from Kiril (70)
Cube takes – 6 damage from Kayne (64)
Cube takes – 4 damage from Grinley (60)

Cube – takes 4 damage (54)
Cube – takes 10 damage (44)

Kayne Aetherax
Kayne maintains his distance and the connection of wicked lightning between himself and the cube.
Damage: 1d12 ⇒ 8 Forgot to mention this is witch lightning, oops.
Kiril Hoxha
"It's big but slow and stupid--we can do this," Kiril shouts above the melee.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
1d10 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Brunar Battlemender
"Aye, just don't get any green goo on any of yous!"
Brunar makes any movement adjustments necessary to keep himself from drawing any AoOs, and attacks again with his Sacred Flame cantrip,
Sacred Flame Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2
(Rats, a roll of 2, it was bound to happen ... lol)
Flint of Iron
Flint mutters another insult at the orb, cackling from his near miss.
Psychic damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
DC 14 wis save. If it fails its save, the Ooze should have disadvantage on its attack roll.
